Speaking in an interview:

"I think the Blast is the best T20 competition in the world - not for its quality necessarily, but for its longevity, the joy that it brings to spectators in the UK culminating in one of the greatest days in the cricket calendar - Finals Day - which I used to dread. Fourteen hours, full on, with a mascot race when I didn't have a clue what they were doing and the Hollies Stand where they don't know what day it is from 10 o'clock in the morning.

"I have worked on the IPL, but it is a private enterprise and benefiting already wealthy people. The T20 Blast is for the people and bringing money into the game. That's a major factor for me in saying it is the best. The IPL fits an Indian audience because the players are Gods out there, but it is deadly serious. If I am doing a T20 game I'll have a hoot. Blokes messing up and having a laugh, although serious enough that everyone cares about the outcome. I embraced the competition straightaway and could see that it is fun and entertainment."

Now the Blast is under pressure, part of a county game that feels under siege. Attendances were at record levels before the disruption caused by Covid, but since then the Hundred has been heavily marketed and a few county officials are looking at advance Blast ticket sales this summer with a little concern. The future of the professional game in England is impossible to predict.

"The Hundred is fun and has brought new interest. But the problem is it doesn't fit, it messes up too many other things. If you look at the three main players - ECB, Sky, BBC - ECB like it because it brings a shed-full of money, Sky's viewing figures are high, and it gets the BBC into the game, a game that is short and that fits their schedules. But it kills county cricket."

Interesting that Bumble is accusing the IPL of being serious cricket. While saying the blast and The Hundred are about fun and games.

The IPL, for that matter all T20 leagues on the forum are accused of being "hit and giggle" cricket. But for some reason, Bumble surprisingly thinks different about IPL.

Given the crap we seem to be churning out of late, the English may be right on that one.

I agree with Bumble.

The blast may not be the most intense tournament or have the best players but there is undoubtedly a real fun factor to the matches.

I would watch the blast finals day over any other T20 league final any day of the week.

The 100 on the other hand is a monstrosity.

The Blast being the best? I don't think so.

IPL, BBL, and PSL seem much better than The Blast. I don't even know the teams from The Blast.

Most European films are better than Hollywood. French movies are best actually.

On topic, Bumble is wrong. IPL is the best T20 competition in the world along with Wt20.

Sorry but a T20 tournament cannot be the best in the world. It is good for watching when you don't have much to do except timepass but this format is not worth a rating of best, better or great.

I agree with Bumble

The atmosphere on Finals day is electrifying you just have to attend to see.

It’s all entertainment from
the commies, guests, spectators etc.

You will never find Harsha, Ramiz or Moody singing songs or wearing fancy dress costumes like Elvis.

What Bumble is saying IPL is too serious whilst The Blast is played in better spirit.

Calling IPL "deadly serious" is actually a compliment. Him preferring backyard fun Cricket is a matter of personal choice.

Blast is in its original intended T20 form, fun cricket. A good day out for families, especially kids and a lot of fun. It is what T20 was introduced for, it may not be as fun to watch on the TV but watching it live at the venue, it is probably the most fun cricket. I haven't been to games of any other leagues for comparison but cricket at UK ground is so close to the spectators that it makes a lot of difference.

Bumble seems confused. He is claiming Blast to be the best and fun competition? Also expressing concern about The100 devaluing county cricket.

I just don't know what Bumble is trying to say here lol. :))

I think the main thing bumble is trying to say is that the Blast, and in particularly the finals day, is one massive **** up... drunk by 10am...

It’s a very fine competition.

There has been a bit of a concern this year unfortunately because initial ticket sales have been slow. More buyers are going in for the Hundred.
