Our 2 World cups and these 2 test series victories in AUS should be our biggest achievements over the past 75 years.
 
Mighty impressed with Siraj and Shardul, if it weren't for them we would be chasing 400+. Pant is a superstar, most talented WK bat in the world right now.

This is one hechuva historical win.
 
We should contionue tp play top level cricket.

All the money invested, must come good.
 
I still would say, lets be humble.
This team is still imbalanced. Our bowling is really good.. Batting has few chinks.
Long way to go. Have to win now in England, SAF atleast once in next 5-7 years but
this win will give them a lot of confidence.
Hopefully... Hopefully.
Else we rejoice this win.

Haven't India been No.1 in Test cricket for around 4 straight years ( 2016-2020)??

But yes this can be start of something special.

Not just some away from home, against Aus and defeating them at their strongest fortress. WOW!!
 
Gill and Pant atg material while siraj is very good. Shaw needs to get his game together.
 
Fantastic performance
I had believed that an Australian team with Smith, Warner and Labuschange would roll India and that 2018-19 was an aberration
I never believed that an Indian team could possess so much fight. The flair comes with many Indian cricketers, but many of these players have been softer in the past
Siraj, Washington and Gill are fantastic younger players who have a great attitude

Also a true tribute to test cricket

The young guys were so impressive. Pant, Siraj, Gill, Washington all have a bright future ahead of them. Shout out to Pujara that guy is all heart.

Another 5 years like this and this India can be ranked near the great Windies and Aus. But it requires a better showing in England next time (losses in NZ can be excused as they have their own GOAT NZ team right now, though beating them should also be on the bucket list).

Home dominance will continue obviously, so this leaves England and NZ as the final frontier. Maybe a WTC win on the cards too?

Fantastic win against Aus and well deserved. Absolute brilliance, I have to say.
 
Absolute quality.. this Indian team wow. To think without shami, bumrah and co. Just amazing. Greatest test series victory in my opinion. Better than the 05 Ashes

We won in Eng, Nz at some point/ multiple times in the past. We never won a series in SA, that is the only place left!
 
India also needs to win in England and SA. Not to forget NZ who humbled them not long ago.

Congrats India one heck of a series had it all. Deserved the series win apart from the second innings shocker in Adelaide India were easily the better side despite all the injuries and setbacks. A Test series for the ages well played hats off!
 
Great bunch of youngsters. Pant, Gill and Sundar only 21, their entire career ahead of them. Good days ahead for India.

The problem now will be the Eng series. Where do Kohli, Ashwin, Jadeja, Ishant, Bumrah, Sami, Yadav, B Kumar slot in?

What happens to Agarwal, Vihari, Rahul, Sundar, Siraj, Thakur?

Problem of plenty for India.

Talking about this team specifically under Kohli/Rahane. Imagine the title of “20s India” similar to “80s West Indies” and “00s Australia”.

For this, winning a series in England is a must and you should also be more competitive in NZ next time around.

I definitely think it’s possible the way this team is evolving and now you have the fantastic addition of Gill too.

Why does the world need domination? Fantastic tough series wins will do.

Cricket was boring with WI and Aus dominating so much.

Kohli and this team will probably not dominate, but play good cricket most of the time and try to win. While trying to win they will lose some tests which other teams will draw, but they will throw some results like this series. Makes it fun to watch cricket.

Ideally yes but india would want more ICC silverware and away wins. For a long time india was choking. This could open the floodgates.

I have never seen a better come back in my lifetime of watching cricket. From 36 all out to winning the series chasing 329 at Gabba on the 5th day. Congratulations to Indian fans. Heck of a performance. This will probably rank as one of the greatest test series wins of all time. Massive win for Indian cricket.

India is a strong contender to win the 2023 WC. If they win, plus a couple more excellent SENA Test series will put India into a very elite category.

Lack of silverware or at least finishing as finalists is really the only reason India is behind Pakistan of the 90s right now.

Forgot to add [MENTION=79064]MMHS[/MENTION] from Bangladesh. Probably more anti-Australia, than pro-India but your contributions in the match threads were enjoyable.
 
They have the most potential to dominate world cricket indeed! Have proven themselves to be a top top team!
 
They are not as good as Australia and WI of the past, but this is the greatest Asian Test side of all time.

To enter that discussion in ODI cricket, they need to lift the 2023 World Cup. They are certainly favorites along with England who have been the best ODI team over the past 6 years.

It will be hard for them to surpass Dhoni's team in ODI. Dhoni won pretty much everything that was there to win in shorter format.

This is a fairy tale win, 2001,2007,2011,2021 , didn't experience 83 surely that would be similar.
 
Hats off, what a strong collection of players India have, fiercely competitive too - Their next tour of England could also have a similar result.
 
Incredible win by young super stars. This skillful young team learned the craft from the best and are well funded. Mental strength and financial security from IPL. Cummins doesn't scare Shubman or Pant. They probably played him in the nets in IPL a thousand times or in the IPL games. It would have been amazing if they drew the game. But going for the win shows the incredible belief and absolute lack of fear of failure. Pujara a master blocker has stayed true to his game and stemmed the flow of wickets. Everybody played to their strengths. Now it's time to give up on Rohit and probably groom Rahul to join Gill at the top. Bowling resources haven't been better in India's history. They will definitely be one of the teams at Lords.

I think its better especially considering our situation prior to the boxing day test match. OTOH, England were at home during that series and both the tests they won were in absence of McGrath, their old nemesis in chief.

Dhoni’s India did not have to compete with an ODI juggernaut like Morgan’s England. Without England, India would be more dominant in ODI cricket today.

The circumstances are somewhat different. Nevertheless, the onus is on them to do what England did and win their home World Cup in 2 years time.

Well deserved series win, but they're not dominant.

They can't beat us or England at home.

I'd say us, Aus, India and England are more or less on the same level and capable of beating each other depending on venue.

lol, Australia has now lost 3 consecutive series to us (2 of them at home) while NZ hardly ever wins away.

Same for England except for their domination of SL in SL.

Yeah and a stronger Indian team couldn't make it to the 4th day in NZ.

We'll see what happens if we do meet up at Lords.

One thing for sure is that there's a lot of bench strength available now.

With the likes of Kohli back in the team, touring away to England wouldn't be as difficult as it was before.

Just need to let Rohit-Gill opening partnership settle a little so that there is some continuity. As for Mayank Agarwal, I don't know if he's short of confidence or what, but he doesn't seem like himself right now. Probably just a bad series for him, should get back on his feet against England.

India is at it's strongest right now, both as a team with players, and with their confidence levels. They have spat on Australia's hard work, and really shown what team they are with the authority that they played with.

Should look to whitewash England at home, and boost the confidence even more.

In my opinion, in the next two years, we will see a great surge from India, pushing to be one of the greatest test teams in the history of the game.

Confidence can do a lot to a player, even more to a team.

The WTC Final promises to be action packed, and I really look forward to seeing teams compete.

Are New Zealand confirmed finalists? And what is the requirement for India to qualify?
