India played the best possible lineup they could given the preparations they had done for the World Cup. If you can't chase even 240, then it is the preparation that should be questioned.
Rishabh Pant was not seen as next no. 4 by Indian fans but someone who could bat in the last 20 overs and do some power hitting after Dhoni and karthik/Rayudu builds the innings. With experience and time, he would have learned to take more responsibility and by the time he turns 25, he could have been our new Yuvraj. Imagine a Yuvraj Singh of 2000 coming to bat in that situation at no. 4, how fair it was to him.
It always had to be Dinesh Karthik and MSD coming in the middle order, taking some time and building the inning(target was 240,so them facing lots of bowls won't have been the issue) for India to have a chance and then Pant, Pandya and Jadeja to finish things off.
The batting position was so messed up that even after a Jadeja masterclass, we failed to chase 240,which nine out of 10 times India would have chased down.
