We know both of these teams currently probably have the weakest test batting lineup in their history. So which one is worse? P.S I am talking about the current Australian line-up which is without smith, warner and bancroft.

Australia is worse

Elgar is one of the better test openers right now even if he is out of form. Markram is an excellent prospect, and De Knock is inconsistent but dangerous. These three are better than what Australians have to offer.

Aus will gladly take Markram and Elgar as their openers, and De Kock can play the kinds of innings that Paine can't.

I thought the same but the Australian team absolutely smashed this sri lankan team which is performing pretty good against south africa at the moment.

Of course. Since Pakistan were whitewashed by South Africa and we defeated Australia, by default Pakistan faced a better batting line up.

Without Smith and Warner, Aus batting is worse.

SA batting is decent but they are missing someone in that middle order, sort of AB de Villiers equivalent.

Honestly i did not even think about India here, so i don't know what you are on about.

Markram is one of the most promising young players in the world. How would he not walk into the Australian team? He scored a couple of magnificent hundreds vs Aus, he was the second best batsman in either team in that series only behind AB. Its not a stretch to say he would walk into the Aus team.

Elgar has been one of the most consistent openers in the world, again, what does that have to do with India?

AB de Villers has retired

Which is why they are a weak batting unit and will find it harder when they travel, particularly in Asia, unless of course they show drastic improvement in their game from what they have put in Sri Lanka.
