Even the commentators have said today and tomorrow are the best days to bat on this pitch. Hazlewood was trash outside australia. In these conditions, you need tall, mean fast bowlers, who bowl at your head and chest with the ball. Naseem is too short for these conditions, but shaheen has not been aggressive enough.
Having said that, this is a 400+ pitch and our batters only scored 240, so blame lies with them.
This is not about this match or this pitch.
Universally, Pakistan has the ability to convert flat tracks into minefields and minefields into flat tracks when they are bowling. People hype our bowlers even before they have set their foot on the field and I find that intellectual dishonesty.
The point is Shaheen and Naseem have rarely hit their lengths consistently enough to get anything out of the pitch. The less said about Imran, the better. If Abbas was in, he probably would get better control but he would also be luckless as well. The difference is in class and ability, but you would be welcome to doubt that.
The pitch has something in it still, but it is only for those bowlers who are world class. I am sure Bumrah and Shami on the same pitch would be more lethal than our Shaheen and Naseem. Bowlers need time to develop and we have thrown 02 rookies on a slightly difficult track. Now you can argue that it is the flatness of the track, which is preventing them from realizing their full potential, but at the end of the day they aren't good enough yet.
I won't repeat myself again so just read my words carefully and make of them what you will.
