Pakistan at this point is no longer a country, it's a collective of local administrations who have no real representative authority, they are just there to rubber stamp the larger authorities who in turn are standing in line for bailouts from international banking institutions. Then the money is just carved up and doled out down the line to said local authorities once the big boys have taken their cut. I guess the country can limp on like this indefinitely as long as the loans keep getting drip fed in.

ECP issues schedule for 2024 general elections​

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), in compliance with the Supreme Court order, on late Friday night issued the election schedule for the upcoming February 8 general election.

According to a notification issued by the ECP, the Returning Officer will issue a public notice on December 19, and the period for filing nominations with the Returning Officer will be from December 20 to 22.

The Election Commission of Pakistan stated that the names of nominated candidates will be published on December 23, and the scrutiny of their nomination papers will take place from December 24 to 30.

The deadline for filing appeals against the RO’s decisions on accepting or rejecting nomination papers is January 3, and the appellate tribunal is expected to decide on the appeals by January 10. The revised list of candidates will be published on Jan 11 and the last date for withdrawing one’s candidature is Jan 12.

It was also stated in the ECP notification that the election programme shall also apply to the seats reserved for women and non-Muslims in the National and provincial assemblies.

Election symbols will be assigned to political parties on January 13, and the polls are scheduled for February 8, as per the ECP announcement.
