West Indies vs India | 4th T20I | Lauderhill, Florida | 6th August, 2022 | Match Discussion
West Indies head into the Florida leg of the T20I series with the task of turning around a 1-2 scoreline deficit. Despite the hosts trailing in the series, there is an air of positivity attached to their T20 side. The two openers - Brandon King and Kyle Mayers - have found some form, notching up a fifty each. Obed McCoy's variations peppered with his hit-the-deck skills and left-arm angle have troubled the Indian batters. Meanwhile, Akeal Hosein has given them the required control and wicket-taking option.
The West Indies still have a defect or two to tackle. One of them is the engine room of the batting unit - Nicholas Pooran, Shimron Hetmyer and Rovman Powell - hasn't been able to pull its weight. In fact the trio has combined to score just 136 runs between them. Especially against a side like India, who have lost only two of their last 21 T20Is while chasing, West Indies need its batting unit to fire collectively.
India too would go into the fourth game with an eye on a couple of issues that have rocked their boat in the series. Avesh Khan struggled to adjust to the slower/two-paced nature of the wickets in the Caribbean. Unlike a couple of other Indian pace bowlers, Avesh hasn't been able to vary his pace. Shreyas Iyer's run of modest scores is another cause of concern. Iyer's hoick sans conviction against McCoy's shortish ball in the second T20Is was an indicator of a cricketer low on confidence. The Indian think tank though have shown enough faith in Iyer so far and he could end up getting a couple more chances.
On the brighter side, Arshdeep Singh has showcased clarity of thought with the ball in different situations to put his hat in the ring for T20 World Cup selection. His team-mate, Suryakumar Yadav, gave another demonstration of his ability to take the responsibility of spearheading the chase with a 44-ball 76 in the third game.

Team News
West Indies: The hosts could be tempted to go in with an unchanged side. The one option is to pick Keemo Paul as he has found some success at the ground with his brand of cutters. If they want to tinker with the batting unit, then Shamarh Brooks could get a look in
India: Rohit Sharma had to retire hurt in the third game due to a back spasm. But he later said in the post-match presentation: "At the moment, it's okay. We've got a few days till the next game, hopefully it should be okay." Avesh's place could be under scrutiny but with Harshal Patel laid low by a rib problem, he could get another opportunity. The alternative route is to pick another spinner.
What they said:
"Here as well, a lot of credit goes to him and Rahul Dravid for the way they have got the team together and making sure a lot of positive mindset comes in and players are feeling secure; they are not looking over their shoulder; making sure they are getting ample chances; they are getting told as well if they are not playing, and that is something which is commendable," Hardik Pandya after the third T20I.
