Could KL Rahul end up being India's version of Fawad Alam?

We all know Fawad Alam has been ignored by selectors for far too long. He deserves a spot in the Test team but has been sidelined for unknown reasons. KL Rahul seems to be in a similar situation at this stage of his career. Kohli and co. seem to believe that he shouldn't be a permanent part of the team across all formats, hence the constant chopping and changing of his spot and role in the team. India's middle order hasn't looked this weak in a long time, so surely he should be a permanent member in all 3 formats?

He is good talent but overrated for his tullabazi .if kohli do captain india for long donot see him to have very bright future

KL has shown much more ability and talent that Fawad has ever shown. Eventually he will be a regular in the Indian team.

I mean one of them has ten times the ability of the other and the known respect of captain and coach.

Rahul will have a very good career across formats. Shown enough in the opportunities he's got that he belongs, needs 10-15 matches at a stretch.

One thing he should guard against is injuries. In 2016, just when he looked like owning a place in the side, got sidelined due to injury.

Odi career start is mirroring rohit sharma's career odi start so far.

He Must need to score runs preferably at no.4 position that is the only way he will stay in the playing11 otherwise there is a risk of losing his spot to young player like pant, samson, gill, kishan etc.

so far His good performance in t20is keeping him relevant in odi team but if some other batsman grab the opportunity with both hands then it will be hard for even selectors to keep him in the team.

Rahul is a super talent all he needs to is get score consistently with whatever chances he gets. Hes a true all format player its just india has too many quality bats watining in the wings that its hard to get in. But still If he were to get reuglar chances I see him establishing himself as a elite bat.

IMO His best chance is at the asia cup if he does get some time on the crease and score then hes certain a place at WC where I see it as his coming out party demolishing atttacks at will and being the much needed stablizer after kohli in chasing and finishing.

That's a wrong comparison. There's nothing good about Fawad Alam's batting and he gives you the feeling he will not be missed much if he is not selected but that is not the case with Rahul. Rahul is arguably the best talent India has produced after Sachin and Kohli and you cannot afford to keep him away from the team for a long time.

You are wrong.

Something about KL Rahul's approach has always irked me. It seems like he doesn't play a high IQ game. If you watch his technique it's exceptional (no doubt about it) but it's often reactionary and this is how he'll get found out.

I understand the appeal but this is not the next Kohli.

From all of the younger batting prospects, Shubman Gill seems legit and will be the one to develop.

More like an Umar Akmal right now. Haven't seen the Indians this crazy about potential ever. Even Kohli, the genius that he is, had way less hype when he made his debut

KL Rahul will disappoint due to the sheer weight of expectations. The guy is lauded as better than Kohli without having done much :))

Rahul is a quality player and will have a great career as long as the management back him. He needs to be given a run of games to showcase his talent. He can't just be brought in one game and make a hundred, he needs a constant run.
