Congrats Pakistan well deserved. Last six years or so must have been real tough especially for the players being away from home and living out of a suitcase pretty much all year round. Very happy for y'all and Misbah and co. All the best!

Also being number 1 you should have more power with the ICC, surely they can play some Test Matches in Pakistan now? Even if its a 2 Test match series against the West Indies with Pakistan being number 1 the crowd would be packed which would be a lovely sight to see.
 
Accidents do happen.......
To be true number one team need to win in Windies and Aus and maybe Kiwi which is within reach.

Its great to be number 1 but need to stay there....

Power in the ICC is paid for behind closed doors, not earned on the field. Pakistan and the PCB are still as irrelevant as ever when it comes to cricket politics.
 
As much as every1 is giving credit to misbah.. this was collective effort.. every1 played part in it.. exactly as misbah himself said we should be thankful to every1.

If I start thanking then there will be too many names.. but I want to thanks misbah and younis too.. they both rescued us from too many awkward positions. our two wins in this series came by virtue of 100s' from both batting legends of current era for Pakistan

But remember these rankings are just a cursor. If Pak are to stay near the top they have to do well in the upcoming tours.

Full credit to the resoluteness of Misbah. This shows how a good captain even though defensive can take a normal side to great heights.

Misbah deserves a lot of praise.
 
There is no Test Championship. Number 1 Ranking is everything in Tests and Pakistan got it. Long live Pakistan.

If not ICC, then afterwards PCB should seek their permission for a Mace Parade Ceremony at Qaddafi being arranged by PCB itself.


It's not like Team Pakistan has transcended beyond times, but for a country like ours we should Live these little passionate moments whatsoever whensoever we can. That's PakPassion.

I never thought I would get to see this day. Winning the World Cup again was more believable than envisioning Pakistan at the summit of the Test ranking.

What a journey it has been and what a turn around; 2 years ago at this time, Pakistan got blanked in Sri Lanka with Herath taking 9 wickets in an innings, with the team languishing at 6th.

It all started with the Australian series in Oct/Nov 2014, and the team has not looked back since . . .

Obviously the whole team deserves credit, but the real hero is Misbah. Criticism is not wrong - constructive criticism is in fact necessary, but people like MoYo, Akhtar, Bakht etc. took it a step too far and got vicious and personal in their criticism.

Misbah has his strengths and weaknesses like others, but one thing that you cannot question is his integrity. Today he has officially become a Pakistan cricket legend.

At a personal level, Misbah has made me believe in Pakistan cricket again, which is ironic because he was one of the chief architects who made me lose faith in Pakistan cricket at Mohali in 2011.

This is a historic moment for Pakistan cricket and it is time to rejoice. The likes of Azhar, Shafiq, Younis, Yasir, Sarfraz, Hafeez, Wahab, Rahat, Amir, Sohail etc. etc. have entered the history books and achieved something that more celebrated Pakistani cricketers of the past could not achieve.

The rise is made more sweet by the fact that Pak has achieved it without playing a single game at home over the past 7 years. Playing in UAE is still not the same as playing at home.
 
YAY! This is an amazing achievement. Can't even put it in to context as no team has played under the same conditions as Pakistan. It was just meant to be as it's unusual for a Test to be abandoned with 3 days of sunshine in this day and age. Also today happens to be my birthday so it's a double celebration. :36:

Immensely proud of our team. So proud that I'm posting on the cricket forum ;)

No cricket at home, playing in empty stadia in an adopted country, living out of hotel rooms and suitcases away from family and friends for months on end, losing the best bowlers to spot fixing or chucking, no IPL riches, the Big 3 monopoly, a hostile press at home, a corrupt and incompetent board, a shrinking talent pool, all of these together would've killed off any other team. The discussion raging on the other threads and online about how this ranking is somehow undeserved should take into account this long list of challenges that no other team has to contend with.

Somehow, this achievement is reminiscent of the 2009 T20 win. The 1992 victory was a vindication of what was already known: that we were a cricketing powerhouse. But the 2009 win, and this ranking, are much more than that: to quote Dylan Thomas, "rage, rage, against the dying of the light." We will not go gentle into that good night.

We may soon lose this ranking, but tomorrow can wait.
 
If someone had told me we'd be the #1 test team 3 years back post-Zimbabwe series I would've called him crazy.

But we made it, feels good. May be short lived, but isn't it better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all?

Still can't believe it with everything going against us, but it has happened.

What an achievement. Honestly I can remember when Misbah was announced and his 1st series as captain, I didn't write him off but I thought it was weird choice. Than he started well with the bat. Than I can remember we beat New Zealand away in 2010 and after that I always always look forward to test matches. I thought we could get to 3 or 4 but number 1? I thought that was a distant dream.


Misbah has cemented himself as one of Pakistans greats. Azhar,Asad,Sarfraz,Amir,Yasir will join him in due course. The way misbah has kept this team stable and found a formula for victory is unheard of in Pakistan cricket.


Thank you for everything Misbah I have always been a fan I can remember having arguments with my own family defending you, and today you proved all the haters wrong.


What a team, what an achievement. Love this team and love this country enjoy it guys. Can't wait to go down under. In cricket anything can happen so don't rule us out. But for now enjoy the moment. We are number 1!!!!!!!

It is indeed a moment of national pride for us; Our cricket team has proven that it is the best cricket team in the world. Our cricket team under the Captaincy of Misbah-ul-Haq has demonstrated excellent professional skills and team work during the last test matches. We hope that their brilliant performance will continue with same spirit and they will earn more recognition for the country in times ahead.
 
This is very special no matter how long we stay at no.1.

Misbah and the team have performed admirably since the 2010 debacle and deserve to be no.1.

When you think about it, it is quite amazing how they have managed to achieve this with all the issues with the 2010 spot fixing saga and also not being able to play at home for 7 years or so.
