Brilliant and courageous performance from a team of excellent performers to beat a team like India who many fancied as tournament winners.

Great future ahead of them and time for Bangladeshi nation to celebrate and for us to join in.

Congratulations Bangladesh!

Rakibul Hassan on interview when asked how he is feeling - "I am feeling fantastic!!" :)) :))

Congratulations to all the BD posters as well who have taken a lot of ridicule from posters here.
Hopefully we can see some videos when they return..

Congrats. Well deserved. Very disciplined performance by BD in the final. Their 2 years of hard work has finally paid off.

So so so happy for Bangladesh. Have always been my second team. Love people from Bangladesh. Had so many friends from Bangladesh growing up and have always loved the people.

Especially happy for MMHS who is one of the finest cricketing brains around. He must be so happy. My fav poster on this forum.

This Akbar kid is special. And the left arm-spinner, really rate him. He has something about him. His attitude.

The Das kid played a terrible knock, but who cares.

Congratulations Bangladesh!!!!!! <3

Congrats to Bdesh, perhaps senior team can learn something from these young kids

Congratulations to Bangladesh and their fans on here like MMHS

Congratulations my brother's from the east. What a win! Hopefully from this current batch senior team starts winning more. MMHS

Hopefully some of these boys will be developed into seasoned international cricketers and players who play for Bangladesh for a long time.

It's all about taking this group of players to the next level.

Congratulations to all BD posters.

Sweep shot, em em eh ess, ten sion, ashraful rox, bujhee kom and others who I have missed as well.

Commiserations to India.

Congrats to BD fans. Well deserved victory and kudos to BCB as well who planned and executed decently at junior level.

Thanks, everybody.

Great win for us. Hopefully these youngsters will repeat these performances at senior level.

India played well but fell short.

Congrats Bangladesh. Since 2006 they have been good at u-19 level and they should have won u-19 WC a lot earlier but they failed in crucial knockout matches in QF or SF

Good that they made it count this time and became the 8th country to win a World cup

Insha Allah Bangladesh cricket continues to rise.

Congratulations to all the bangladeshi fans, this world cup squad will surely produce 3 to 4 good players for bangladesh in the future.

Congrats to Bangladesh :14:

India were in great form , but Bangladesh did well to stop them.

I thought the match was lost for Bangladesh tbh but Akbar Ali stayed in the middle like a rock. What a captain's knock. I hope he keeps developing and becomes a future captain for Bangladesh.

Bangladesh has had really good U19 teams for a while now but they always bottled it at the World Cups. Good to see this bunch finally bring the trophy home. Now it's up to the BCB to develop these young talents into world class international players.

Not to sound patronizing but, 1st half of the game, BD juniors looked the most confident ever any of their teams have seemed in a game vs India. The senior team has been excited or aggressive but that's not really confidence. Wonder if it's the mood of the country (no idea - don't follow BD political situation), or some kind of strong cricketing base that's being developed by their board or specific to this tournament - they just felt like world beaters and better than the Indian team.

Was still hoping for a BD choke at the end, but they played superior cricket and sort of exposed how this Indian team rode to the finals on the back of a couple of players.

Really liked Emon - he has the enjoyable arrogance of a youngsta Tamim Iqbal, and a slight touch of Lara in his follow-through when playing his shots.

Congrats to Bangladesh and their fans. They showed how teams should prepare for this tournament. They played around 30 games since the last World Cup.

How can Pakistan or anybody expect to win if they only play 10-15 games?

People need to relax now. It is just an U19 WC. An U19 player just took a hat trick against their senior team in Test cricket.

Thanks Brother Nikhil, but disappointed that we don't have any genuine quick bowlers. It will take another 10 years I guess or never

Congratulations guys. The team, fans and all the Bangladeshi supporters on this forum.
Very well deserved.

Thanks Brother Nikhil, but disappointed that we don't have any genuine quick bowlers. It will take another 10 years I guess or never

You need 3 accurate fast medium bowlers. If you can find those, I think BD will be able to compete with the best.

I am just overwhelmed and very much emotional. Waited so long to see achievement like this. Though under 19 level, but it is world cup. Special. Beating the strongest team by not choking. Thanks to all.

Congratulations to the World Champions. At the start of the match , I was neutral, not favoring any team, but the way BD team played, they won my support mid-way and I'm so happy for their very well deserving win.

I hope the boys will be well received at the Dacca airport, young heroes deserve all the appreciation and media coverage to inspire the next ones.

Congrats Bangladesh, the tiger cubs were so clutch today. Hope this translates to success at the senior level, cricket needs a strong Bangladesh.

Bangladesh stun India and win ICC U19 Cricket World Cup

Bangladesh wrote their name on the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup trophy after a rain-affected three-wicket win over previous holders India in Potchefstroom.

Mohammad Akbar Ali of Bangladesh pictured with the trophy during the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup Super League Final match between India and Bangladesh at JB Marks Oval on February 09, 2020 in Potchefstroom, South Africa.

In what was their first final in the competition’s 22-year history, the Tigers were far from overawed by the occasion, limiting India to just 170 with the bat despite Yashasvi Jaiswal’s swashbuckling 88.

And though for a time it looked as though they would fall short in their chase, a captain’s display from Akbar Ali steered home the ship, as his unbeaten 43 carried them to the target despite rain playing its part.

Celebrations were jubilant as Bangladesh’s heroes toasted a historic victory with a lap of honour in front of their travelling fans.

In a low-scoring thriller, Bangladesh reached their rain-adjusted target of 170 with 23 balls to spare, as they won a historic maiden title while ending India's unbeaten run in the campaign. India suffered an incredible batting collapse, where they lost the last seven wickets for just 21 runs and were bowled out for 177.

Yashasvi Jaiswal (88) and Tilak Varma (38) had top scored, while Avishek Das (three for 40) and Tanzim Hasan Sakib (two for 28) picked up the crucial wickets for Bangladesh.

In their chase, Bangladesh lost wickets on a regular interval with Mohammad Hossain (47) and captain Akbar Ali (43 not out) keeping the innings calm as they crossed the winning line for a memorable victory.

India's Ravi Bishnoi (four for 30), the tournament leading wicket-taker, once again impressed as he did his utmost to halt Bangladesh’s progress.

Skipper and Man of the Match Ali said: "It is all about the hard work that we have put in, in the last two years. I can't thank the coaching enough. When we started this journey we wanted to play in the final and win the trophy, and it is a dream coming true. I can’t describe my feelings right now, I am so happy.

“Congratulations to India, who have been brilliant throughout the tournament. It has been good experience for the team, hopefully we can build on this.

India captain, Priyam Garg said: “We are disappointed, in terms of planning today we had certain things in place, tried to put it in the right areas and I think overall we did bowl well. The result didn’t go our way, but we had a good tournament.”

Scores in brief

Bangladesh Under 19s beat India Under 19s by three wickets (DLS method) at the JB Marks Oval, Potchefstroom
India 176 all out, 47.3 overs (Yashasvi Jaiswal 88, Tilak Varma 38; Avishek Das 3-40, Tanzim Hasan Sakib 2-27)
Bangladesh 170-7, 42.1 overs (Mohammed Parvez Hossain 47, Akbar Ali 43*; Ravi Bishnoi 4-30, Sushant Mishra 2-25)

Congratz bro.

Most impressive was they came to the party from ball #1 and they let everyone know it. At first I thought the commentators were simply hyping it up, but the fact that the team closed it out proved they really did mean business and weren't just faking it.

Akbar, Shoriful, and Rakibul will be leaders of the national team within 4 years. A couple of the batsmen might also make it, but they choked today when the pressure was on.

Still an ICC male's event. IMO, that ranks higher than any Asia Cup, if we ever win one of those.

Thanks to all of you guys for the wishes and specially to Indians for the spirit in a close game. The intensity I saw in our boys, I hope they carry this to their senior level. It was a great win, but Indian kids were not losers either - put a valiant fight back to make a match of below per total, worthy of a final.

Truly proud to be a Bangladeshi today - thanks to you boys. And, must have praise Akbar specially - I knew he is the best player of this squad and he will represent BD for two decades inshallah.

This to me is Bangladesh's first real contribution to cricket - where you know they now matter.

May they carry on to bigger things.

Genuinley delighted for them. The senior team seems to choke in tough situations so the way that these youngstere played is incredibly heartening.

Congrats to Bangladeshis! I hope some of these guys kick on and bring real glory to their nation.

Off topic: From that 2004 & 2006 group, how many of them went on to play in int cricket for PAK?
On Topic: congratulation

Banglas deserved it.I underestimated them, but they held their nerve. Also exposed this indian u-19 team as totally dependant on jaiswal, tyagi and bishnoi.

hearty congratulations to Bangladesh. well done. well deserved. Bowled india out. Credit also should be given to india for putting up an amazing fight back.

Good effort but Bangladesh were the rightful winners.

Brilliant and courageous performance from a team of excellent performers to beat a team like India who many fancied as tournament winners.

Great future ahead of them and time for Bangladeshi nation to celebrate and for us to join in.

Many congratulations to the Bangladesh nation. You deserve it

Just saw the scorecard and saw that India bowled 33 extras. Club level stuff from them. Then they go sulking off like sore losers and decide to step on Bangladesh's flag.

Very surprising to see India lose. Perhaps the next Indian generation will not be that great after all.

india/Pakistan/Australia/West Indies/SA/NZ/England winning under-19 may not be a big deal. But BD winning definitely a major milestone in their cricketing history. We wish stronger and stronger teams to keep this wonderful game more enjoyable. Hope this is a small step in the right direction for BD. Let us not dilute their achievements with petty remarks.

Congratulations Bangladesh U19s, they defeated the favourites:vk

Conrats to BD U19.

What a win. Really high quality cricket from both sides. Amazing to watch. It was one of those games that had a nail biting finish. The game was like a see saw after every 5 overs.

The startegy Akbar had when he difussed all that tension was very clever.

1 Bangladeshi friend told me he lost his sister very recently "inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un". Cant imagine what his mental state was taking on such a responsbility.

Also heard one Indian bowler Dad had lost his farm to support his son. Now his son has an IPL contract and seems it all paid off

Such an incredible achievement! Congratulations! I think Bangladesh's time will come in Int'l cricket.. they definitely have the talent but they're usually just one or two superstars short. Someone who can win them them those 50/50 games, or someone who knows how to put the opposition out when the team is already ahead (Bangladesh seems to lose many games from winning positions).

Congrats to BD, hope these kids have long fulfilling careers and BD finally get over the batch of 2007. It's about time Tamim, Shakib, Mahmuddulah and Mushfiq are replaced.

Also always nice to see India losing.

Al Hamdulillah.

Congratulations to the Indian team for their fightback and making it wonderful game to watch. Special thanks ICC, SA for organizing an excellent tournament and all the participants, cricket fans, media.

That 5 run loss in the Asia cup finals last year was a good thing, little do we know.

Congratulations to the BD U-19 team. They played as a team. Bowling daunting Indian team out at 177 needed something special by everyone. The coaches, team management, and the players. Well deserved.

"WHAT A FEELING!!!!"
