[VIDEO]"India behaves arrogantly as if they are a superpower in world cricket": Former PM Imran Khan

India has done a good job in last 10-15 years in investing in their own people and creating jobs and opportunities for them. That has resulted in their people having a better standard of life and disposable income that they spend on entertainment. That is the reason why IPL and BCCI is able to make billions of $$.

Throughout history, the one in power makes the rules and rest of the world HAS to follow. It is India's turn to dictate their terms and we have to accept them. If we want to change that, we have to help our own people and improving their lives and the rest will follow. Just being jealous and envious of them makes us look weak and delusional. We have a long history of being unfair to our very own people (East Pakistan) so it would be naïve of us to act all pious now when we are not in a position to dictate terms and expecting others to treat us fairly when they have the power.

Being a super power is nothing to be proud of.
We should be proud of being generous, fair and connected. I wish the dynamic changed throughout the world and we moved away from things like super power, dominance, and greed.

That i agree with 100 pc. What use is power if not used to positively impact and help weaker sections? But my point remains that a lot of times on this forum the narrative that BCCI is responsible for all thats wrong with cricket is wrong. No one self intro spects or is honest enough to see ones shortcomings. For all those commenting about BCCI and big money, yes India does have big money. It got there with sheer hard work, spirit of entrpreunership, innovation based on sound education. a few other nations surely can use this template instead of just commenting on 'you have the money because you have the population' , some self introspection would go a long way....

100% agreed. There is no evidence needed for this. India’s always had a large population. But the improvements in BCCI’s financial situation and stature of team India coincide with the development of the sport in the country’s through sounds business decisions and strategic investments.
Pakistan too has a significant fan base and potential, which it is beginning to tap, but it hasn’t fully maximized it yet.

Poor from BCCI

The dates for the 2023 Asian Games have been known for ages. So why has the BCCI said sorry, our schedule is fixed, we don't have room to send cricket teams?

The men’s and women’s Indian cricket teams will not be part of the upcoming Asian Games 2023, Bhupender Bajwa, India’s chef de mission for the continental meet, has confirmed.

The Asian Games are scheduled in Hangzhou, China from September 23 to October 8 this year.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said that the schedule for the men’s and women’s teams was already fixed and hence, there will be no participation at the continental event.

“We have entries in all sports except one – cricket (team) isn’t going,” Bhupender Bajwa told Indian Express. “They said they are preoccupied. We sent three-four emails to them (BCCI) but when we had to send entries to the organisers, they said they won’t go.”

As per the Future Tours Programme (FTP), the Indian women’s cricket team is scheduled to play South Africa and New Zealand in limited overs series during the period. The men’s team will be competing in the ODI World Cup at home from October 5 to November 19.

Cricket made its Asian Games debut in 2010 and was included in the 2014 edition. India, however, skipped both the editions. The sport was left out of the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and has made a return at the Hangzhou Games.

The India cricket teams, however, have been part of the Commonwealth Games. The BCCI fielded a side in the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. More recently, the Indian women’s cricket team won the silver medal at the Commonwealth Games 2022 held in Birmingham, England.

Yeah I don’t agree with the folks who say the latter part about population etc. BCCI is where it is through hard work. Ofc, having a cricket crazed nation helps, and why shouldn’t it? Simple supply and demand

But yeah the first part of your post is what most of us are saying.

BCCI is pretty much ICC itself at this point, and yet, instead of help the game grow further, they are involved in petty political games. Unnecessary games.

PCB did not start this musical chairs. They would’ve travelled to India if India visits during Asia Cup. Neutral venue? Cool, it’s fair for PCB to demand one in return too.

Instead, they are strong arming them and flexing muscles that the accommodation only works one way…

Actually good decision by BCCI to skip Asian Games

Events like Asian Games & Commonwealth Games are actually good opportunity for non cricket athletes to shine and be in the spotlight. This is the only time these athletes like Neeraj Chopra, PV Sindhu & Bajrang Punia get media attention and limelight and in the process get some sponsors and monetary support.

Sending cricket team will divert all attention to the cricket stars like Kohli & Rohit. Other sports players will get ignored. So its good for overall sports development in India that cricket team stays away from these events
