ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday directed for immediate activation of the Corona Tiger Force in order to provide relief to daily wagers amid coronavirus lockdown, ARY News reported.
As per details, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Youth Affairs Usman Dar and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Social Protection and Poverty Alleviation Dr Sania Nishtar has finalized plan on the instructions of PM Imran.
Usman Dar said that Tiger Force will be mobilized with district administration soon and all preparations have been finalized in this regard.
He said that majority of those who have registered for the volunteers’ force are students and social workers.
Special Assistant to PM on Youth Affairs Usman Dar submitted the latest report on registration of the force to the premier on Monday, stating most of the youth signing up to the volunteer force hailed from Punjab with 494,000 people registering for the cause from the province.
Prime Minister Imran Khan was informed that more than 739,000 youth have registered themselves for the Corona Relief Tigers Force thus far.
Whereas, a total of 111,000 people from Sindh registered for the tiger force, 102,000 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and 10,000 from Balochistan, 10,000 from Islamabad, and 8,000 from Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Aren't there local administration who can make lists of people who needs help?
And won't the local health workers have more knowledge of tracking whom from which area?
What i meant to say is, if there's already a system, then why use this force there but engage them specifically for food distribution, other arrangements such as funeral while let the specialists give more authority along with responsibility?

The government will distribute the relief money from tomorrow among lower-income people who have been hit by financial crisis due to the ongoing lockdown, Prime Minister Imran Khan told the media on Wednesday.
The premier said that a sum of Rs12,000 will be distributed among 12 million families from 17,000 different points. He insisted that the programme was free of any political influence as the data was collected digitally.
"There is no question of any political affiliation in this fund," he declared, adding that he wanted everyone to take part in the relief programme initiated by the government and register with the Corona Tigers Relief Force. He said that the government "needed your (public's) money and manpower" as it was low on resources and had to cater to a large population.
Dr Sania Nishtar, the head of the Ehsaas Programme, told the media that the National Identity Card numbers being sent to the government through text messages on 8171, had passed through several stages so that the government can be sure that they qualify for the programme.
She explained that only one member of a family will receive a message even if multiple members of the family had sent their NIC numbers. The data, Nishtar said, was being cross-checked with the information in Nadra's database.
She added that those families, whose heads had passed away but their death had not been registered, could call on the 0800-26477 helpline to get assistance.
Prime Minister Imran informed the media that the volunteers of Corona Tigers Relief Force had been instructed to help people who had not been able to send their NIC numbers to register for the emergency cash fund.
The premier also expressed his sorrow over the doctors' protest in Quetta over the lack of facilities being provided to healthcare professionals.
National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Chairman Lt Gen Muhammad Afzal also briefed the media on the medical equipment being bought from other countries — mostly China — and how the supplies had been distributed among provinces and federal territories. NDMA has started distributing ventilators, personal protective equipment (PPE) and other medical supplies to hospitals in different provinces.
He said that the body had delivered medical supplies for 18,000 medical professionals in Punjab, where the calculated demand was for 6,000 people. Similarly in Sindh, supplies for 15,000 medical professionals had been delivered, where the calculated demand was for 9,000 people.
In Balochistan, the calculated demand was for 2,000 medical professionals but supplies for 8,000 people were delivered.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had demanded 900,000 PPEs in written, Lt Gen Afzal told the premier. NDMA had earlier delivered 10,000 PPEs. Other federal territories were also being provided with PPEs and other supplies.
Up to 100,000 additional testing kits will also be flown in soon, he said, adding that as of now 22 testing labs were operating in Pakistan.
Lt Gen Afzal said that normal masks are recommended for the general public, while surgical masks should be worn by anyone working in a hospital. N-95 masks, he said, were recommended for healthcare staff working in intensive care units.
The NDMA chief said that there was a shortage of technicians, but an advertisement had been given out and applications from all over the country were being received.
Prime Minister Imran once again urged the nation to continue practicing social distancing, warning that failure to do so would lead the infection to spread at a faster rate and burden the healthcare system. He repeated that Pakistan cannot afford a complete lockdown, which was imposed in China or European countries and asked people to take precautionary measures to curb the spread of the virus.
"No government can go in streets to tell people to stay indoors, police cannot beat or imprison people for going out. You have to take care of yourselves for your own sake," he said.

The registration will now continue until April 15. The premier’s recorded message in this regard will be telecast shortly.
Thus far, more than 800,000 persons have signed up to the volunteer force to assist the government in its relief efforts.
Prime Minister Khan expressed gratitude to the youth for becoming part of the Corona Relief Tiger Force in multitudes and once again appealed to the youth who have not yet registered themselves for it to do so before the registration ends.
He said the country needs doctors and paramedics most in this testing time and asked the youth associated with the health sector to sign up to the force.
Earlier, on April 6, Prime Minister Khan had lauded the youth’s zeal saying he knew for sure that the youngsters would exhibit national spirit in hard times such as these. He directed SAPM on youth Usman Dar to mobilise the youth at provincial and district levels at the earliest.
He further instructed Usman Dar to keep him posted on the latest figures about the relief force registration.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday dismissed the petition filed against the formation of the Prime Minister's Corona Relief Tiger Force – which was introduced by PM Imran to mitigate the impact of the coronavirus in the country by engaging the youth in relief work.
IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah took up the petition filed by the chairman of the Union Council of Rawat and other local representatives.
The petitioner’s lawyer advocated that relief operations should be conducted through elected local representatives instead of involving the Corona Relief Tiger Force in the process.

Dismissing the petition, the IHC judge stated that the court should not be dragged into political matters, however, the applicant must refer to the Metropolitan’s Forum in this regard.
Overseas Tigers
Last week, prime minister’s special Assistants on Overseas Pakistanis and Youth Affairs, Zulfi Bukhari and Usman Dar agreed to include the Pakistani diaspora in the relief force.
The 'Overseas Tigers', as they were dubbed, would ensure that rations are distributed properly with the help of generous people, Bukhari said. The 'Overseas Tigers' would also collect funds from well-known individuals and munificent people, he added.
"These funds will be used to provide rations to Pakistanis stranded anywhere in the world," the special assistant added, noting that the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development and the PM's 'Corona Relief Tiger Force' would set up a joint portal for registration.
"Responsibilities will be assigned a few days after registration process," Bukhari explained, adding that a new website was being started from Monday for this purpose.
"The overseas Pakistanis will [also] be able to donate to the PM's Corona Relief Fund through the new website," he explained, noting that fighting the novel coronavirus was a huge task for PM Imran and his government.

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health Dr Zafar Mirza said that 17,000 of the people who had volunteered for the Corona Relief Tiger Force belonged to the medical community.
Speaking alongside Prime Minister Imran Khan during his address to the volunteer force, the PM's aide said: "No one really knows how long this disease will last [...] everyone needs to play their role."
He added that medical professionals will be given specific roles so that they can help the government in implementing standard operating procedures.
"Doctors will also volunteer for telehealth initiatives so that they can give advice to patients over the phone," he said.

Special roles for doctors volunteering in PM's Corona Relief Tiger Force: Dr Mirza

"We sent these medical professionals a special questionnaire and on the basis of their answers and our own thinking, the government will seek their help in effective implementation of SOPs and social distancing measures and specialised monitoring of quarantine and isolation centres," Mirza said.
Mirza also said a majority of the 1,800 doctors will work for the government's digital telehealth initiative so that they can give advice to patients over the phone.
"No one really knows how long this disease will last. Therefore, everyone needs to play their role," Mirza said, as he reminded the nation of the importance of precautionary measures.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan outlined the basic responsibilities of the Corona Relief Tiger Force, saying that the force ought to strike a balance between saving people from the virus and saving them from hunger and unemployment.
"This tiger force, meaning this volunteer force, was formed to meet the challenges presented by this lethal pandemic. The entire world is being forced to take steps that haven't been taken in the past 100 years," Khan said.
The prime minister said volunteers will have to help register all those who had lost their jobs due to the lockdown.
"Not everyone can register themselves online so that is where the force will come in handy," he explained.
He added that the volunteers will also monitor distribution centres of the Ehsaas Emergency Cash Programme and give feedback to the government.
Prime Minister Imran also asked the volunteers to monitor hoarding practices in their designated areas, instructing them to report hoarders to authorities.
"If you see hoarding anywhere, don't take action yourself but tell the respective district administration authorities. They will take strict action as per law," he said.
Prime Minister Imran also said that the lockdown in the country had to be lifted slowly but safely to mitigate the economic fallout from the virus outbreak in Pakistan.

Karachi, Pakistan – Twenty-three-year-old Iqra Nazeer Ahmed discards her gloves and gingerly sprays a diluted solution of disinfectant on her mask, careful to avoid touching anything around her lest she expose her younger siblings and elderly parents to the coronavirus.
She is exhausted after working for nearly 12 hours straight as a volunteer to help provide food and other rations to people suffering under a strict lockdown in the southern Pakistani province of Sindh.
Ahmed, and patriotic young people like her, are the future of Pakistan's "Tiger Force" – an effort by the government to leverage the country's young population for COVID-19 relief efforts.
"I registered for the Tiger Force within the first few days," she says. "I … wanted to serve my country during this crisis."
Registrations opened on March 31 for Prime Minister Imran Khan's Corona Relief Tiger Force. Within 10 days, more than 850,000 individuals had registered.
The force is part of an ambitious multi-pronged strategy by Khan's government to impose movement restrictions and shut down industries while also ensuring that Pakistan's poorest citizens – many of whom rely on daily wages to survive – continue to receive adequate supplies of food and other essentials.
According to a 2016 United Nations Development Programme study, at least 39 percent of Pakistan's 220 million population live in multi-dimensional poverty, and Khan has repeatedly said he has delayed implementing a full economic shutdown to ensure that systems are put into place to feed those people.
Pakistan's government chose a strategy of implementing an incremental lockdown to stave off possible public panic.
In neighbouring India, by contrast, a full nationwide lockdown was announced with four hours' notice by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 24. India, too, has chosen to launch a relief fund targeting low-income families, with at least $850m gathered through donations from the public.
Bangladesh has extended a nationwide lockdown until May 16, with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's government releasing relief packages worth more than $1.7bn aimed at struggling farmers.
The question remains, however: When the country is locked down, how will these governments address the daily needs of their poorest citizens?
Limited capacity, expanded needs
At only 0.6 beds per thousand individuals, compared to Italy's 3.4 beds per thousand, or the UK's 2.8, Pakistan’s already frail medical system, with a paltry 3,844 ventilators for its population of 220 million, is at risk of being overwhelmed.
Potential medical constraints loom large on one end, but the financial devastation of the partial lockdown is already palpable. Pakistan has imposed varying degrees of lockdown in different provinces as the imminent threat of starvation for daily wage earners remains an ever-present threat.
"We are walking a tightrope," said PM Khan, of the elusive balance that the nation is trying to achieve in mitigating the spread of COVID-19 versus managing the potential economic devastation it could wreak on an already sputtering economy.
With the government moving to completely seal off areas with high numbers of reported cases, the delivery of food to quarantined neighbourhoods has already become a formidable challenge.
This is where the Tiger Force of volunteers is meant to step in: providing uninterrupted food supplies to fully quarantined areas, distributing aid to the impoverished and conducting widespread hygiene and health awareness campaigns.
Despite the fact that registrations are still ongoing, some local government bodies have already begun to manage relief efforts.
"We’re generally out from 11am to 8 or 9pm. We observe social distancing protocols, but it gets crowded when it's time for distribution," says Ahmed.
Volunteers inform members of parliament for each district if there is a need for additional food rations in an area, which are then dispatched, according to Ahmed.
As more data is gathered and consolidated, volunteers will monitor which families have received food and which are still in need. The supply chain is managed by members of parliament for the relevant district, she says.
Crucially, with food distribution, families need to receive continuous supplies.
"We're on our second wave [of distribution] now, because a family of eight can't survive for a month on 10kg of flour," she says.
Risks of exclusion
Besides the volunteers, Pakistan has also launched the largest social assistance programme in its history, providing a one-time grant of Rs 12,000 ($70) to 12 million families across the country.
One of Ahmed's responsibilities at this stage is to manage registrations for that programme, which uses the infrastructure from the existing Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) - a welfare programme named after former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto - and automated data analysis to identify needy families.

Those who study the programme, however, say it could leave some of the neediest families behind.
"The concern is that the [existing] poverty database is static, with an update of the registry still under way," says Rehan Jamil, a PhD at Brown University who researches the impact of BISP.
"In the current crisis, there are concerns that immediate relief will not get to many who we know may be outside the database. To address this challenge the government has asked district governments to identify eligible candidates whose eligibility will then be verified."
Wealth profiling criteria used to cull the lists include whether the applicant's identification card is associated with ownership of a car, overseas travel and average monthly utility bills.
For minority groups, the grant could potentially worsen inequalities, according to Dr Moizza B Sarwar, a social policy expert affiliated with the London-based Overseas Development Institute.
"My worry remains that this programme will continue to exclude those who were already excluded from most government programmes because they do not have CNICs [national identity cards]: these would include religious and ethnic minorities as well as recently widowed women whose access to CNICs has been a historical problem," she told Al Jazeera.
'Obsessed with sharing'
The government's Tiger Force has provoked a mixed response from those working in the humanitarian sector.
"The benefits of this initiative are two-fold: the government will have active volunteers for distribution, and a sense of social responsibility will be inculcated in our youth, which is vital if we wish to establish Pakistan as a 'falahi riyasat' [welfare state]," says Shumaila Israr, an assistant professor at Karachi's Bahria University.
Muhammad Ahsan Rizvi, an economist, says the formation of the volunteer force ties into a strong culture of philanthropy and giving alms within Pakistan.
"Pakistanis are obsessed with sharing food. If you're on the streets near iftar [when Muslims break their fast during Ramadan] you see so much distribution going on," he says. "It doesn’t matter whether it's to a person in a swanky BMW or someone walking barefoot on the road. Our nation wants to redistribute wealth, and we're using that sentiment to fight the economic fallout of corona."
Others, however, say the task at hand is too large for a volunteer force to handle and that it will take time for them to get organised – time that the virus's spread may not allow.
"It's pretty late in the day," says Noreen Fatima, a volunteer with the Karachi Bachao Tehreek aid organisation. "The federal government initially vacillated between full or partial lockdown. But either way, people are out of work and have to pay rent and buy their food."
Others echo the sentiment that the economic damage from the lockdown is already being felt.
"I get heartbreaking phone calls from families surviving on boiled rice water – and now they're running out of that, too," says Sabiha Akhlaq, the founder of the SSARA Foundation aid group.
Political opponents, too, have hit out at the government, accusing it of "sleepwalking" into a potential disaster.
Criticisms of the establishment of the new force have centred on the time it will take the organisation to compile data, screen volunteers and train them, bypassing existing local governance structures and leading to a possible duplication of effort.
"It's an unusual measure for a sitting PM to mandate a completely separate and voluntary entity to conduct the work that government organisations such as BISP are already doing," says Sarwar, the London-based researcher. "As an analyst it's hard not to see this as a duplication of effort, particularly since it is unclear how these youth will be trained."
Supporters of the Tiger Force, however, say that the new organisation is needed because of a lack of confidence in those existing structures. Pakistan has faced a history of systemic corruption.
Although the Ehsaas programme is tightening its surveillance against embezzlement, even amid the pandemic, there have been reports of government officers demanding bribes before disbursing cash grants to low-income families.
Nevertheless, the initiative remains Pakistan's main government tool to take on a crisis that countries around the world are facing: how to tackle the economic fallout of lockdowns that are necessary to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

Lahore: Pakistan men’s team opening batsman Ahmed Shehzad has joined Prime Minister Imran Khan’s “Tiger Force” to combat coronavirus pandemic in Pakistan, ARY Sports reported today.
The 28-year-old Ahmed Shehzad met Usman Dar in Sialkot who is the current special adviser to PM Khan.
Ahmed congratulated Usman on the tremendous reception of the Tiger Force and termed this step as the move of the hour to fight against the virus.

KARACHI: Governor Sindh Imran Ismail on Thursday expressed his disappointment at the provincial government for not availing the services of the Tiger Force, saying that other stakeholders will be taken on board in the matter.
“Prime Minister Imran Khan has assigned the responsibility of the force to me for its voluntary work in the province to be launched immediately after Eidul Fitr,” Ismail said, addressing a press conference at the Governor House.
Ismail said that after the refusal of the Sindh government, other political parties would be taken along to avail the services of the nascent Tiger Force for bringing relief to the people during the coronavirus emergency.
He said people who had enlisted their services for the Tiger Force didn’t belong to any political party as they had come forward just to do voluntary social work and nothing else without any monetary benefit.
He said it was unfortunate that the Sindh government had decided not to avail the services of the Tiger Force.
The governor said that so far 1,57,000 people had enrolled for the Tiger Force in Sindh and “it will come into action immediately after Eidul Fitr” under his leadership.
In the first phase, the volunteers of the Tiger Force would be deputed at the Ehsaas emergency cash dispensation centres and utility stores in the province, the governor said.
He said the volunteers of the Tiger Force would ensure that customers were not being overcharged at any utility store in the province. “Whereas the same volunteers will render assistance to the needy people coming to the Ehsaas centres for getting the emergency cash assistance being provided by the federal government during the lockdown measures.”
To a question regarding the proposal of Sindh Assembly opposition leader Firdous Shamim Naqvi that governor’s rule should be imposed in the province “owing to the inefficiency of the Sindh government”, the governor said that no such proposal was under consideration at the moment as he came to know about such an issue only through the television.
To a question regarding the differences between the Sindh and the federal governments, he said they were required to work together with the federation for the betterment of the province.
“If in case I have any issue, I am in the habit of directly talking to the chief minister. Likewise, the provincial government should bring to the knowledge of the prime minister if it has any problem,” he said.
He recalled that from day one it was the viewpoint of the prime minister that the country could not afford a complete lockdown against the spread of the coronavirus. He said the economic situation of the country didn’t allow a complete lockdown.
“With the grace of God, our situation has been a lot better than other countries but we should continue to observe the precautions. People should follow the SOPs announced by the federal and provincial governments,” he said.
He said there was a possibility of a complete shutdown once more in the country if the people didn’t follow the SOPs.
To a question, he said tenders would be issued immediately after Eidul Fitr to make operational the Green Line section of the Bus Rapid Transit Service in Karachi being constructed by the federal government “as a facilitation agreement has been signed in this regard in the previous day”.
The governor said his services were fully available if in case the doctors and paramedics in the province required personal protective equipment as being the frontline staff against the coronavirus epidemic.
Meanwhile, it was informed on the occasion that those who volunteered for the Tiger Force in Sindh included 48,416 students, 2,275 medical workers, 9,251 engineers, 5,931 teachers, 10,293 civil servants, 1,877 armed forces personnel, 3,959 NGO workers, 591 journalists, 15,822 businessmen, 1,099 lawyers, 21,124 social workers, and 3,788 are from the corporate sector.
While by qualification, 31,751 of them have done matriculation / O Levels, 34,207 FA / FSc / A Levels, 22,558 bachelor’s degrees, 11,671 master’s degrees, 533 MBBS, 943 MPhil / MS, 264 doctorates, 98 post-doctorates, and 16,928 have passed middle school.

Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Friday that he wanted the Corona Relief Tiger Force volunteers to assist the government in its mission to tackle climate change and battle the locust invasion, in addition to aiding its response to the Covid-19 outbreak.
In a televised address to the volunteers, the premier said that the government required the volunteer's help on two more fronts apart from the virus; climate change and locusts.
"Locusts have attacked the nation after some 30 years. Not just us, but India, Africa and Somalia have also been badly affected by the invasion.
"They primarily target crops which can lead to famine. So for this we will ask you to collaborate with the administration on how to help those areas that have been affected."
The second thing, Imran said, was climate change. "Pakistan faces a huge threat from climate change. Eighty per cent of the water in our rivers come from glaciers.
"Our coming generations will face difficulties as the water level in rivers will recede."
He said that in an effort to combat this, he wanted the volunteers to participate in the government's Clean and Green Pakistan Campaign under which 10 billion trees will be planted.
"We will tell you how to clean areas. But the plantation that needs to be carried out during the rainy months, I want that you participate in that. We are currently developing a programme for that. I will require your assistance in that."
The premier also urged volunteers to keep an eye on utility stores.
"Transport services were shut down due to the lockdown and food prices skyrocketed as a result. However, we kept up supply to utility stores and got some very good feedback from the volunteers about what was needed at the stores."
He urged the volunteers to identify hoarders and inform the district administration. "You have to protect our people and help the vulnerable [...] we will keep making you aware of what your duties are."
'We can't afford to go back to another lockdown'
The premier said that the country cannot afford to go back to a lockdown, urging the public to follow the government's standard operating procedures (SOPs) for curbing the spread of the virus.
"It is important for you [Tiger Force] to ensure that people follow SOPs because we can't go back to another lockdown, this country can't afford it," he said.
"If we can slow down the [infection] curve because of SOPs, it will reduce pressure on hospitals."
He added that the country was already emerging from a difficult situation before the pandemic hit. "The purpose of reopening industries was to help the vulnerable. A lockdown for [the privileged] is not a problem, but it is a problem for the working class.
"How much more money can be distributed under the Ehsaas programme? That is why it is important for you to ensure the implementation of SOPs," he said.
'Covid-19 cases were not traced back to mosques'
Prime Minister Imran also said that none of the country's coronavirus cases were traced back to mosques, despite the government's critics stating otherwise.
"We were the only country in the Muslim world that said we would not bar Taraweeh prayers and would keep mosques open. We decided that whoever goes to the mosques, will have to follow SOPs."
Quoting the example of Sialkot, he said: "There weren't enough police officials in Sialkot to stop the public from going to mosques, so our Tiger Force went and raised awareness.
"Our critics said that the virus will spread from mosques [but] we did not see any cases emerge from there and today the world is opening mosques with standard operating procedures in place. This was an achievement for the force," he said.

So worried are the crooks that they won't let them operate in their areas. Why do you think the Sindh was scared off them, if they are such a joke. You may or may not know this but voluntary work is seen as a big part of civil society and over 1/2m people volunteered for the NHS.

Does this “force” include any healthcare professionals or is it entirely made up of a bunch of jobless and aimless people who were bored at home during the lockdown?
It is quite amazing that even during these times, Imran Khan has not missed an opportunity for self-promotion.
He is still stuck in the 92 World Cup mode, and the only thing missing is a picture of him lifting the World Cup on these white shirts that have been handed over to these tigers.

ISLAMABAD: At least 16,000 tonnes of sugar and wheat were recovered from hoarders during a crackdown Monday based on a tip-off from Prime Minister Imran Khan's Corona Relief Tiger Force.
According to a report, the raid was carried out by the government of Punjab on PM Imran's orders against the hoarders.
The Tiger Force had reportedly provided special information about the hoarders, following which Rs1.1 billion worth of stocked-up sugar and wheat were seized.
In addition, almost 716 tonnes of wheat, 2,000 tonnes of rice, 10,000 kilogrammes of unhealthy meat and 800,000 litres of milk were also been recovered and subsequently destroyed.
In this regard, PM Imran has directed that the recovered sugar, wheat, and rice be sold in the market at the rates set by the government.
Advising the Punjab government to stabilise wheat prices, the premier directed for the price of a 20kg bag of flour to be reduced by Rs150 and emergency measures be taken to control the prices of flour.
Meanwhile, PM Imran Monday directed all the provincial chief secretaries for the formulation of a well-coordinated strategy under the Minister for National Food Security for equal pricing of wheat and flour in all the provinces, besides ensuring sufficient stock of these commodities with regard to the requirement of any province.
He directed this while chairing a meeting to review measures for bringing down prices of essential commodities, PM Office media wing in a press release said.
The prime minister observed that strategy should focus on farmers and common man as in the past, the elements involved in hoarding and undue profits had not only deprived the farmers of their just profits but also forced the ordinary people to purchase flour at exorbitant prices.
The meeting was attended by Minister for National Food Security Syed Fakhar Imam, Adviser on Finance Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, Adviser on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Dr Shahbaz Gill and senior officials.
Chief secretaries of Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, and additional secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa attended the meeting through video link.

Meanwhile, PM Imran Monday directed all the provincial chief secretaries for the formulation of a well-coordinated strategy under the Minister for National Food Security for equal pricing of wheat and flour in all the provinces, besides ensuring sufficient stock of these commodities with regard to the requirement of any province.
He directed this while chairing a meeting to review measures for bringing down prices of essential commodities, PM Office media wing in a press release said.
The prime minister observed that strategy should focus on farmers and common man as in the past, the elements involved in hoarding and undue profits had not only deprived the farmers of their just profits but also forced the ordinary people to purchase flour at exorbitant prices.
The meeting was attended by Minister for National Food Security Syed Fakhar Imam, Adviser on Finance Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, Adviser on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Dr Shahbaz Gill and senior officials.
Chief secretaries of Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, and additional secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa attended the meeting through video link.
The prime minister directed that there should be no impediments in the inter-provincial transportation of wheat as the provision and availability of regular and low-price wheat was his government’s priority.

It is at times hard to believe that all of this is real and is actually happening.

I dont get the hate for the "Tiger Force". These people are volunteering, as in working for free, and are providing benefits to poor and elderly of Pakistan. They are the best of Pakistan, yet they get criticized by people who would not give one minute of time volunteering. Some people really have no shame.

There are two types of Imran/PTI supporters.
Type 1: the sensible supporters who got fooled by his rhetoric and tall claims but have now realized that he is nothing but a deceiver who is proving to be the worst PM in Pakistan history. These people have pretty much given up on him and are simply waiting for this nightmare to be over.
Type 2: the brainwashed supporters who view him as some divine figure. They will defend him at all costs. They are basically his sheep and they have given up their abilities to think and see.
If Imran tells them that the earth is flat, they will still defend or justify him, or they will deflect it back to other parties.
As far as the Tiger Force is concerned, Imran is still stuck in the 92 World Cup. The name Tiger is a homage to how Pakistan played like cornered tigers to win the World Cup after they found themselves on the brink of elimination, and today, Pakistan finds itself in a crisis so these tigers will fight back and bring glory to the country.
This is the mentality and thought-process of our PM who was supposed to bring tabdeeli. He is like an excited child and all of this is a game for him.
This is all about himself and his question for personal glory, and hence the name Tigers.
He could have named it Corona Pakistan force or Corona fighters or whatever, but he had to give it the name tigers because how else would people be reminded of how Pakistan won the World Cup under his leadership by playing like cornered tigers?
These tigers have also been given white t-shirts as a homage to the one Imran wore at the toss of the World Cup final. It was a white t-shirt with a tiger on it.
These tigers are in it just for fun and excitement. I have not seen a single tiger in action and no one knows what impact they have had.
However, the propaganda of the government is so strong that once Pakistan is through with the pandemic, they will say that it was due to the efforts of the tiger force. Just wait and watch and you can tag me when it happens.
Furthermore, these versatile tigers are not only fighting COVID but they have also been tasked with battling locusts, fighting climate change and exposing mafias.
I am amazed at the skills and capabilities of these white knights. I didn’t know Pakistan had a plethora of Bruce Waynes who were waiting to be given a chance to showcase their talents.
You have to question how useless the government is if they have to rely on volunteers to fight a pandemic, a swarm of flying insects, climate change and also have deductive skills to expose mafias.
If our people are so capable and willing to do all of this for free, why have a government?
Why waste money on all these ministers, bureaucrats and government officials, when we have superheroes among our public who will do all the tasks for free?
As I said, this government has become a parody. It is a joke but not a funny one. This is all a game for them.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lashed out at the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government on Sunday for celebrating 'Tiger Force Day', alleging that members of the volunteer force have been taking bribes in Punjab.
“Government should be ashamed of celebrating the Tiger Force day,” said PML-N Punjab spokesperson Azma Bokhari said in a statement. She alleged that three volunteers of the force were found taking bribes in Lahore only.
Bukhari also told Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar that the billion-tree campaign of the PTI has failed “miserably”. She added that local and foreign media both had revealed the “massive corruption” of the Pervez Khattak-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government in the billion-tree project.
Bukhari claimed that the trees planted by the provincial government last year under the Sar Sabz Punjab programme have gone to waste. She alleged that the the Punjab chief minister was "making money" out of the Sar Sabz Punjab programme.
In July, PM Imran Khan had announced that August 9 will be celebrated as Tiger Force Day and a massive plantation drive would be launched across the country to combat the adverse effects of climate change.
In a message, the prime minister said that he would participate in the plantation drive.
“We have to plant 10 billion trees until 2023,” said the premier.
Calling pollution and global warming the impetus behind the plantation drive, the premier said that the volunteer force will set a record by planting the maximum number of trees.
PM Imran said that due to pollution, the health of the general public is deteriorating and it was high time to initiate a response to the problem.

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Youth Affairs Usman Dar on Tuesday defended the premier's move to use the Corona Relief Tiger Force (CRTF) to check rising prices of essential commodities, calling the volunteers "national heroes".
Speaking to the media in Islamabad, the PM's aide said that the opposition was criticising the country's youth and using words that had never even been used for the Indian intelligence agency RAW.
"Some are saying that the Tiger Force has usurped the country's wheat and sugar while some are calling it a 'Hitler force'," Dar said.
Dar's comments come two days after Prime Minister Imran Khan tasked the one-million strong volunteer force with checking the prices of food items and posting them on their portal. PM Imran will also be meeting the volunteers on Saturday in Islamabad.

Dar said since taking charge as the chief executive, PM Imran had initiated multiple programmes for the youth. He added that by forming the volunteer force, the premier had given the youth an opportunity to help the government in fixing Pakistan's governance.

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Sunday alleged that Prime Minister Imran Khan was trying to turn all institutions of the country into the PTI’s Tiger Force.
“It [PTI government] has not brought a change, but destruction," he said while addressing a PPP rally at Karachi's Bagh-e-Jinnah organised to commemorate those who lost their lives in the 2007 Karsaz bombing on Benazir Bhutto’s homecoming convoy.

The PPP chairman, flanked by his sister Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, said he was warning Prime Minister Imran Khan that his reverse counting [for his government] had begun.
He added that the premier was trying to turn all institutions of the country into his Tiger Force, claiming that he had attacked the parliament, Senate, judiciary, Election Commission of Pakistan as well as Punjab police and the province’s bureaucracy.
“No institution is left as he is even trying to turn the media into his Tiger Force," Bilawal claimed.
He promised the participants that his party would form the next government "very soon". "Our protest will continue until [PM] Imran's rule is over," he added.
“The PTI’s politics is not of change, but of destruction, he said.
"Look what they did to the curriculum... this is not change but destruction... look what they did to HEC [Higher Education Commission] by reducing its budget... this is not change but destruction," he told the charged crowd.
The PPP chairman recalled that Imran Khan used to say that “when inflation rises, it means the prime minister is corrupt”.
“Today the country is at a historic high of inflation which means that we have the most corrupt prime minister in the history of Pakistan.”
He noted that everything, from wheat to sugar, was being sold at record high prices now.
“Imran Khan has destroyed the economy of this country.”
The PPP chairman said his party was protesting against the "PTIMF" economic policy from day one in a bid to stop the government from taking anti-people steps.
"We will not allow anyone from outside to make decisions for this country... only the people of the country are allowed to make them.”
Bilawal said he could not promise to make everything right from day one but “we do promise to bring people-friendly policies immediately”.
“We will construct houses, not demolish them... we will eliminate poverty, not the poor. We will raise people's salaries from day one... we will increase pensions from day one... we will give people jobs, we will continue our legacy, we will finish what [Bilawal’s mother] Benazir Bhutto and [grandfather] Zulfikar Ali Bhutto started.”
The PPP chairman said that when Benazir returned to Pakistan, there was a wheat, oil and gas crisis and the country was ruled by a dictator.
“We have a similar situation today with the country being ruled by dictatorship in the guise of democracy.”
He said the PPP was the only party that believed in people-friendly economic policies.
“Imran Khan promised 10 million jobs and five million houses... he promised so much but all he has done is deceiving the people of the country.”
Terming his mother the bravest woman in the world, Bilawal said she had come to the country to liberate her people from dictatorship.
"She was told that a dictator wants to kill you, terrorists want to kill you but still she returned for her people, to give them freedom from dictatorship, to free them from poverty, to put the country's economy on right track.”
He said that his mother could have ruled the country from abroad as well but she decided to return to the country only for the people.

SC asked to probe salaries of PTI's Tiger Force
ISLAMABAD: A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking the formation of a joint investigation team (JIT) to probe the “illegal acts”, particularly the payment of salaries to the Tiger Force members, by former prime minister Imran Khan, ex-interior minister Sheikh Rashid, and other PTI leaders.
The petitioner, who hails from Dadu, Sindh, said he was worried about the “current situation of the country” amid “threats” hurled at national institutions by the PTI leaders.
According to the petitioner, Imran recruited “1 million” workers in his Tiger Force which was being used against the incumbent government during protests.
The PTI chairman had “recruited such force for the purpose to use the same against the political rivals and he tried his best to do the same by way of announcing the so-called long march”.
The petitioner alleged that Sheikh Rashid, who has been made respondent no.3 in the petition, used to pay salaries of Tiger Force members “from accounts of different departments” and termed this act against the Constitution.

The petitioner further prayed that the court constitute a JIT to probe the alleged illegal acts and also requested the court to issue directions to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to conduct an inquiry into the issuance of salaries to the Tiger Force by Imran Khan.
The petition also urged that PTI leaders be restrained from making threatening remarks, such as ‘bloody march’ among other threats to spread anarchy in the country.
Along with the federal government, PTI Chairman Imran Khan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Fawad Chaudhry, Haleem Adil Sheikh, Ali Zaidi, and Sheikh Rashid have been made respondents.

ISLAMABAD: A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking the formation of a joint investigation team (JIT) to probe the “illegal acts”, particularly the payment of salaries to the Tiger Force members, by former prime minister Imran Khan, ex-interior minister Sheikh Rashid, and other PTI leaders.
The petitioner, who hails from Dadu, Sindh, said he was worried about the “current situation of the country” amid “threats” hurled at national institutions by the PTI leaders.
According to the petitioner, Imran recruited “1 million” workers in his Tiger Force which was being used against the incumbent government during protests.
The PTI chairman had “recruited such force for the purpose to use the same against the political rivals and he tried his best to do the same by way of announcing the so-called long march”.
The petitioner alleged that Sheikh Rashid, who has been made respondent no.3 in the petition, used to pay salaries of Tiger Force members “from accounts of different departments” and termed this act against the Constitution.
