Radical idea but he should convince his friends in India about DRS etc - dont think anyone in the world will mind such changes.

Technology will always be more reliable thank tired umpires who can barely focus after standing on the same spot for 7 hours a day and expected to perform like a hawk.

If you're going to have someone out there who will control the game and keep the speed of play up, why not just keep the umpire?

Umpires keep the speed of the game up by ensuring that not every decision has to be referred upstairs.

So KP's suggestion is, keep a guy out there who has some but not all of the responsibilities of an umpire, thereby slowing the game down. Doesn't make sense.

You can technically. All cricketers will wear headphones and request their appeals to third umpires directly. All decisions can be given out by electronic scoreboards.

Not saying I am a fan of it, but it's possible.

This will only be a practical idea if technological advancement allow automatic detection of front foot no-balls.

Not the best idea tbh. Like others have said if you need someone to control the game then why get rid of Umpires?

Perhaps ICC should try out robots instead of umpires, so we can take human error out of the equation :foreveralone

We might be there already though. The role of an umpire today is really reduced to what it was 30-40 years ago. The controller KP is talking about is pretty much modern day umpires are doing.

Having said from players point of view it’s some what if a psychological relief to have a go at the umpire on wrong decisions rather than looking at the cameras and doing it.

Bowlers feeling let down by on field umpires, having their constant chats with them etc is one of the joys of cricket as well.

A genius with the bat but he doesn't seem an intelligent pundit. His obsession with T20 leagues solving a nation's problems is absolutely cringeworthy. Also I find it amusing how he bigs up any current player he has played with.

A very egotistical person, I respect him as a batter and enjoyed watching him bat. But I don't like him as a person to be honest. Hive me Michael Clarke punditry anyday!!!!
