Cocaine traces found from Raza Hasan's blood test - Likely to face a ban [Update post # 147]

Two years of rest may be beneficial to him given he had a stress fracture in his back at the time. Age is still on his side and so is talent. I reckon we haven't heard the last of Raza Hassan on the international stage. Too bad he will miss out on PSL this year.

He's not coming back. He has been replaced and we don't even know if his drug problem is behind him.

Hope he can make a come back.

PCB should support him more than the fixers.

Perhaps we do have a lot of other guys bowling left arm spin but the way this guy bowled it was different to everyone else. Very much like a left arm finger spinner. He could be used as a mystery spinner once his ban is lifted. I just hope he's quit drugs.

Not needed and deserving of whatever has happened and will happen

Ban should be done now? Did he ever give any statement on why he used cocaine?

It's none of our business why he did it.
I don't see why recreational drug use warrants a 2 year ban though.

I completely forgot about him. There's no point on focusing on him when we have guys like Hasan Khan, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Irfan JR, Usama Mir and other young spinners.

How old would he be now? Honestly I don't think he's the first sportsperson to dabble in a bit of recreational use. Maybe it was medicinal purposes who know. But if he's served the punishment let him come back and fight for his place if he has the motivation.

. From what we can see the current lot including highly regarded left arm spinners aren't much to write home about.

I personally like all the names you mentioned above however, none of them possess half the mystery that he did. I'm not taking anything away from Shadab or Mir, they're brilliant spinners but Raza Hasan could be our trump card, the go to man for a wicket. He has become even more vital now with the loss of any 'mystery' bowlers we ever had. :zulfiqarb

None of them were a better batsman than him. I watched his first FC hundred. He was a very classy elegant batsman.

Don't know how fit he is these days and whether he has played cricket regularly or not. That would be a major thing.

Could be a potential allrounder down the line?

Hope PCB supports him. He was so talented and rose to the occasion exceptionally at Wt20

If you want a spinner who can bat you've Shadab Khan, who in time will become a solid lower order batsman with right grooming and patience

He was a brilliant left arm spinner. Exceptional.

After Under 19 World Cup Ijaz Ahmed the Coach told media aswell as PCB than He feels Raza is a finished product now and ready for Int Cricket straightaway.

He was a poor batsman until he scored a 50 vs strong England Test team. From there on he massively improved his batting and just before getting banned He had become a genuine all-rounder. Stats won't tell you that.

As I said, if he remained in touch with Cricket and stayed fit than He will rule domestic scene immediately. While if he stayed totally disconnected than at such a young age you can lose your skills all together because muscle memory isn't developed completely. Than he might bat as a complete tailender.

Let's see where he stands.

He needs to bat at number 5 or 6 for his respective FC & List A teams. Only than his batting will develop. If at 18 he is given sloggers role than his batting balance, timing, shape will deteriorate and his batting won't develop.

Looked much better vs Zim when he scored Century. Needs to be taken care of in times ahead.
