I wished to compare a West Indies team led by Clive Lloyd from 1976-84 to an all-time West Indies Xi excluding era of Lloyd as leader .Considers a team with all who played in Clive Lloyd's team after it's debacle in Australia in 1975-76.The opposing team players all played either after Lloyd's retirement or before the triumph of Clive Lloyd's team against India in 1976 at home.

Clive Lloyd xi

Gordon Greenidge
Desmond Haynes
Viv Richards
Alvin Kalicharan

Mlacolm Marshall

all-time West Indies xi excluding players under Lloyd

Conrad Hunte
Brian Lara
George Headley
Everton Weekes
Frank Worrell (C)
Gary Sobers
Clyde Walcott (W)
Lance Gibbs
Curtly Ambrose
Wes Hall
Courtney Walsh

A very even contest but the non Lloyd led team may just have the edge with the all-round genius of Sobers, combined with the batting genius of Lara,Headley,Weekes and Worrel combined and the lethal bowling of Hall and Ambrose.Gibbs would give the attack the added variety Lloyd's team has a better attack but not as talented batsmen or a great all-rounder.

Interesting. Non-Lloyd looks to have slightly stronger batting, and a decent spin option as well as left-arm swing.

Sobers could open the bowling with Ambrose in swinging conditions.

On pitches like Sabina Park or Perth of old Clive Lloyd's XI would be stronger. On other pitches Sobers team would be stronger. Also Clive's team might require Viv Richards to bowl few overs that can be cashed by Sobers team. Clive's team would struggle to fill in 90 overs a days if teams played current rules.

Very good evaluation
