RIP. First time hearing about him.
Yeah just heard about it. All the rock music legends are leaving us one by one. RIP Ziggy.
But their work still lives, right? People come and go. At least they left something behind.
RIP. First time hearing about him.
This is the first time you've heard of David Bowie? What world do you live in?

This is a tribute thread on someone who has passed away. Let it be that way instead of questioning others who have not heard of him.
Not heard about him either, so what the fuss? Is it compulsory to know about everyone in the world?
Most people in their twenties in India have probably never heard of him. That kind of music has not been mainstream in ages.
Sad. However, anyone who has ever listened to rock music would know or hear about the influence of David Bowie on this particular genre. Listening to his own music is a different thing. I'm surprised people haven't even heard of him. He is cited as an inspiration by many of the young rock stars.
It seems as though Indians live under a huge rock or possibly don't listen to any music other than bollywood
First Lemmy and now him.RIP the legend.
Add Starman to the list.Another great track.Robert just listened to space oddity and the man who sold the world in succession. Tears
Add Starman to the list.Another great track.
Unless you're a hardcore rock fan, you'd hardly find any David Bowie fans among younger kids or even people who have heard of him. I wouldn't say the same for MJ or Elvis or the Beatles .
Anyway glam rock is pretty much dead isnt it? Can't think of any artist right now anyway.

Yeah let's generalize a country of billion just because some Indian posters on pakpassion don't know about a musician.Take a bow sir
Heard they disbanded after his death?Yeah I loved Motorhead in my teens.
Already took one earlier today. The applause was brilliant.
Did u like them eggs and tomatoes? Ours are better.

Bowie was bigger than glam rock - he encompassed sixties pop, soul, the avant-guard period with Brian Eno in Berlin, krautrock, glossy eighties pop, hard rock and even jazz.
BTW think of the actor who played Tesla in The Prestige.

Although glam rock died back in the late 70's the influence can still be found in a lot of recent acts such as Motley Crue, Kiss Placebo, Marilyn Manson, and The Darkness.
Moreover, Bowie's songs have been covered by some of the biggest mainstream bands as well such as Nirvana, Beck, Smashing Pumpkins, My Chemical Romance and The White Stripes.
Tesla was played by Bowie?![]()
You would know.
Mate, you used to be a good poster. Why this sudden change over the last couple of weeks.
I don't know. I think may be possessed.
No, I don't mean anything by it. It's just friendly banter. Nothing serious.
It's just shocking that people don't know about such a legendary rock star. Its like people not knowing who Elvis or Michael Jackson are.
Elvis and Michael Jackson are way more popular than David Bowie so stop getting all surprised that there are people who have never heard of him.

I guess there are many people outside US/Europe who doesn't know Elvis....MJ is recent phenomenon and his dance moves are copied by every college dancers.
I suppose I misjudged and thought that the posters would be mature adults instead of 15 year old girls.
In Pakistan or at least where I'm from in Pakistan, everyone knows about MJ and many have heard of Elvis. I can't say the same about David Bowie.
Which village are you from?
I'm from Lahore genius. Stop getting all ******** that people haven't heard of David Bowie. He isn't on the same level as MJ or ELvis or Beatles when it comes to popularity.
Why are you getting so worked up? Relax buddy. Take a chill pill.
Shiekhupura isn't part of Lahore btw

Though more influential in the worlds of music, fashion and photography than any of them, I would argue.

He was Britain Elvis, that's how influential and popular he was in the UK.
Come on Robert this is over the top tbf. MJ is known all over the world for his music, soul and RNB have been influenced by him including his dance moves. Bowie may be a great in rock culture but overall in music there will never be a bigger and more influential star in the world of music.

I know man but I don't think he was as popular as MJ, Elvis or the Beatles worldwide.
He wasn't a British Elvis at all, he was bisexual and married a Somali immigrant to change his life around I expect. It's just a shame this union produced no kids.

There are certain genre's which are a lot more popular then others, Bowie had his own world wide fan base and his work was very influential.

Debatable..His dance moves changed world not music.
I guess Beetles are the most influential in Music world.
