As happy as I was at the news of the new Pentagular Cup, each of the 5 captains have some sort of association with the province/region they are captaining except for Azhar Ali in Balochistan.

After looking at the list of various cricketers in Pakistan cricket, you will be hard pressed to find them from Balochistan. What a shame. A recent Balochi I spoke with told me that Balochis are treated like step-children in Pakistan. It really is hard to argue with that.

As many problems as we have in Pakistan cricket, not bringing up a whole province of cricketers has to be a major issue. Imagine the talent that we would be missing.

Balochistan is vital to Pakistan cricket and also to Pakistan. Most of you would not know this, but Balochistan has one of the most valuable copper mines in the world: Reko Diq. At peak commodity prices in 2011, the mine had over $500 Billion worth of both gold and copper...nearly half of Pakistan's GDP.

What does GDP have to do with cricket? They prefer playing Football instead of cricket but I would agree that cricket needs to be promoted in the region. Having regional teams like Balochistan and Quetta in PSL are great initiatives to promote cricket in Balochistan.

Lets select some rubbish cricketers from Balochistan like Bismillah Khan because they have good copper mines. Cricket should be promoted there but right now dont think they even have a good player

You missed the point completely. No way did I imply that picking cricketers should be based on GDP or resources. What I am trying to say is that the cricketing system of Balochistan needs to be developed.

Dada Pakistani GDP is $275 officially.. unofficially around 500-600 range..

I agree

When there is no system and one man picking team then this happen.

When PCB Selection committee decided the squad for Pentangular Cup previous year, they include atleast couple of players from Balochistan and similarly couple from interior Sindh in Sindh team.

I am ethnic Baloch from Balochistan Turbat. You can not produce talent until you not create the right environment.

Afghanistan has $12 trillion in natural resources, thats the mother load. India is sniffing..

I hope they have players from Balochistan playing for pakistan, likewise in Kashmir too.

Punjab has best quality players coming through with likes of Harris and Babar. Sindh is decent with likes of Asad Shafiq, Need to see more of newer Sindh players like Saad Ali and Rameez Aziz.

Balochistan is largely responsible for its own social problems and isolation from the rest of the country.

Punjab has the best quality players? Really? Hard to believe.

Bismillah Khan should debut for Pakistan national T20 team

Recently I was there in Quetta and spent one and half month in Cantt and traveled to other cities like Pishin, Ziarat and Chaman etc . Wat I saw there Cricket z not first preference as Sport , instead youth of Balochistan z much more inclined towards Football. N second I came acrossed only cricket ground other then Bhugti cricket stadium .

Makrani youth in Karachi are crazy about football. They follow Brazil as if they are actually Brazilians.

I remember in highschool our football team challenged some local club which was full of Makrani kids. All of us were from elite to middle class, sporting fancy footwear and excellent equipment and the club kids didn't have much to show for in terms of equipment.

They beat us 13-0 :ibutt

I'd love to see more Baloch cricketers, definitely worth PCB pursuing more investment there but if they're more into football I don't begrudge that either.

Would be awesome to see more Baloch sporting heroes in Pakistan period, be it cricket, football or whatever. An underrepresented group in public life.

Any talent coming from Balochistan?

So we see a lot of guys that are up and coming are either from Punjab Sindh or KPK , how ever we don't see any names from Balochistan. I myself don't have much knowledges of upcoming talent or our domestic cricket but I am carious too know is their any star talent that will be up and coming. I remember when I first saw bismillah khan I thought he should have been given a chance I know he isn't world class but I felt he was pretty decent. The other player that comes to mind is Mohammad Ashgar but I believe he never got to make his international debut

Watch out for a kid called Yasir Khan, a classy batsman who has a big future
