Pakistan had following sequence at home in the last 3 years,

Win - Eng

Lost - Eng
Lost - BD
Lost - BD
Draw - NZ

Lost - Eng
Lost - Eng
Lost - Eng
Lost - Aus
Draw - Aus

One solitary win may seem like not that much but not winning anything at home can be very demorlizing for the team. This win will boost the morale in a big way for players. Specially after the shake up because wihthout this shake up, many would have started makng a case of Pakistan not scoring 100 runs without so and so. That's just a bogus talk.

First time in years, I saw players fighting in home test during the enire test match. I don't care about any other factors in this win, but players were fighting. Its good to see that it resulted in a win. It's a huge deal for players given the last 3 years at home. Otherwise you always think about not able to win from all kinds of positions in any given match. Now monkey is off the back, hopefully wins will happen more often.

Attitude while playing this test was fantastic from Pakistani players. Win or lose, play with the same attitude.

Congrats to Pakistani team.

Given the state of our cricket something had to give and changes had to be made sooner or later. Hopefully we can continue being brave

remove all traitors and selfmade superstars with audi cars from the team ..let them eat sleep with money .. team will continue performing well ...

Brilliant performance by Pak team. One must hope that it is not just a flash in the pan. This should also put some sense in PCB to prepare spinner friendly wickets from here on.

Absolutely. A loss here would have finished this team off. Sajid Khan was exceptional. Willing to get into their faces. There was no fight in Naseem, SSA and Abrar last game. Different conditions, yes, but it was clear as day that they were sandbagging. Everyone was fighting for their lives in this game. Good to see.

Pakistan's schedule does not get easier. There is a series decider next week. After that, the next test assignment is South Africa. It could get grim very quickly but for the first time in a very long time, there is hope.

The beacons of Multan are lit.

Not sure if OP is congratulating them or mocking them by showing stats of last 3 years :uak
No, I am sincerly saying that winning finally at home will be a huge deal for players. It's not good for morale to not win for years at home. Then you start losing confidence and bottle in matches despite being in a good situation. You forget to win.

Hopefully, this win will start the trend for many more wins at home.

That's only due to mother of pitch doctoring .

First time a test match played on used pitch in twst cricket history . :kp

Congratulations for the victory, but it's another false dawn.... barring two spinners who became lethal due to pitch the attack is still dirt garbage.

Shan Masood as captain is monotonous and lacking any energy

Some mocking is deserved
I am not mocking at all. Lots of posters were just saying that Pakistan will never win yada yada. Players also start thinking that way if you don't win for years at home. Winning or losing becomes a habit if trend continues for too long. Trend is broken.

I am not claiming that one win will turn around Pakistan's cricket 180 degreee. But importance of this win is underrated by many fans.

Just to put some things into perspective, Pakistan's 11 test winless streak at home was the longest for a top 8 nation in 25+ years. New Zealand went (OW, 6D, 6L) between 1994-97.

They were sinking to unimaginable lows.

That's what I was pointing out. You got to show fight, that was missing.

The importance of this win is only that series will have a decider.

Hopefully our batters will turn a leaf , Rawalpindi is a complete concrete slab

That's a bad news given Eng bats well on such pitches.

Any, whatever happens in the next test, winning finally was important otherwise players stop having belief in themselves.

Traditionally its a flat wicket but definitely the curators will look to manoeuvre it

Pcb knew all along to prepare spinning track
But the problem was where were they going to hide babar azam, shaheen and rizwan

Yah, doesn't need to be rank turner or anything like that. Just something for bowlers.

Whatever pitch they may prepare but importantly they must win toss otherwise I don't think this team can win

Even winning toss may not help if it's a super dead pitch. Eng may just outbat Pakistan. I think Pakistan won the toss in first test and scored big runs.

Main thing is to not give super dead track. Yes, if you win toss then it's much better. Toss you can't control.

Well deserved win for Pakistan.

In this era, you have to be very strong at home. Don't think of it like 80s, 90s and 00s where most teams were more or less similar home and away.

Since 2010, everyone has been dominant at home.

Well whatever track they are preparing pakistan need to win toss to decide their win / loss
If they lose the toss ,then it's 80% confirmed they will lose the match
Their bowlers will not contain English batters in 1st day pitch wther it's dead or spinning wicket ( mostly will be good for batting on 1st day )

Yah, not saying that toss is not important, but toss is luck. Preparing super dead pitch is not luck.

You can't control the first, but you can control the second.

Focus should be on what you can control.

This is a reflection of how incompetent PCB is. It is not a slight on the players.

India would be ranked 5th or 6th in Test cricket if they were to play their home Tests on highways.

Why should India play in flat pitch, even in flat pitches indian batting will mostly outbat and indian spinners will out bowl opposite teams. Only incompetent and idiot board like PCB will produce flat highways knowing full well opposition team will outshine pakistan team.

They did play against Eng on highway.

Some of the scores were

759/7 declared
631
537
488
477
455
417
400

Eng scored 5-6 tons in that series.

Final score line 0-4 loss to Eng

-----------------------

I don't think any team should have entire series in higways. Serves no other purpose than boosting average of ordinary batsmen. No fans want to watch series like that.

It's definitely the latter, there's a lot of goading and provocations going on atm by parties adverse to Pakistan cricket.

Yet another lie and india did Played on road against England .

How many time i exposed you .

Good to see the boys get a win and get back to feeling good. It's been so miserable across all formats over the past year+ and hopefully this gives them a boost of confidence going forward.

Nice, this England team is as overrated as it gets, all asian teams should send them back with defeats, thats the only way this Bazball bubble is going to burst.

The overriding emotion for me is relief. After the Bangladesh series we needed to do three things:

- End the worst winless run of home Tests most people here would've seen in their lifetimes.

- Find some kind of formula for success in home Tests.

- Hold senior players to account.

We've done all those things albeit in our typical haphazard style. It's clear the way forward is turning pitches, arguably even against Asian teams. Don't forget our only series win since 2022 is away in SL last year.

Most of our batsmen have higher averages against spin than seam while our seamers lack pace, discipline and fitness. Therefore building an attack around spin, essentially reverting back to our old UAE formula, seems logical.

The big question is whether we can prepare fresh pitches that turn ? This was a happy accident with consecutive Tests at the same venue. I fear in Pindi we'll see another highway.

As for the dropped trio, they can't have any complaints and must earn recalls through FC performances. However Pakistan's talent pool is too shallow to simply discard players like scrap paper. Get qualified people to work with them on their weaknesses. If they're fit, firing and have the right attitude, that can only be a benefit for Pakistan cricket.

I blame the BCCI and ICC for the pitches that pakistan was forced to play on. Otherwise they are better than the Indian cricket team.

LOL we opened the bowling with Jamal. Pak cricket and (pace) bowling is at an all time low. Cant sink any lower then this.

If are at the lowest abyss and still beat England for now I will take it.

Enjoy the win man. There have been plenty of lows and heartbreaks lets celebrate a win.

Yes, Pakistan did all three things. Last question will be answered during the 3rd test.

Hope it's a traditional Asian pitch and not a super road.

Congratulations Pakistan. Go and bully bazzball again in third test.

That is what was needed from Pakistan, to dominate the game at home and they did it 100% right.

Now they should be looking to play to their strength once again in Pindi.

Congratulations to Pak team for this win....
Irrespective of whatever is said about pitch/selections they showed fighting never say die attitude and bowled with intensity, especially Sajid the Don in 1st innings - i think this was missing earlier. Salman agha also shows the same spark.
If they show the same intensity in 3rd test , no reason why it can also be won.

Win or loss can happen, but fighting in entire match is something teams should always do. Pakistan did in the 2nd test.

"Our comeback in the second game gave us a really good morale boost. A win is always very helpful in creating a positive atmosphere." -- Shakeel

--------------------------

I was making the same point. Winning changes the morale in a big way.

Hopefully they will carry forward it to not make it a fluke, 1st win in 3½yrs and 1st win in 11 Tests,
