Controversially Yours by Shoaib Akhtar

What's really pissing me off the most is seeing Shoaib's fellow Pakistani Cricketers, *** lickers like Akram and Butt siding with the Indians. They havent even read the book, where has he blamed others for destroying his career? Hasnt Shoaib on record been saying that he is satisfied with his achievements because injuries would not have permitted much more?

He has the right to reveal everything he saw and experienced in the dressing room.

Pakistani actor Humaima Malick, 25, is not amused with the allegations made by cricketer Shoaib Akhtar against her rumoured love interest, former cricketer Wasim Akram.

In his recently released autobiography, Controversially Yours, Akhtar says Akram attempted to finish his career.
Malick, however, lashes out, “Shoaib has always been in news because of others. It’s stupid of him to say something like this. I know Wasim will never spoil anyone’s career. He is much senior to Shoaib, and in the one year that I have known him, I have always seen him supporting young talent,” says the actor. “Wasim is not the kind of person who can ever be insecure of anyone,” she adds.

What about her current equation with Akram? “Wasim is a dear friend. I can’t say if the relationship will go any further from here but the friendship will surely strengthen,” she says.

The actor, who stars with singer Atif Aslam in Bol, will walk the runway for designer Honey Waqar at Bridal Asia today. Ask her about Bollywood plans and she says, “ I would love to star with Amitabh Bachchan.” But isn’t the actor too young to be paired with Big B? “Age is just a number for artists,” she says.

Guess Shoibh's PR staff will be in demand after this!! Its sad how media is reacting..although I dont agree with some of his views..but there is no need to. Seems honest from interviews...
 
As always, Kamran Abbasi trying to be funny but ending up making a fool out of himself. Shoaib, of all people, mumble with words and gives you a blank answer? what are you smoking? :facepalm:

I guess the difference between him and other known analysts like Harsha/Osman is that he doesnt have his own opinion, doesnt believe in research and is always the first to jump on the bandwagon.
 
Imho, Shoaib should have dedicated his book to Vaughan and Hussain. The way they exposed India's emotions on this England tour showed what a great publicity tool the most subtle of comments against Indian cricket can be. Both have become more famous due to mass over-reactions and Akhtar, like a shark smelling blood, has decided to get himself a piece of the action. Hopefully he can use the money to fund a 100mph acadamey which will ironically produce a million more speedsters than Lillee at MRF. :akhtar :akhtar
 
I've already read more than half of the book - amazing, so far, reveals a lot of things. Quite funny in most parts, as well.
 
Don't let Shoaib enter India, says Sarfraz

Former Pakistan pacer Sarfraz Nawaz slammed the Rawalpindi Express for criticising Indian greats Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid in his book. "The media should boycott his book launch events.

The Indian government should ensure that no copy of his book is sold in the country. He shouldn't be allowed to enter India henceforth," Sarfraz told MiD DAY from Lahore yesterday.

Meanwhile, Shoaib's book release function in Bangalore has been called off amidst the controversy.
Shoaib claimed that Tendulkar and Dravid are not match-winners nor did they know the art of finishing games. He also accused former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram for not giving him a chance at the right time.

"Sachin and Dravid are the world's greatest run-getters, so how could you question them? As far as Akram is concerned, how is it possible that he tried to sabotage his career? Wasim retired in 2003 and Shoaib played till the last World Cup. He has nothing to substantiate his claims. He is just talking nonsense," added 62-year-old Sarfraz.

"Obviously, all this is a just to sell his book. I don't think we should pay any attention to him. He had spoken highly about Shah Rukh Khan (when he was picked to play for KKR in the IPL), and now he is accusing him of being a cheat. How can you trust this guy? He has no credibility," Sarfraz fumed.

The candid Pakistani was also critical about Akhtar's ball tampering claims. "If he has said so, then the ICC and PCB should take action against him. By admitting to ball-tampering, he has put Pakistan in bad light. He is a disgrace to the nation. He's a liar and has broken many player code violations in the past," Sarfraz concluded.

Mumbai: South Africa pace bowling legend Allan Donald is not surprised over Shoaib Akhtar's claims that almost all Pakistani bowlers tamper with the ball.

"I am pretty sure that they have been doing it for a very long time. He's coming out and saying it now. What's new?" Donald said from South Africa.

Mumbai: South Africa pace bowling legend Allan Donald is not surprised over Shoaib Akhtar's claims that almost all Pakistani bowlers tamper with the ball.

"I am pretty sure that they have been doing it for a very long time. He's coming out and saying it now. What's new?" Donald said from South Africa.

"Almost all Pakistani fast bowlers have tampered with the ball. I may be the first one to openly admit to it but everybody is doing it," Shoaib wrote in his autobiography 'Controversially Yours'.

"To be honest, every team in the world tampers with the ball. We probably started it, but today no team is innocent and virtually every fast bowler does it. That is the only way to survive because the wickets are so slow," Shoaib wrote.

Interestingly, in an interview in 2009, Donald suggested that the International Cricket Council should allow bowlers to "prepare" the ball.

"The ICC would shoot me for saying it but with the wickets that we play on and the dying breed fast bowlers are becoming on these flatter wickets, I would say we do need some sort of defence mechanism, something to fall back on to say, 'right, we can do this. We can now prepare this ball to go'," Donald told then.

The current South Africa bowling coach stressed to MiD DAY: "I made that comment in England a couple of years ago - pity for bowlers to play on flat wickets and I did say that ball tampering be made legal. I sort of said it tongue-in-cheek because I knew what sort of response I was going to get."

Donald indicated that Pakistan are masters of the 'art'. "I'm sure we have seen it in the past. When I played against Pakistan, they worked hard on the ball and there was one occasion I remember seeing Waqar Younis giving the ball a real workout and he was caught on television in the United Kingdom.

"Look, it is one way of preparing a ball and it's another gig to execute your skill for reverse swing. Pakistan have been unbelievable at that. Wasim Akram was probably the best bowler when the ball was reversing, won so many games and played in conditions which were very tough in the sub-continent."

About Shoaib's reported comments in the book that Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid are not match-winning batsmen, Donald said: "It's a big statement to make. I am not sure I agree with Shoaib on that one. I have seen the little master and Dravid when they were at their absolute best and see India home on several occasions. When India were in all sorts of trouble, they have won games on their own.

"Shoaib might be referring to sometimes when Sachin was not able to go on. To my mind, they have done exceptionally well under immense pressure and shown their absolute class."

Donald has been England and New Zealand's bowling expert before being signed up by the South African board earlier this year. His next challenge is Australia in next month's home one-day and Test series.

PCB wants to prove Akhtar`s conduct in Court through his book

Lahore: The PCB would try to justify the disciplinary action taken by it against Shoaib Akhtar as it has sought permission from the Lahore High Court to present excerpts from his autobiography, which the Board feels gives a good account of former paceman`s own conduct.

Akhtar, who has now retired from international cricket, had filed a writ petition two years back against the 18-month ban and seven million rupees fine imposed on him by a PCB arbitration tribunal.

Akhtar was provided temporary relief by the Court, which suspended the ban, allowing him to resume his international career, but didn`t give a ruling on the fine.

PCB got that fine by deducting money from Akhtar`s dues with the Board and the fast bowler now wants his money back.

A recent scheduled hearing could not held and PCB legal advisor said they have filed an application with the court that when the hearing is held they want permission to submit excerpts of Akhtar`s autobiography to prove his conduct.


"We will submit relevant portions of the autobiography relating to his conduct to confirm to the court that the action taken against him by the arbitration tribunal was justified. We will with the help of the autobiography convince the court about his past conduct," PCB legal advisor Tafazzul Rizvi said.

The autobiography -- Controversially Yours -- has caused a storm in India as the book carries some controversial remarks about the Indian players, PCB and his fellow teammates.

Akhtar`s comments about batting icons Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid led to cancellation of book-launch ceremonies in Mumbai and Bangalore.

Akhtar claimed in his book that Tendulkar and Dravid were not match winners in the early days of their respective careers.

Karachi: Preferring to play down the controversy stirred by Shoaib Akhtar`s recently released autobiography `Controversially Yours`, in which he has made some tall claims, Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik said there was no point in giving much importance to the pacer`s book.

"When his own family does not take him seriously, I don`t understand why is everyone taking his comments in his book seriously?" Malik told a TV channel in an interview, where he appeared with his wife, Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza.

Shoaib and Sania appeared on a TV show in Pakistan and spoke on issues concerning their lives and how marriage had changed things.

Sania said that she would like to see her husband accomplish a lot of milestones in international cricket and believed that he still has a lot to offer to Pakistan cricket.

"I am a fan of Shoaib, the cricketer, and believes he has lot of years of international cricket left in him. I want to see him reaching more milestones in the coming years," Sania, in a first ever detailed appearance on a Pakistani TV channel, said.

Sania admitted that the period when Shoaib was out of the Pakistan cricket team, she was constantly supporting him and telling him to keep his spirits up and keep on performing in domestic cricket.

"It has been a difficult time for us after marriage because both of us have had to travel a lot but we have remained very close to each other and constantly kept in touch," Sania said.


Describing her husband as a "romantic person", who fulfills her wishes even before she expresses them, Sania confirmed that the couple had first taken to liking each other and then their families met to finalise the wedding. Stating that she doesn`t like to comment on media reports concerning their married life and like to stay clear of controversies, Sania said, "I don`t speak on these issue but no matter what people say we are very happy together and personally I am very satisfied and happy."

Sania and her family are presently in Karachi on a private visit with Shoaib, who is playing in the national T20 championship in the city.

Both the sportspersons also spoke about their desire to see their marriage helping in some way to bridge the troubled relations between Pakistan and India as a lot of things are common between the people of the two countries.

Sania, meanwhile, also talked about the successful doubles partnership between India`s Rohan Bopanna and Pakistan`s Aisam-ul-Haq in international tennis.

"I think what they are doing is creditable because them playing together shows that Pakistanis and Indians can get along well with each other," Sania said.

She also said that while it was difficult to see herself pairing up with Aisam on the international circuit, but not impossible.

Even Shoiab Mirza ditched him , well done Indian Damaad:))
 
Malik now distances himself from the book, another tick in the crooks column. This is the pattern folks.

Well just goes to show that even Ordinary Cricketers dont want to tarnish there reputation any further by coming in support of Akhtar .
 
The IQ level of Indian supporters has to be questioned. Expecting an ordinary cricketer like Malik who has been criticized in the autobiography to come out in support of Akhtar.

If only all these self-proclaimed ambassadors of intelligence knew how Shoaib Akhtar doesn't give a toss about all their enlightened statements.
It's his O-P-I-N-I-O-N: one person, 1.2 billion trundlers or the whole cosmos disagreeing don't change the fact that it remains his O-P-I-N-I-O-N, personal & subjective.

I think you'll find very few people agree with him. In my mind, this is all a publicity stunt which has succeeded more than anyone could have imagined.

As I read somewhere else, Shoaib will be laughing all the way to the bank.

When a nation of 1.2 Billion must rely on the opinions of their arch rivals to ridicule a book cos they don’t have the sand or intelligence themselves, it says a lot about India.

This whole thing is hilarious and has blown itself out of proportions. Akhtar is NOT the first one to say something regarding Sachin & match-winning. Some indian poster here said it was IK who first stated it. I'm not sure if that's true or not, but during the 2000's MANY pundits (including the indian media) started questioning sachin when he was continuing to make runs but india was still losing. Many indian pundits themseves were saying "sachin is past it" etc etc. I donno what akhtar has said that is so hurtful!!

Also, one more point to note is that his comment about the test match where sachin walked even though it appeared he didn't even glove it is COMPLETELY understandabe as sachin has OFTEN stood his ground (in one isntance in Austraia, he even reviewed a decision where the umpire gave him out after edging the ball and ofcourse, the review was turned down as there was a thick edge).

So my question then is... why did sachin walk that day when it even appeared on tv replays that it might not have even hit the glove. can someone post a youtube of that delivery and commentary please??

Asim hasn't said anything "stupid" i dont think... he's probaby a sachin fan as are quite a few pakistanis. And also probably a dravid fan (as is almost every pakistani). Asim too, like shoaib, is entited to his opinion. But i wonder which reporter actually remembered to ask ASIM KAMAL of a people?? lol :)))
 
Sanjay Manjrekar was the first to call hims Endulkar I think when he was out of form some years ago, and he's somehow still alive I think.
 
I loved that news clip which showed that guy yelling out "SHOAIB AKHTAR HAI HAI" while the police were hauling his ass away!! :))) Comedy circus :D
 
An average of 30 minus something against shoaib also is a good indication that shoaib slighty had the edge over Sachin (30 ave vs 25 for shoaibby, 30 ave vs 55

for tendu). Also as far as match-winning, Sachin is really only the 3rd best or even 4th best ODI matchwinner for India. #1 and #2 are tossup between Kapil Dev & Yuvraj Singh. While #3 and #4 are tossups between Dhoni & Sachin.

" jo banda senseless ho uski kiya baat sunanii, Akhter key banda kiya baat sunein, sari zindagi aisee he woh karta aya hai, hum tu isko suntein bhi nah hein" :malik

hearing this from a fraud like malik is music to my ears and just confirms what a ghattya insaan he really is. I'd be more worried if he agreed with the REAL shoaib

Book is written for all, but Indian audience will definitely play an important role in sponsoring Shoaib Akhtar's holidays in Ibiza, if it can reassure you.

It was fun at first but now this overreaction by our media, insecure Sachinists and worse of all former and current Pakistani cricketers is getting ridiculous. Its his opinion Akhtar has every right to express it. Get over it ALREADY.
 
Shoaib Akhtar's remark was a ploy to sell his book: Shah Rukh Khan

Actor Shah Rukh Khan feels that calling him a ‘cheater’ was a just a ploy devised by Pakistani fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar to sell his autobiography. Shah Rukh, who appeared peeved at the way Shoaib had referred to him and then quickly retracted his statement, also said that he has nothing to do with him personally at any time even when he was a former player in his T20 team.

“I have heard that he has said something about me. I think whatever he has said is a ploy to sell his book. We should not be falling into the trap,” said Shah Rukh during a recent media interaction.

The star said that he doesn’t wish to react to the allegations made towards him. Before taking a sudden u-turn from his earlier statements, Shoaib had said that SRK ‘cheated’ him and he couldn’t play in the T20 tournament partly because of him, former T20 Commissioner Lalit Modi and the Pakistan Cricket Board. He then clarified later that Shah Rukh treated him like a ‘younger brother’.“I don’t have anything tosay to anything he says. If it is a ploy to sell his book then I am not participating. Lets move on to something more fruitful,” Shah Rukh said while fielding questions from the media.

However, the distaste that has grown over in Mumbai over Shoaib’s alleged remarks have now come back to haunt him as the organisers cancelled his book launch in Mumbai without even assigning any reason to it. “The scheduled release of Shoaib Akhtar's book in Mumbai on Sunday has suddenly been cancelled without any reason being given. Former India skipper Dilip Vengsarkar was to release Akhtar's autobiography Controversially Yours at the Cricket Club of India (CCI) premises,” says an official of the club.

Sources said that it was particularly because of the jibe made towards Sachin Tendulkar (Shoaib allegedly said that the master blaster was afraid of facing him) and Rahul Dravid that the event was cancelled. “The jibe towards Shah Rukh rubbed salt to the injury and the book launch was immediately called off. Shoaib Actor is a prime idiot - despised by all who know him, including most of his family. Most people know this. But his views on Sachin are probably right. As for Dravid though.....he must be on drugs.....oh he is actually.....

Apart from that nothing much to add....continue discussing the rantings of an uneducated madman.....but do get a sense of reality.........

Well Shoaib is Shoaib... The whole world was saying that Shoaib Akhtar should play the semi final vs India.. I know Wahab did a brilliant job.. But I really feel that day Pakistan put ekstra pressure on not playing :akhtar fielders and it did disunite the team..

Ajmal and Wahab did perform really well vs India.. Both these bowled welll. But opening the bowling vs India with gul and Razzaq??? What where the thinking?.. Well Gul is up and down bowler when opening the bowling..Pressure got to him.. Razzaq opening the bowling vs Tendulkar and Sehwag???

We lost the Semi final because of Waqar Younis he did disunite the team.. Akhtar should have played.

Waqar and Afridi was not playing Ajmal the whole world knew Ajmal is better spinner and bowler than Rehman.. But these two keep idiots thinker got it right when Imran Khan made a call..
Waqar was more than a decent commentator .. I always thought he had a good cricket brain.. Its really shame being with the cricket team he knew nothing about fixing?? We could have saved Mohammad Aamir .. Shoab Akhtar should never had bowled that bad, which cost him the farewell..
Afridi is a sheep Shoaib is right here......running away playing county cricket because he is not the captain+??? Man playing for your country should be the biggest thing and just because you are not captain you run away.. Afridi performance was disgracefull vs West Indian... Go away you all Afridi fans....Even :ajmal is better batsman when the match is in hand..

First of all SRK need to stfu ....Just coz you would do anything for publicity doesn't mean anyone else would do the same..You are the same SRK who just before the release of every movie, will come up with some new drama to be in the next to generate some more media coverage. I remember him coming up with his drama just be4 his movie My name is Khan where he said he was question at some airport in New Jersey.
