We all get that it’s a huge moment for India to have finally won a series in Australia however this win will always be tainted with the fact that on top this being one of the worst Australian side ever to play test cricket the two main players were banned.

This Australian side would have been beaten by many current teams let alone the great teams of the past of other countries.

So the question is felllas could this Indian team have beaten any Australian team of the past in Australia?

P.s. we can’t forget the hammering the same team received in England recently.

No.But give this team tendulkar and sehwag and it will.
This team has not reached its peak.Once gill and shaw are settled in and pant is well blooded this will be a fearsome batting line up.

Please don't get carried away. This team will have problems against the Aussie side of 1999-2007 assuming they play in Australia

What kind of asinine thread is this?

Half the team has debuted in 2018. You don't have to be a genius to figure out what will happen when this team full of noobs will encounter a well settled side.

Either this a troll thread (a sad one though) or OP needs to watch some cricket before opening more threads.

Should we open threads for all test series...?

Would NZ have beaten Pakistan if Imran Khan's team were playing..
Would Saffers beat Pakistan if Misbah, Younis, Yousuf were playing..

Give this bowling attack to the 2007-2008 Fab 4 batters and add Kohli. Then its possible

Tbh even then it’s not possible. Maybe 2008-2011. Just maybe

Would pakistan have drawn a series in WI in 1987 if malcomm marshall and viv richards were playing in the first test.?

Would England have won the 2005 ashes if mc grath was fit.?

Would Australia have won the 2004 series in india if sachin, bhajji weren't injured?

Did you watch cricket in the 2000s? India came very close to winning a series. With that batting line up, and Bumrah, it is very likely that India can win.

Yes I did

The 2003 draw series was due to McGrath and warne missing

Just McGrath. Warne was utterly useless against India throughout his career and i doubt he would have done anything in that series.

prolly would have outperformed Macgill who averaged 50+ that series

Warne averages 62 against India IN Australia so if my math is correct, MacGill actually bowled better than Warne.

Oh and Warne averages 47 against India overall so i don't think MacGill replacing Warne made any difference.

Pretty much this.

I do think that this team would have beaten Aus team where Indians lost 2-3 to Aus in Aus.

It is very idiotic to equate players missing in one match to players missing the entire year where the teams confidence gets shattered as well as performance goes down after repeatedly losing.

Probably not but who cares? Our fans need to stop being so bitter. This Australian team India played would still beat us black and blue in Australia.

Second test. Border/Gilbert partnership screwed us along with Rain. Last wicket partnership of 77 runs. India was certain to win when the 9th wicket fell.
