What's new

Congratulations to India on a great series-levelling win in the 2nd Test against Australia

I'm just curious, what happens when Ishant Sharma and Shami are fit again? To me, both Siraj and Yadav have done really well, and it's a (good) problem for the Indian management. Shami probably comes in without any issues, what about Sharma?

Bumrah, Shami & Ishant are india first choice attack.

Sharma and Shami will replace Siraj and Yadav. Glad to see our backups are doing this great. Sharma is like the leader of the pack, he sets the tune. He is an absolute must and so is Shami who is probably the best old ball bowler in the world. I don't think we will play all our frontline pacers together for the home series. Siraj, Saini and Yadav will get their due chances.

Well played India. Great comeback from a very low point. Absence of Warner and Smith poor form balanced by Kohli absence.

Why are people so eager to pull Kohli done. Let's not forget the pace attack everyone raves about was built by Kohli. He started backing Yadav, Aaron bowl wild without fearing leak of runs back when MSD was happy with the Kumar's bowling 120 kph as per his field plans.

The most hardworking.
Across formats, the busiest player of the last decade.
First to turn up for training, last to leave.
Made fitness an obsession and a culture in Indian cricket.

Give Kohli his due respect for developing this team.

No one is perfect but the way some people make him scapegoat for every failure is sick.

Uhmm you also forgetting. Bhuvi? It is indeed a
Conundrum.

I am still sticking with our best 4

Bhuvi
Shami
Ishant
Bumrah

This needs to happen before I die.

We need Kohli the player. Not the captain.

India need to carry this through now.

If they don't then I will be back to bagging this Indian team, they need to show this wasn't a one off win.

Winning and losing is part and parcel of a game. I always look at how you play the game. There is no shame in losing if you fought well till the end. I would like to see that in the match against NZ as well, show us some fight till the end.

We need Kohli the player. Not the captain.

Hindsight bias clearly.

Rahane inherited a set team, a cricket nation on the rise. He didn't build this team, Kohli did that.

Could anyone imagine Rahane inheriting the team Dhoni left and taking it this level. He's barely survived this far as a test batsman. 2-3 test failures and he might even be dropped without a fuss.

England should be look at how Indias bowlers have performed and bowled here and make sure that come they next Ashes in Aus they get the selections right with fast bowlers they pick for the series.

Sure - Wood and Archer have to be the spearheads. Broad has another tour in him, and Stokes will be effective.

What they must not do is bowl medium pacers Anderson, Woakes and Curran because those guys will get whacked on the up all day.

The spin side is a problem though - I cannot remember an English spinner being effective there since Edmonds and Emburey again the very weak mid-eighties side.

My problem is that he has too much power for the results he has given

7 years on and we still don't have settled XI

No youngsters are given proper backing

Sure his handling of pacers is better than MSD but thats not saying much

Bhuvi is suited only for swing friendly conditions. Also is always unfit before a major series

Needed him in England tour

This has to be one of the best performances by an Asian team on Aussie soil, considering the outcome of the previous test and squad depletion due to world's best player not being available. Deserved win, and outplayed the hosts in all departments.

Oh look, Indian bowling is a good one, however you have to take into account the aussie batting lineup is quite weak with an out of form Steve Smith.

I would have loved to see this match up:

Bumrah,
Ishant Sharma,
Shami,
Ashwin,
Jadeja

vs the unbeatable aussie batsmen from Steve Waugh's side.

Out of form?He was smashing 60 ball tons in ODIs. Ashwin along with pacers have planned too well for him

Not sure Archer and Wood can keep their speeds up though. India bowled with exceptional accuracy at the MCG and were even more accurate than the Australian quicks. Our spinners are bowling like ATGs in Australia s well and I'm not sure England have the quality in the pace department with the kookaburra or a decent spinner who can even hold one end tight.

Congrats India. Richly deserved win. Hope to see a cracker of a finale in the next test. Hope Kohli will be available as well.

Fantastic victory. I don’t care who gets injured, we have great reserves in waiting , mark of a good test side. Expect Australia to come back hard else we are winning the series.

In that case Warner is a big miss with his form in the ODI series.

But I ageee India have planned well for
Smith. The fact is even an out of form Smith ( not saying he is) is a better batsmen than most

re Rahane vs Kohli as captain:

Rahane is not a leader. Kohli in addition to building the current test team is someone who demands respect just by his persona alone and can bring a team together to perform as a unit. He has all the qualities of a captain... at least in tests. In ODIs I think he should ditch captaincy for good.

This is the same as Pak drawing the England 2016 series 2-2 and people crediting Mickey Arthur for it who had just became coach with 0 series under his belt, and it was Waqar who as coach had helped sculpt the team from the previous years.

It's always fun watching Indian cricket matches. I take great pleasure in their losses because they are our arch-rivals and I take great pride in their wins because well we are the same race. It's a win-win situation. Congrats India, you really showed your character.

Kohli is a legend and an ATG caption. But he has issues with selection bias and seniority etc. That's what I have an issue with.

Same as me. I love to see Pakistan pummel the poms or anyone else barring India. But I like to see them lose too lol if they are in India's or South Africa's path.

Ajinkya Rahane’s brilliant captaincy and India’s 8-wicket win over Australia in the Boxing Day Test have impressed former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar. The legendary cricketer applauded the way Rahane led the side in a tough scenario, stating that the visiting Indian team has exhibited its class and character.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Akhtar said that this success is ‘making all the noise’ for a calm and composed Rahane.

“Team India has beaten Australia like how you beat up a person in a sack. Characters are not made in crisis, they are exhibited. Team India has exhibited their talent when they were in deep crisis. This is team India’s character,” Shoaib Akhtar said on his YouTube channel.

“The best part was that they showed heart and courage today. They didn’t have 3 of their star players but it didn’t matter to them. Ajinkya Rahane quietly led the team but his success is making all the noise for him today. They say work hard in silence and let your success make the noise,” he added.

Indian made four major changes in the playing XI for the Boxing Day Test and handed debut caps to two youngsters – Shubman Gill and Mohammad Siraj.

Gill, who replaced Shaw in the top of the order, played fearlessly against a lethal Australian attack while Siraj ticked all the boxes and justified his selection by scalping 5 wickets in the match. Lauding both the newcomers, Akhtar stated that they are certainly two rising stars of the Indian cricket team.

“India picked Siraj, he took 5 wickets. He is still young, couldn’t be by his father’s side when he passed away. He paid tribute to his father with his performance. Then came Gill, he’s certainly a big star in the making. So, Team India showed their character, that they have guts, heart and courage,” Akhtar further said.

“What impressed me the most was they should have fallen flat on their face in this match after the kind of defeat they suffered in the 1st Test. But they didn’t. They rose up to the challenge. When teams show their character like this, it doesn’t matter which religion or country the players belong to, I feel very happy,” he concluded.

Ajinkya Rahane Politely Refuses to Cut 'Kangaroo Cake'

Ajinkya Rahane got a heroic welcome in Mumbai after winning the Test series by 2-1 against Australia. The stand-in skipper who lives in Dadar near Ruparel College in Mumbai was welcomed with the beats of dhol as he walked into his building. Now, one of his fans brought him a cake with a kangaroo on top during the celebrations. But Rahane very politely refused to cut the cake and once again won the hearts of the fans. The video of the incident went viral on social media and the incident only earned him a lot of respect from the netizens.

This is not the first time that Rahane has been lauded for his gestures off the field. A bit long ago when Afghanistan was in India to play a Test match in Bangalore, Rahane was once again was the stand-in skipper. India won the Test match and after the presentation ceremony when the Indians celebrated their win by posing with the trophy, he asked team Afghanistan to join the home team for a snap. This was one memorable incident which is still recalled by a lot many fans. Now, let’s have a look at the recent incident.

India won the last Test match in Gabba which led them to win the series. Rishabh Pant was the hero of innings he scored 89 runs and led the team to a stunning win.

This guy is a true gentleman. No ego, great sportsmanship and down to earth. Following on the legacy of Rahul Dravid and SRT and being a great role model for youngsters on how to conduct themselves.
