Controversially Yours by Shoaib Akhtar

Akhtar is right.... Teenda was never comfortable against Akhtar especially in test matches where he has a poor record..... Indian fans keep talking about one fluke ODI innings...

Waiting for an apology or backtracking on his opinion on Sachin and Dravid.
Depends on your definition of backtracking. He has of course showered Sachin in particular with praise in the past and will in the future, and none of the comments in the book contradict that either.

Apology from dearest Shobbi? I think there are quite a few people who have been waiting for quite a long time for an apology from the man.

@gagdhillon: According to Shoaib, a Pakistani cricketer switched the ball in the umpire's pocket(during lunch break) with one that reversed like crazy.

Smart enough to add all the controversial topics to sell his book. He has been guided by some smart people to make good and easy money.

Good luck to people who fall in this trap.

Wasim Akram Tried To Ruin My Career: Shoaib Akhtar

Shoaib Akhtar in his autobiography ‘Controversially Yours’ has accused Waseem Akram of trying to ruin his career, Geo News reported Friday. The former Pakistani fast bowler said that he was supported by Tauqeer Zia during that time.

According to the autobiography, Waseem Akran had threatened to separate half the team if Akhtar was included. Akhtar also admitted to ball tampering and advised that this should be allowed in cricket.

On Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid, the autobiography stated the Indian batsmen were not match winners. Akhtar described his experience in the IPL as unpleasant and was critical of both Lalit Modi and Shahrukh Khan.

Akther was a controversial character on and off the field anyway so he's not trying to be controversial, he is controversial and his reputation precedes him with this autobiography. There is no trap. In fact it's refreshing to read some of this stuff.

Akhtar cited an example where he felt that Sachin was mighty scared to face him.

“We would have faced a humbling defeat in the series but for the fact that we reined in Sachin Tendulkar. What went in our favour was that Sachin was suffering from tennis elbow! This severely handicapped the great batsman. We managed to psychologically browbeat him.”

“We bounced the ball at him and were able to unnerve him. I returned to the dressing room that first day with the knowledge that Sachin was not comfortable facing fast and rising ball. He was distinctly uncomfortable against me. That was enough to build on”, he said.

I bowled (Sachin) a particularly fast ball which he, to my amazement didn’t even touch. He walked away! That was the first time, I saw him walk away from me - that too, on the slow track at Faisalabad. It got my hunting instincts up and in the next match I hit him on the head and he couldn’t score after that”, Akhtar wrote.

As already pointed out the video was prior to the IPL/SRK incident.

Please keep up.

This should be distributed to all Pakistani players by the PCB, the modern 'Art of War'. Not the first time members of the Indian team have been accused of chickening out either.

‘I tampered with the ball’

However, the most shocking part of the biography is Shoaib Akhtar’s admission of ball tampering. In a chapter of the book not only does he admit to tampering with the ball but also adds that he did so on a number of occasions. Shoaib adds that it’s not just him but everyone else also does the same. He adds that a solution would be to legalise this in the larger interest of the game.

In his TV interview Shoaib also clarified on his ball tampering saying,“Tampering with the ball was a ritual, everybody was doing it. There was one Pakistani bowler who actually changed the ball from the umpire's coat pocket. Waqar, Sachin they have all done it. People use chewing gum on it, using nails, bottle tops. And I say legalise it on dead pitches you can’t really bowl, it’s impossible to get the ball to do anything.”

quotes from his interview.
ROFLMAO after reading the bolded part

Drawing parallels, the gravity of substance in Akthar's book, it seems thus far, is as explosive as the content found in The Islamic Bomb by Steve Weissman.

This could turn out to be one of those “The days that changed the world” moments.

wasim was spot on...
back then ... waqar was out of form in 1999 india series shoiab came in the team.. and rest in history..

shoiab made debut after pakistan already won the test series vs west indies in 1997 leading by 2-0 with 1 to play.

there is no question... it was wasim... who gave him break... and told him many things....

trusting other people advice is like trusting usa on 9/11 anyhow

i will never ever trust any one... unless i have seen myself or heard it ...

Before bowling that epic Yorker to Sachin Tendulkar in Calcutta'99. I walked to him and asked "Do you know me?". He replied "No". And I said "Now you will know me soon.............

this baffles me though. I know wasim dropped waqar because of differences, but why would he want to drop akhtar as well. At the end of the day, being a captain, he had to make sure match winners are in the team.

That Moment on Cricinfo

Shoaib Akhtar to Tendulkar, OUT, Akhtar to Tendulkar, OUT (Caught) - got'm! another nasty short delivery aimed at the rib-cage, Tendulkar fends at it awkwardly, ball moves in just enough to clip the glove and Akmal makes no mistake, Akhtar nets the big fish - India five down and in deep trouble here

As I said earlier .. this book is going to be epic.

agree man and i heard somewhere also zahids...

he could bowl no doubt but he is big cheat!...

:yk:yk:yk

zahid? how

comon man zahid was with team when saeed anwar and then rameez raja were test captains

and it was raja who over bowled him in those dead pitches of sri lanka inn 1997...

when wasim was the captain zahid played down under in aussie did fine with both waqar n wasim n zahid in team..

If he was that much bothered about wining, why he would have been into fixing stuff?

yarr fix tho kartha tha but offcourse har match thori karey ga. As a captain of the team, you will always like to have match winners around. If you will loose all the time, how will you remain captain?

What I most want to know is what Asif said to Akhtar in 07 :batgate :altaf

Shoaib has this horrible Indian accent. Arghh Why? He used to speak so normally few years ago...

'Lt. Gen. Tauqir Zia (Chairman Ad hoc Committee) December 1999-2003

wasim was sacked from captaincy after series down in aussie land in 2000

so when did he tried to ruin his career?

first clear this as a captain or as a player

under wasim captaincy shoaib best odi spell cames wel most of them

under wasim leadership pakistan won many things.

google it

That wasnt only coz of Wasim captaincy!

The team we were having that time should have dominated world cricket but because of his politics and fixing, we were nevr a dominating force.

Imran left a Legacy
Wasim laid foundations to ruin it
And the rest ruined it.

Other than Imran Khan, no captain has ever given a "break" to any player. No Captain had any say in selection process. PCB has always selected the squad.... (except when Imran was captain). On tours, it is up to tour selection committee (captain, vc, manager) who to play.

What do you mean in the context of this post?

i will never ever trust any one... unless i have seen myself or heard it ...
True...

Shoaib on the T20 2007 WC incident with Asif: "Afridi did what he always does: leaked the news. He is very friendly with the Karachi media"

we all know that part...

I would be MOST interested to know his comments / observations about current Pakistan team members (OR recently retired as well) with whom Shoaib played.

So looking forward to get insights about Afridi, Malik, Yousuf, Younis, Misbah, Kamran etc

when wasim was made captain in 1993 for the west indies

many cried javed miandad thought he will be the captain

waqar thought he will be the captain

others said wasim was appointed coz imran khan was advisor 2 pcb

miandad tried 2 hit a 6.... with only few balls 2 go b4 end of play in one of those test...

blame it on wasim yes pakistan is ruined coz of wasim but others are saints born saints.

So that no one comes near his record..

Everyone has its share in it but as i said earlier, Wasim laid the foundations of this disaster.

My book ‘Controversially Yours’ is just not what I’ve seen but also what I’ve learned. It's my opinion & I just made sure it was the truth.

What has Shoaib written about Ross Taylor?
Or on being rejected by the team management for the epic clash in Mohali and opting for youngster in order to save him from featuring in another 03 Type phainty ?

lol, what Ross Taylor ? He'll say him to thank Kamran Akmal, otherwise it would have been his first duck, and the fact that Shoaib Akhtar took 17 Test wickets v. New Zealand at a ridiculous average of 5.23. :)
Hilarious, isn't it, that someone you called an 'ordinary' bowler averages 5 against a Test nation ? 5 being a dream for Indian trundlers, and the average height of your batting legends.

And please, don't bring the usual Indian sauce: "we've destroyed the career of Saqlain Musthtaq, Waqar Younis, etc etc". It becomes really irritating to see you guys doing a cerebral sati because Teenda had a rare good day against his baap Shoaib Akhtar. Video already posted. :)
Enjoy your hopely-soon-defunct-stay on this forum differently bro'. :)

As an Indian I expect you only remember phaintys given the thousands that were handed out to your team throughout their cricketing history ... if you somehow work out a way to take those blinkers off, you'd know Akhtar had Taylor twice in an over before his late assault.

Yeah the World saw which Bacha was made to sit out for the "Match of the Century " due to fear of his Dad playing in the opposition team.

And regarding the last clash against India, Akhtar will be remembered how he got pawned by Bhajji. Remember the look at Akhtars face after Bhajji finished the match, now thats called priceless.

Just how obsessive Indian news channels are is demonstrated by this clip.

Whilst interviewing a Shoaib Akhtar on his new book launch, they show a BIGGER split screen showing the GREAT Sachin Tendulkar hitting probably the only six he managed to hit off the fast man in his whole career!!

These clowns really need to get some fresh air.

Oh God for how long are these retarded Indians going to attempt to attach some sort of importance to that Harbhajan fluke in a useless Asia Cup game ... I think they jelly of :jm

Akhtar wanted to play that match but Waqar played politics its not that Akhtar Chickened out. Waqars decision would have been criticized but Riaz bowled the best spell ever. Hence all was well.
