Curious selections in the Pakistan T20I team

Funny thing is that our T20 national team wicket-keeper isn't even getting a spot in the starting XI for a PSL franchise . .

Wicket keeper slot should be one of . . Kamran Akmal and Sarfaraz and potentially Zeeshan but I'd like to see him play more . .

Another funny selection was Ahsan Ali. Another guy who can't get a game for his franchise and clearly having watched him play T20s, should be no where near the international team either . .

Will Misbah see the fact that Rizwan and Ahsan shouldn't be in the national T20 team?

The likes of Shehzad and Umar selected out of nowhere and then dropped after a couple of matches.

Irfan selected randomly and then dropped after a couple of matches.

Ahsan Ali selected randomly and (probably) dropped after a couple of matches.

Khushdil selected randomly and dropped from the team after a couple of matches.

Usman Qadir getting selected randomly but not picked in the playing 11. Also not being picked in his PSL side.

Sarfaraz dropped from t20s for not being 'dynamic' enough and replaced by someone like Rizwan.

Hafeez and Malik - the 'senior' 'experienced' 'core' of the team dropped for the tough Australia away tour and selected for Home tour against a weak Bangladesh side.

Amir and Wahab seemingly dropped because they retired from Tests.

These are just some of the ridiculous things off the top of my head. It would be interesting to hear some actual counter arguments from people on this.

Exactly. It sums up why someone like Kamraan Akmal has played HUNDREDS of matches for our National team. Fans repeatedly clamour for his return because he displays good domestic form or plays some aggressive shots. When you try and explain that he has consistently flopped and that too at a poor strike rate they reply with 'No stats are pointless. He is a dynamic player and I KNOW he will do well this time'.

4. He is rated highly by Viv Richards, Misbah and Babar Azam. (He played under age Cricket with Babar Azam in same team)


5. He has recently lost quite alot of weight so it does affects your balance at the crease. It would take some time.




Having said all this Ahsan needs to further improve his fitness aswell as mental side of his game.



This Cricket crazy nation deserves to see his cover drives, flicks of his legs and Cut shots against fast medium to fast pacers. Hope he delivers for QG and Pakistan.

I have made my own judgement, yes! You don't have to agree with it

But happy to be proven wrong mate . .

I have seen all those innings that you have mentioned . . I don't think he can be successful in intl cricket with that technique . . 2 games is definitely too little to judge . . but I am not judging him only on the basis of those 2 games, although those 2 games cemented my view . .

Also, if he is rated highly by Viv, then you can't get a bigger stamp of approval. Perhaps, Quetta can fit him in the XI?

Like I said, I have seen him play. . don't like the look of him and don't think he can succeed at that level. But will be really happy if he proves me wrong!

One of the most disappointing thing in PSL 5 is Imad’s insecurity over U Khan, though of him highly as a level headed/fair guy & a future captain but he proved me wrong ..

The worrying thing about our T20 team other than Babar we don't have a clue who else will be in our batting line up. Australia and England know their best line ups barring 1 or 2 players.

Quite a few odd things going on


Rizwan the keeper in all 3 Pak sides can't get a game in the PSL

Haris Sohail, a regular in T20 can't get games in the PSL

Umer Khan, one of the best bowlers last year has yet to bowl an over this year

Ahsan Ali, who played two T20's for Pakistan in the last month has yet to bat in the PSL
