Jammu: Two CRPF Inspectors and two officers of the Jammu and Kashmir Police were killed and five other security personnel were injured in the gunfight at Babagund Langate area of Handwara in frontier Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.

A civilian was killed as well in the clashes that broke out near the encounter site between the forces and youth.

Official sources said the CRPF and the Army personnel went to retrieve the militant bodies amid a lull, one of the two militants, earlier believed to be dead stood up and fired indiscriminately.

The encounter broke late last night after the joint team of the Army's 22 RR, 92 Battalion CRPF and SOG launched a cordon-and-search operation at Khanan Babagund in Langate.

All the injured were taken to district hospital Handwara for treatment.

Why are we not providing our soldiers / police bulletproof jackets ? Sad to lose the precious lives battling terrorists.

First you should provide them with food and better planes.

That's another lack.. we expect our soldiers to die and become martyrs, we can glorify their death, but can't provide them basic protection.

Does US army operate in such an unprofessional manner ?

US is the richest country in the world and their defense budget is equal to next 20 nations combined. Dont think their soldiers would complain about lack of food.

Hmm.. India has a decent defense budget, but somehow the basic facilities are not provided to these soldiers.. whether rich or poor, it is our fault.

It's a problem all over the world, though in the US there are different issues. Veteran suicide rates are high and they often complain that they aren't taken care of properly.

Haven't ever heard of any army soldiers ever committing suicide in Pakistan. They are treated with a lot of respect and after a soldier, of whatever rank, dies, naturally or embraces martyrdom, his family is taken care of extremely well.

Next time carry a flame thrower and torch the dead terrorists just in case. This is inefficiency from the Indian armed forces.

Of course people can complain of not being provided proper AC also.. The threshold of complaints need to be considered. When we send a few CRPF/Army soldiers for encounter ops, and can't provide them protective gear, it is a shame.

Our martyr count is increasing, and we have become immune to their deaths.

The Indian public is happy shedding a few tears for them, but we never ask question why so many of them are dying fighting these lowlife terrorists.

The surgical strikes are all fine for chest thumping jingoism, but we have not been able to take out any big ticket terrorists shows we are not as good as we pretend to be.

Thanks, but we don't care about 4 dead jawans or 5 IAF members in the heli crash but hahaha we shot your F-16 down, won a Test series in Australia and won the 2011 WC beating you in Semi-Final. Hahah MODI Ji JAI,. JAI SHRI RAM !!!! MUAKA MUAKA !!

^^^^
Did I do this right ? :vk1

Who told you that these two were terrorists? Did they kill any civilians or just the occupying force?

I think the title should read: Kashmiri Jawan kills 4 Indian Terrorists.

That's a totally different argument.. whether they are freedom fighters for you, they are terrorists for us. Anyone who takes arms against the state of India is our enemy..

My argument is only about providing our soldiers proper protection and not waste their precious lives. We should be ashamed of celebrating their death as a glory.

I guess next time indian army will shoot 3 times to make sure the terrorists are dead.

They are definitely your enemies, just like most Kashmiris. My question however, was regarding their classification as "terrorists", when they are in fact trying to protect the civilian population from the terror of the Indian army.

I am not sure of most Kashmiris.. but yes from the Kashmiri (Muslims) I met, 7 out of 10 are anti-India. 1 was pro-India and a few neutrals.

Anyway, unless they take up arms (including stones) against the armed forces, I would not call them terrorists.

Do you know what the word "terrorist" means?

How many Indian soldiers have died since India bombed trees in Pakistan?

Anyone?

Indian media doesn't need the approval of anybody to report these kind of news, they will do anything to increase viewership so it's actually not that difficult to get the numbers

I have no idea what you mean.

Doesn't the Indian public want to know the names of any of their soldiers who have been killed? I saw Modi with photos of the dead behind him when making a speech. So assumed India loves it's jawans so much it will want to know who has died and even who is injured but I can't seem to find a single list on any India media confirming the numbers.

At least 11. Five in the helicopter crash, four in this confrontation and one each at the hands of the Pakistani AF and suicidal tendencies.

Are you asking Zakir Naik definition of terrorism ?

The standard definition of terrorism will do. More importantly, how do you justify calling these people "terrorists"?

Its shocking India has not released the accurate number and names of these soldiers. The only sensible reason could be the families havent been informed. In the UK the families are informed immediatley and then names, photos are made public.

India not blaming Pak for this? I see thy are learning:babar

How are they terrorists when they are there to defend own land?

the typical cost of a body armor is around $1200. or about Rs. 100,000. Keep in mind this kevlar would lose its cross stitch integrity over time. thus, you must inspect them, and replace them periodically.

we have over 1.2 million soldiers, around 1.5 million other ancillary servicemen and women, and about 2.5 million law enforcement personnel.

do the math.

its just cheaper to make peace.

because they are not using democratic or civil methods.

and dont worry, i dont consider the indian response particularly civil either.
When you don't allow political space or civil methods what are they supposed to do.Those who follow above methods are languishing behind bars from so many years which I am sure you guys don't have any clue.

I absolutely agree with you that civil disobedience and protests should be permitted and not stifled in india. The use of shot guns for crowd control in my opinion is a human rights violation. To outlaw politics parties that advocate for succession is likely unconstitutional by western standards though india’s constitution has very few protections for free speech.

All this and much more: attoricities against political prisoner and enhanced interrogation are all crimes that Indian government is guilty of.

But none of that discounts the crimes of the separatists. I can understand their lure of turning to aggression as it may seem like the only available recourse, but still it is a crime and absolutely heinous.

Dead Militant Gets up = Miracle.

Even God supports Kashmiri militants. A cue that India needs to take note of.

Why cant Indian Govt sits with Kashmiris of JK and solve this matter for once and all. Why is Indian govt so adamant of keeping Army their to bring peace, it hasn’t worked for the last 30 years and it has failed miserably. Time for Indian govt to show relaxation in the JK and show Kashmiris respect and show they care about the people who has been living there for centuries. Come on India Show remorse so people of Kashmir can show faith in your Army that they can live their lifes in a normal way. Modi hate for Muslims is v visible 2002 gujrat riots are there as evidence. India need a new Leader tired of these BJP who has old chip stuck in their brains about having Hindustan. India should give chance to Rajiv Gandhi.

Kashmiri cant be stopped, even death doesnt scare them. One came back from the dead to deal with his oppressors, that's a miracle

"Including stones" lmao, terrorists attacking with stones.
Even though considering the last few days ,a guy "armed" with stones vs an armed indian policeman/soldier is a fair fight.

If throwing stones at others makes you a terrorist then the indians that threw stones at Australia Cricket team, dhoni's house, yuvraj singh's house, and shakib al Hasan's house are bloody terrorists and need to be treated the way indian army is treating Kashmiri people and that means they should be blinded, raped, shot, and lynched.
