I think it’s quite clear that 13 places are fixed for the World Cup and the final two are to be decided in this series.

One - who is the extra middle order batsman between Malik and Umar. Ofcourse if they both perform in this series and Hafeez remains injured then they both make it through. Otherwise one will have to go. Haris has pretty much sealed his place with a century and just has to not flop in the rest of the matches.

Two - Abbas, Junaid and Hasnain are fighting it out for the backup pacer space in the squad. Whether Amir deserves to play or not is debatable, but given his performance in previous finals, I think they will select him in the squad. Unless he flops ever harder in the remaining matches.

5. Shoaib Malik - Scores Quick runs and has tons of experience needs to capitalize on that.
6. Mohammad Hafeez - Elegant Batsmen would be providing the strength in the lineup and can bowl economical spells.
7. Sarfaraz Ahmed - Quick Run scoring batsmen but needs to let his bat talk as well, no doubt about his keeping ability or his captaincy.
8. Asif Ali - Pinch Hitter, mostly we end up having a RR of 3-4 by 35th over. Need player like Asif to end things on a high also had a decent PSL.
9. Shadab Khan - Handly Allrounder with a lot of positive energy in the field.
10. Imad Wasim - Sticks to Basic Bowling Wicket to the wicket and can bat down the order.
11. Hasan Ali - Best bowler in Pakistani circuit
12. Mohammed Amir - Needs to find his A game, definitely an asset but has to perform to prove it.
13. Shaheen Shah - Raw pace generating that kind of bounce from a very dedicated youngster is a strong addition to the team.
14 - Faheem Ashraf - a good bowling allrounder, did well in the PSL.


These are picks I can think of at the moment a lot will be defined from the Australia series and Pakistan Cup.

So a couple of changes for me, with the inclusion of Ali and Abbas. Ali needs to play purely on his six hitting ability, Abbas on how consistent he is.

I also think any of Rauf, Hasnain or Shinwari could and should be picked for the squad.

A lot of the squad pick themselves. I don't feel Malik should be selected over Hafeez given his atrocious run of recent form and we need at least one of them.

Shaheen and Hasan the only surefire travellers out of the bowlers. I just think at this point we'll see Hasnain due to his pace, and Amir because his control may be useful on English phattas and he is a little handier with the bat compared to his rivals.

I would like to see Hasnain in place of Amir.
Also not a huge a fan of Junaid Khan but we don't have many options right now.
If couple of key players find form in the tournament than Pakistan will have a good WC.

I personally don't mind junaid khan but I would like to have Hasnain and haris Rauf in the squad also would not want imam ul haq I would even go with ahsan Ali

Umar and Shan are battling it out.

Junaid, Hasnain or Faheem are competing as the bowlers for the outside chance at the World Cup of which Junaid is favorite. I don't think Wahab has a chance anymore.

Agree there, barring any last minute injuries, just two spots left to be decided. Shan/Umar and one pacer from Junaid, Usman (knowing our think tank i'm sure he is still in contention) and Hasnain and maybe even Abbas (if he gets 2 more matches then he is surely on Mickey's list).
I think Shan will edge out Umar. This is the best chance Shan has of playing a WC and dad won't let that slip, not that Umar has done himself any favors by being at his usual brainless best when he could've easily gone on to make big scores in both the games.
Overall it will be one of the weakest squads Pakistan has ever fielded in a WC, one where you can question the place of pretty much every player in the squad but at the same time be at a loss if asked to name a replacement for any of them.

This is an ideal setup to take wickets and a lineup that has the potential to set up and chase big targets. Big hitters in Fakhar, Umar and Asif and Hafeez is a reliable finisher. Accumulators in Babar, Haris Sohail, Sarfraz

Bowling lineup has 4 wicket takers and then Fakhar, Hafeez and Haris should share the 5th bowling option. Malik is a backup for Hafeez, Faheem for Shadab if we go no genuine spinner depending on the pitch, Imam as backup opener. Hasnain can be used to rotate the fast bowlers.

1. Kamran Akmal (done the best of the seniors in the PSLs, at least shows some ability against pace, and a right-handed opener who looks comfortable against pace is needed)
2. Imam (only one of these type of players taken, hopefully this opening pair can repeat PZ form)

4. Fakhar (is a risk demoting him but lately have had no faith up the order, he's just getting exposed. Mid order will protect him, we're kind of banking on him scoring big, we can't afford to lose him cheaply)
5. Sarfraz
6. Asif Ali (showed in the PSL he's still got a hitting ability others don't. Is a risk, but not impressed by umar akmal either, and we need someone to up the ante, not like Malik. If Hafeez can play this role maybe, but am doubtful especially coming back from injury, and age creeping up)

10. Amir (He doesn't deserve it really, it's just because it's England)
