Sky Sports has added former Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara to its already-impressive line-up of cricket pundits.

Sangakkara, who scored 12,400 Test runs and more than 14,000 ODI runs for Sri Lanka in a 15-year international career, joins former Australia captain Ricky Ponting, Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh and Pakistan legend Wasim Akram.

Throughout the summer, they’ll join regulars David ‘Bumble’ Lloyd, Nasser Hussain, Michael Atherton, Sir Ian Botham, David Gower and Michael Holding in the Sky Sports studio and commentary box.

England’s summer of cricket starts on 24 May with a two-Test series against Pakistan, followed by a one-off ODI against Scotland then five one-dayers and a T20 against Australia.

Later in the summer, one of the world’s best players Virat Kohli brings his India side to England for three T20s and three One Day Internationals throughout July, and five Test matches throughout August and September.

Every match will be shown live on Sky Sports Cricket, the broadcaster’s dedicated cricket channel, as will England Women’s home ODIs and T20 Tri Series against South Africa and New Zealand.

'Fresh insight'
Sky will be showing 12 matches from the Kia Super League including the finals day from Hove, every game from the Indian Premier League and the Caribbean Hurricane Relief T20 International between West Indies and the Rest of the World live from Lords on 31 May.

Of course, there’ll also be country cricket action from the Specsavers County Championship, Vitality Blast and Royal London One Day Cup competitions.

“The line-up on Sky Sports Cricket this summer is going to be one to remember, with England facing some huge rivals at home, we will certainly not be short of talking points,” said Sangakkara.

“I am looking forward to joining the Sky Cricket team alongside my old rivals Nasser Hussain and Michael Atherton and bringing fresh insight, analysis and opinion to the commentary box.”

With the ICC Cricket World Cup and The Ashes to come in 2019, there’ll be plenty for cricket fans to sink their teeth into on Sky Sports for quite some time.

In the studio and commentary box, regulars David 'Bumble' Lloyd, Nasser Hussain, Michael Atherton, Sir Ian Botham, David Gower and Michael Holding, will also be joined by former England Internationals Isa Guha and Ebony Rainford-Brent.

From April to September, Sky Sports Cricket viewers can enjoy exclusive coverage of:

The schedule will undoubtedly bring drama and excitement as the best player in the world, India's Virat Kohli, brings his side for five Tests, three ODIs and three T20s.

And with the ICC Cricket World Cup and The Ashes live and exclusive on Sky Sports in 2019, the stakes are high for England's five ODIs and T20 International against Australia - the last time both sides will meet ahead of next year's clashes.

Building on the momentum of last year's World Cup victory, Sky Sports will show more women's cricket than ever before including; England Women's home ODIs and T20 Tri Series against South Africa and New Zealand and 12 matches from the Kia Super League - all great build-up to the Women's T20 World Cup on Sky Sports later this year.

Head of Sky Sports cricket Bryan Henderson said: "With some of the best players and teams in the world flying over, we hope to show audiences far and wide what Sky Sports can deliver on all platforms. We'll capture every ball using the best technology and innovation, including Spidercam and more matches in UHD than ever before. And with our great talent line-up, audiences at home will have the best seat in the house."

Action has already started on the Sky Sports Cricket channel, with the IPL season underway. Sky Sports will continue to show every game, so fans from all over can enjoy the best of Indian cricket.

This summer, customers can also enjoy new and exclusive content on the Sky Sports Cricket channel. Following the award-winning documentary Imran, Sky Sports has commissioned new documentaries including; Cricket in Mumbai, Viv Richards: The Master Blaster, Last Man Standing and Mind Games - a series showcasing the mental side of cricket and sport.

Non-Sky subscribers can follow all the action via the Sky Sports app, Sky Sports News and skysports.com. Sky Sports is the home of England cricket until 2024 and ICC events until 2023.

No place for Ramiz Raja in this panel.

Expecting some good commentary this summer. Should be a fun summer of cricket.

Maybe this bump will make Ramiz realize how poor he has gotten on the mic for the last 4-5 years.

He is the GOAT commentator. He’s been with us through thick and thin and deserves some appreciation. National hero.

I used to like him in the late 90s and early 2000s when he used to make sense. Also whenever he's asked about upcoming players and domestic cricket (besides PSL), he has no clue and end ups screwing up because he tries to make up something he doesn't know anything about. Classic example was when when Harsha Bhogle suggested Haris Sohail should be fast tracked to the Pakistan side after years of consistent returns in domestic cricket to which Ramiz replied like an ignorant "WHOOOO?". He's the biggest embarrasment for Pakistan cricket. Irony is Sky and Channel 9 (Aus series) are waking up to this before all the Asian Channels.

Your argument is exactly like those who want Arsene Wenger to stay at Arsenal because of his commitment to the role for so many years even though he's lost the plot this season.

The Arsene Wenger argument is different because Ramiz is not directly having an impact on the Pakistan team.

Ramiz is a clown these days. A Pakistani Danny Morrison.

How did Harbhajan get himself into contention for Eng vs Pak. Never heard his commentary before

Touring England is always a joy, the commentary team at Sky is unrivaled as the best. Disappointing to see Wasim there to be honest, he's a garbage commentator. Waqar, Bazid and even Rambo are far better.

I think Gavaskar and co. will be there. Thought this was just for Eng vs PAk

Na, this is for the entire summer. Harbhajan as an Indian rep, Ponting as an Aussie rep and Wasim Akram as the Pakistani rep.

I think Wasim, Ponting and Harbhajan will only be there for their respective team's tour. Will Star have their own commentators again for the Indian tour?

Nice to see Kumar. He's got brilliant insight to how the modern player approaches the game. Very good at explaining strategy and tactics different batsmen apply to a situation.

No Shane Warne this time around. And thankfully no Rambo either.

Rameez has become complacent and poorly prepared as he has had no competition for his role for 15+ years. He should take this as a wake up call as he's been the Pakistani rep for all our tours of England since 2001.

That said, Wasim isn't much better either.

Amir Sohail gives more insights than Ramiz and wasim.

Rameez is a fantastic commentator and you are going to miss him this summer.

Wasim Akram will be there with his tooti phooti English I assume:djb

Thank God they refused to let Ramiz near the com box. Now if only Sky would get rid of Botham; he is the only weak link in their attack!

I hope RTE or one of the other Irish FTA channels shows the Ireland match. The sport is dead enough as it is in this country without having even its first Test match televised on national television.
