Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) franchise Islamabad United’s head coach Dean Jones has said that Pakistan will miss Misbah Ul Haq the captain the most.

“Pakistan will of course miss Misbah’s batting but his on-field captaincy is what they will miss the most. He is a bowler’s captain,” Dean Jones said. “He is a bowler’s captain,” he added.

The Australian batting maestro stated that he has spent his life playing cricket, but he never came across such a calmer captain.

“I have been part of cricket all my life, I have seen many captains but when I coached Islamabad United, I realised I have never seen a calmer captain than Misbah,” he told.

Jones mentioned the game of PSL where Islamabad United successfully defended 7 runs in the last two overs against Quetta Gladiators to explain Misbah’s calmness under pressure.

United were defending 166 runs and the equation came down to 7 runs in two overs with six wickets in hand. He trusted Rumman Raees for penultimate over and Mohammad Sami for ultimate over and the two bowlers did the trick for the team.

The Aussie believe that it was not luck, but Misbah’s brilliance.

“You look at our match against Quetta, most other teams would have panicked but we defended 7 off the last two overs, it wasn’t luck, Misbah believes that much in his bowlers,” he stated.

True, Pakistan will miss Misbah's captaincy a lot after he is gone. Ideally, it will be nice if PCB hire Misbah as teams advisor after his retirement so that Misbah is still able to guide the team.

Indeed. All the naysayers will be put to rest soon after Misbah isn't there. He had a great tactical brain and is often underrated for it. Every captain has their own, unique style and Misbah has found a lot of success in his.

Did he check with Chappell, what he thinks of Misbah's on field tactics? ;-)

I understand his calmness but he is way too pragmatic for modern game and Pakistan. He settles on mediocracy, does not takes risk, very defensive field placements, his tactics of drying up run all the time, rather than attacking has taken Pakistan backward. We are team full of average run of the mill medium pacers, Misbah don't like to invest in fast bowlers, you are not going to find ready made players, you have to invest in right kind of players. You cannot fill team with Misbah kind of personalities and talent. You got to invest in better talent and aggressive players who want to take game forward rather than sit back and wait for opposition to make mistake, that was Misbah's style ...

Only reason Yasir keeps on playing because like Ajmal, he drys up the runs(well not anymore, but used too). Even he has put Amir on that task too, give me 2-2.5 ECO, first and foremost. Those are bad tactics, bowlers are not thinking about wickets, they settle in on defensive lines, they feel job is done if they don't consume too many, Misbah was focusing on wrong things. I hope we make a major change in core strategy of team, we don't need to sit back and wait for others to make mistake...

No will not miss him a but.
These "political" statements are not unexpected though.
