I watched a portion of the Raazi movie recently where a Kashmiri girl married a Pakistan person but she was an Indian spy. She is putting her country over her family in that movie. Similarly, I also see people in many countries sending there sons to join army and put nation over family. Is there is something like a country over family or is it that the big, larger purpose gives people more fulfillment? I am grappling with this - is it that the country is big purpose and family is small purpose? If a person dies serving the country, the country loses one person but their families maybe devastated.

The plot of Raazi that you decribed should tell you how stupid bollywood is and how it should be seen as a joke and a propaganda tool.

What are you talking about. In Raazi, it was the Pakistani generails family that were shown like a victim. The timeline for this movie story was 1971 Bangladesh conflict. Has even Pakistan media shown these generails of that time who massacred all those innocent Bangladeshis as nice and regular people?

If anything I would argue the opposite.Bollywood has humanized these folk. Will we ever see the human side of any Nazis in Hollywood films?

Raazi is based on a true story. The true story was published in a novel calling sehmat.

The lady in question, her son also served in the Indian Army.

propaganda is needed to have a steady supply of people willing to die for some cause.

Never heard of the film but good to see PP Indian patriots are here to fill in the gaps.

Not talking about the original lady. True patriot. I am talking about Bollywood’s retelling of events.

The film is based on a true story and several muslims continue to serve the Indian state and the armed forces with distinction even today.
