What's new

Congratulations to Pakistan on a 2-0 Test series win against South Africa on home soil!

I'd say four teams in tier 1, two teams in tier 2 & three teams in tier 3.

& South Africa are much better than SL, WI & BAN but they are very faar behind BIG 3 & NZ.

SL beat us in uae last time around and beat south africa in south africa. They are same level as pakistan. , down these days as was pakistan in australia , nz and england.

Overall, it was one of the worst Test series I have ever watched. I don’t recall the last time a team played so poorly to inflict a whitewash on the opposition.

Pakistan were really poor in the 2012 England series when they won 3-0, but this was even worse.

Pakistan was 5/10, but South Africa was 2/10.

The record books do, and will always read 2-0 for Pakistan, so who cares what armchair expert on the internet, Mamoon says?

We might not have played at our best, but there were definitely some positives. Firstly, our lower-middle order and our tailenders were resilient with the bat, after poor collapses they rescued us and took us to better positions. Now, if our openers fired, that would theoretically mean that we'd post targets near or above 350.

Coming from a sequence of poor performances overseas, winning a series at home is important. The likes of Abid should be discarded, and some others should also look back at their performances and question whether they gave it their all.

Every champion team at home starts from barely winning games, having tight games, and struggling against top quality oppositions when they tour. The only thing that will determine whether or not Pakistan can become a champion team once again is how we move from this series. If the management can consider the faults, and rectify them, that's the only way to move on and become better. But knowing Pakistan cricket, it wouldn't be surprising to see them sit on their haunches and make no changes.

I believe our next tour is Zimbabwe, and against that type of team, we should be trying a different opening combination for one, and shuffling the MO to perhaps give Rizwan a higher batting number. Azhar can open temporarily for the years he has left, and given that most of our test series in the near future are at home or in the subcontinent, it would be wise to start opening with him.

The negatives were clearly there in our performances, but if the management can build from such a performance, then I think we'd be on the right track.
