What do you guys think? I was literlly LOL-ing by the end!

This is a quote from an Australian batsman back when they occasionaly played baseball "baseball is easy- every ball is a waist high full toss"

Baseball is boring. It has got nothing against cricket. Cricket will kill the baseball if they collide.

I saw that video long time ago, i wonder what else they do to make any sports look bad. I stopped watching sports science after that day

Put a Kiwi or an Aussie in there and the result would have been a lot different.

American v an Indian... What a mismatch

Total mismatch. If you put a top-class T20 all-rounder then you might have a valid comparison.

For those saying baseball is boring, you don't know baseball, and I'd argue you don't really know cricket either.

Kiwi's and Aussies are generally more well built (timing it won't work, you need power) and the odds are they've played baseball in the past. I doubt that guy in the video had ever picked up a baseball bat in his life before.

The issue I see here is that this guy was not facing a quick bowler. Who would target his limbs. This test really has a lot of flaws in it. Its not even funny. Nearly all of his hits would be caught.

I think cricket is more popular than Baseball. It's only relevant in the US and UK. Sub-continent countries have more people that enjoy cricket.

tbh baseball extends to Cuba, Philippines , Japan and Taiwan

any country with American influence , much in the same way cricket is a Commonwealth sport

Should've brought in a recognised international cricketer, just as they brought in a recognised major league baseball player. I bet Gayle, Pollard, Afridi or even Faulkner would've given the guy a decent delivery to try and hit, and any of the four would've clubbed the nice n juicy baseball full toss through the roof. Heck, after yesterday's theatrics, Anderson, Shami or Bhuvi could've given that baseball a nice thwack as well!

Picking a random hack to represent cricket clearly shows the experiment was conducted with the bias baseball > cricket.

I don't think baseball is popular in the UK at all.

I very much enjoy watching Major League Baseball; the more so this century as Boston have started winning the World Series again. There is a wonderful symmetry to it - three bases, three strikes, three outs per innings. The odds shift perceptibly with every pitch.

Baseball is redolent with history, as is cricket.

I still prefer test cricket, but find baseball richer and more memorable that
ODI or T20.

John Etheridge of The Sun tweeted
"Surprising - but, apparently, cricket's 2013 Champions Trophy Final had a bigger global TV audience than football's 2014 World Cup Final"

Tells you something about cricket viewership

Stan McCabe, I think.

With respect to that great man, I think he would find a modern MLB pitcher harder to hit. They can only pitch one day in five on average, because they hyperextend their shoulders. The movement is lavish and late. Imagine facing that full toss from MJ, except in the last eight yards it suddenly breaks sideways, or down, or even up. If you can get a hit (that is not caught, or you are not run out off, with eight men in front of the bat) in fair territory one at-bat in every three, you are considered very, very good.

Kind of makes me laugh when they call it the world series.........:)
If people enjoy baseball that's good but for me its cricket and football not soccer.
I always wondered why American football is played with the hands?

The different football codes are called football to differentiate them from polo (which is played on horseback and not on foot)

LoL at the video ... typical Amreeki bs ... this Indian dude wont even qualify to play for some good clubs in Mumbai.

T20 cricket > Baseball, I recently watched a game in the US and it was boring we could not sit past the 5th innings.

this video is quite old, saw it a while back

it's such a misrepresentation.... they get a guy from the big leagues and a no body to represent cricket... how is that fair?

the indian guy is a hack.

i doubt whether he would make some of the league teams in the US even

Convict, It just surprises me that games such as Aussie Rules FOOTBALL and American FOOTBALL are known as football.
Mostly the ball is carried along in the hands, but the only game played with mostly the feet is called Soccer!

That's because The World newspaper put the prize money up originally. It might as well be the Baltimore Sun Series.

You learn something new everyday....thanks Robert.

For years I thought, they thought it was a world event

Because the various different sports originated from a common point- which was British schoolboy sports that were called football because they were played on foot.
Each school/region would have their own rules.

Eventually clubs starting codifying officials rules and forming leagues and associations.

The only confusion you are having is because of a (common) misunderstanding of the origins of the word football.

Can't compare the two. I laugh at the people who say they are similar. Batting in cricket is more difficult than baseball.

I don't think many people here have played baseball. To think that hitting a baseball is similar to hitting a full toss ball in cricket is preposterous. Even the best baseball player only get to hit an average of 0.300 (number of hits divided by at bats)

Very unfair video. The guy was bowling aroun 40-50 mph max. Make him play against someone like MJ from now or waqar, Akhtar, Donald, Lee, etc from past and then see what happens.

Got nothing on Pathans and Punjabis. Afridi, who is close to 40 years of age, is still the best power-hitter in the world.

I read somewhere that Baseball is essentially an Americanized version of cricket. Before the revolution, cricket was a popular sport in the but after that Baseball was promoted as an American sport and everyone abandoned the English game.

Cricket over Baseball obviously.

Keep dreaming, Afridi is nothing more than a blind slogger who swings like there's no tomorrow and more often than not hauls out or gets bowled. Anderson and Maxwell are much more powerful than him.

Its embarrassing they used the word Science in the title of that program.

Yes, Afridi is a blind slogger who has no timong to speak off whatsoever. The fact that he still does what he does while being 36 years of age tells me that he's much stronger than Anderson. Maxwell isn't even in this discussion.

Afridi plays without the fear of getting out or embarrassing himself. Glorified blind slogger

LOL at comparing Aussies and Punjabis. Dont like to get much into ethnic stuff and genetics but Australians are considered some of the healthiest, biggest people in the world.

Personally being brought up in the UK i dont watch baseball not really popular in my neck of the woods. So cricket easily for me

Cricket ball is tough to hit because of the bounce, in this video they have showed an enclosed arena where a person can't even run to bowl faster

Let that guy face ishant/ bhuvi on a seaming/ bouncy pitch, i bet he would not even touch a single ball or would be caught behind. If it's Steyn/ MJ/ Asif it would be even more embarassing, i guess they won't be able to touch even a single delivery :)))

It's actually a lot later than that. Cricket was popular in the late 1800s in the United States, particularly in the North East. In fact a Philadelphia club side featuring the USA's only ATG,Bart King stunned the Aussies in 1893 in a drawn series. The problem is that most cricketers came from baseball backgrounds so it was only a matter of time before baseball pushed to the fore-and that happened after the first World War.

Baseball is much more popular. No one knows of credit beyond countries that were associated with the British.

Baseball is a far more a better sport. Most on here wouldn't even watch cricket if Pakistan wasn't involved. Face it it's a boring, long game.

cricket is a batsmens game, the onus is always on not getting out, baseball is a pitchers game, the onus is on the pitcher to not get hit, even one hit is a game changer.

the idea that cricket is more difficult, or baseball is more difficult is stupid.

you could be playing tiddlywinks and if a few million kids aspired to be pro tiddly wink players, itd be a terribly difficult game to play at the highest level.

Absolutely no comparison - one is skill based game, other is power based game. Apart from fast bowler, I doubt ant Cricketer can improve performance by PED, whereas Baseball is subject to by far highest number of banned drug cheats.

Only similarity is that both games are team game, built on same concept - that’s being a team game at a given point it’s 1 vs 1 and one of them is trying to hit an object with a tool, coming towards them at pace from the other one and rest active players trying to defend some playing areas.

The skill set is different, the scoring system is even more. In fact there are more similarities between Tennis & Baseball than Cricket & Baseball - the scoring fundamentals of Baseball is very much similar to Tennis.

Some history, Cricket was the national sport in the USA before the US civil war. Baseball was the result of anti-British sentiment.
