“Afridi did what he always does: leaked the news. He is very friendly with the Karachi media”
Hi all.
Been reading this site for a while now and I've finally got some time to post now.
I think it's quite sad and unfortunate that any cricketer needs to be so "in" with certain sections of the media. If you are playing well and doing the business on the field then the media will automatically praise you.
You shouldn't need to invite the media for dinner or whatever else to get them on side.
This sort of action has the stench of insecurity and desperation.
As if giving stupid statements wasnt enough.
As I said, afridi is a joke, and so are all of the fans who defend his immature acts
What did he expect...somebody like Akhtar commenting on Rahul Dravid that he is not a match winner..Rahul Dravid of all people!!!!! even the Sachin remark...being absolutely BS of the highest order...
All this just to earn money....taking a dig at legends....taking a dig at his own country...taking a dig at his fellow mates...and bringing out incidents in dressing room which are supposed to over there and then...
Well I think this is just what he needed, now this news will be all over. And he'll get more publicity. Why else do you think he'll launch the book India first and has not so good things to say about Indian players?![]()
Just shows, Akhtar has never been about the money. Respect.
Despite he will get more publicity, but Indians are not going to buy this book as it was expected. Indian fans are loyal to their players especially to Sachin and Dravid.
Akhtar was stupid enough to add those lines about Indian icon players and will come back to haunt him big time.
Agree, if akhter was to say that Sachin and Dravid are the greatest batsmen he bowled against, people in india would be lining up for hours to get akhter's autograph on this book.
Nothing suprising.
I'm pretty sure if Akhtar called Sachin the greatest batsmen, it probably would sold a gazillion copies.
Just shows, Akhtar has never been about the money. Respect.
didnt akhtar also say that
afridi told him to ignore all the offers for fixing
such a selective human being you are zaid 65
So Akhtar was trying to say, if this would not be Afridi's advise, he would have gotten involved in match fixing?
There was a time I loved this guy thank god I grew up and realized what a idiot this guy really is. You compare him toand you automatically start despising this guy.
The dressing room problems should be solved in the dressing room and not leaked to the media especially when you are not even involved in the whole incident. I wish Akther had smackedwith the bat instead of

Shoaib Akthar has India trembling by its hands and knees.
Over what? A book?
A fine example of Greatness in the absence of stats!
Ho ho ho!
no if you read with a broad mind and toss away all prejudice it implies afridi is an honest man who encouraged his friends to be honest as well, who stayed away from fixing and encouraged others to do the same
First post and top class one!!
It come down to level of journalism, currently majority of the Geo sports reporters are basically reporters, not journalist. They have no clue what is professional journalism is all about, showing Afridi's 5 year old daughter's interview to leaking the dressing room news through Afridi is not a journalism.
india "trembling" by its hand and knees)

you should be person whom karan johar acted as an assistand director...
Reaction to a comment made on it's heroes rahul dravid and sachin tendulkar is considered trembling!!!!
Yeah....we allowed akhtar to come to india ..promote his book and do what ever he is doing with out any harm..but when he makes rubbish comments against rahul dravid and sachin..we are supposed to stay calm..ofcourse media will react..what did you expect!! And you call that trembling by its hand and knees... Lol !!

Wow, seeing how the whole Bharat can't handle Shoaib's +100 mph verbal bouncers, can't wait to touch and especially read the book.

The reaction is based on emotional insecurity, better known as fear.
That's the most epic side to all of this! Indians scored an own goal! Played in their own back yard! Should've read the book first! Too late now, the fire has spread!)
BTW, I love your sig. Could you add some colour to it? It will then stand out as a symbol of ownership cos that's what it is. A reminder that I am the cause to your sleepless nights. Pretty please?![]()
Shoaib Akhtar was a problem and remains a problem: Wasim Akram

Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram today ridiculed Shoaib Akhtar and his controversial autobiography, which has made several tall claims, saying that the pacer was a "problem" when he was an active player and remains just that even in retirement.
Akram pooh-poohed Shoaib's claims of making Sachin Tendulkar uncomfortable with his pace in the Faisalabad Test in 2006 and also rejected some of the other allegations he has made in the book titled Controversially Yours.
"I remember one of Sachin's knocks in the Sialkot Test. It was the fourth Test and the wicket had lot of grass, I was 22 and Waqar was 19 and we were very fast," Akram recalled.
"Waqar hit him on his chin and he came back after taking treatment and scored a 50. If a 16-year-old can't be scared, I don't think any batsman can be scared. It hardly matters what Shoaib says," Akram told reporters here.
Akram said Shoaib, who was a controversial figure all through his playing career, was just trying to sell his book with tall claims and also rejected allegations that he tried to destroy the tearaway pacer's career.
"Whatever the Pakistan Cricket Board says, I am with them. He was a problem when he was in the team and he is a problem when he is out of the team," Akram said.
"He knows, I know and the world knows that he was himself responsible for destroying his career. There is a lot to talk but I don't want to humiliate him. There is an unwritten code among players that some facts should not be revealed before the media," he warned.
"You guys (media) will ensure that his book is a bestseller," he said.

Comments: Unwritten code my ass. Did Wasim follow this unwritten code when it came to his autobiography? Did the PCB, follow this code when it came to batgate, warts? Wasim should just continue kissing Indian ass. Didnt even read the book to understand the comments.
If Sachin wasnt scared of the W's when he was 16 then that's their fault. I remember that Faisalabad test match of 2006 and Sachin looked all at sea against Shoaib, he walked off without even waiting for the umpires decision.
Shoaib Akhtar should apologise to Tendulkar and Dravid: BCCI
PTI | Sep 24, 2011, 06.25PM IST
KANPUR: Senior BCCI functionary Rajiv Shukla on Saturday demanded an apology from Pakistani speedster Shoaib Akhtar for making disparaging remarks against India's batting stalwarts such as Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid in his biography.
In the just-released book 'Controversially Yours', Akhtar had words of praise for Tendulkar and Dravid but his remark that they lacked ability to finish off games early in their respective careers has created a controversy.
Shukla, a senior BCCI official and IPL chairman, said Tendulkar did not need any certificate from Akhtar as his class was acknowledged by none other than Sir Don Bradman.
"He (Tendulkar) is still touching new heights and as far as Dravid is concerned, he is continuing to play some great knocks, which shows his commitment to the team. Whatever Shoaib has written is distasteful.
"A player such as Tendulkar does not need any certificate from Shoaib as he got that from Australian legend Sir Don Bradman. Tendulkar does not need to prove anything to Shoaib. He must apologise to both Tendulkar and Dravid," Shukla, who was here to attend UPCA AGM, told reporters.
Talking about India's forgettable England tour, Shukla blamed injuries to key players for the debacle.
"The main reason for the defeats was that some of our key players were not in the team due to injuries. But we must say that England players were outstanding and whoever plays better wins," Shukla said.
The new IPL chairman rebutted the suggestions that players were overworked and that their injuries aggravated by playing in the T20 league.
"We have a lot players in the reserve slot. When a player gets injured or want to take rest due to fatigue, he informs and we replace him. We did the same during the England tour and we got some new talent. Nobody now can say that the schedule of the Indian team is tight. We play as much as some other leading nations," he said.

Shoaib Akhtar should apologise to Tendulkar and Dravid: BCCI
Indians again proving that they are an insecure & sensitive lot. Free Nation, My foot . An Ex Cricket Star from Pakistan isnt being permitted to launch his book and give his honest opinions about a certain overhyped God, its dictatorship . Indians cant handle criticism. End of.
Oh come on..see now you want to sense superiority by giving sleepless nights to somebody in an internet. No sir...I dont think about you after the arguement.....my life is not as miserable as yet that somebody in the internet can give me sleepless nights....
and the first part about the own goal...what..seriously how old are you...because my 10 yr old niece is more mature than you..
Irrelevant to the OP - this thread has been merged. Save your drivel in this thread, no one cares about your mental problems.
Respect the great man who has schooled the Indian team with a ball, and is now schooling India with his words - Shoaib Akthar. Remember the name! Put it in your sig too!

It is mere stupidity if you did not expect any reaction for making comments on Rahul Dravid and Sachin in India...promoting his book in India..and is still promoting!!
Yawns.
Sachin started his career in 1989 - Still Running from Lord's.
Yawns.
Sachin started his career in 1989 - Still Ruling the Cricket World.
Akhtar started his career in 1997 - achieved nothing significant over a longer period of time other than being part of controversies which tarnished the image of the Sport & his country - Career finished in 2011.
Back to selling books now while taking digs at Legends who are still playing the game.
Plain Irony.
