Did today's match highlight the need of Babar Azam to this T20I team?

In today's match we saw 2 main problems with Pakistan team.

1) 56 dots off 119. Almost 50% dots
2) Wickets tumbling like a pack of cards.

I reckon, Babar Azam has been doing just what this team needed. Whereas he's been continuously mocked for low strike rate. And we've seen what happened when he's not available.

What would Babar Azam do?

Solution to Problem 1: Babar Azam has the least dot ball percentage. It's even lower compared to Kohli, who's a king when it comes to strike rotation

Solution to Problem 2: Babar Azam can easily hold onto one end. He can get his customary 55(40). Whereas others(Fakhar, Malik, Asif, Shadab and Faheem) can hit around him with not much fear of getting bowled out and get 110(80). That's easily 160+

Poor guy gets too much hate.

I was gonna do a thread on this.
Lots of people think he does not have an impact in Lois.
Well we just saw the impact of his absence against half decent bowling

He is not a WC batsman. Tbh he's not a #1 T20I batsman.

But he certainly is what this team needs. A team like Pakistan needs.

Need to bring both Shehzad, Babar back in the team. And Imad to replace Nawaz as always (Nawaz is even worse than Imad).

You call talat a poor player and then you want shehzad. In case you didn't know we can't play 120 dots. Don't put Babar and shehzad in a same sentence Babar is million times the player selfie will ever be.

It highlights the need to get rid of Hafeez before he eats away this team , the most selfish player ever to play international cricket. Btw happy to have in @no 6-7 but that is not in his facit...

i think either Malik or Hafeez should play. I know Malik has stopped bowling and he is playing as a specialist but then they are same style and then the age factor.
We have started doing well in ODI(still not upto the mark) because we drafted young players, before that it was the same style of playing doesn't matter who was the captain.

Hafeez has no business being there (thanks Inzi)... We should try out Farhan in the next match and drop Talat down to 5/6. I wouldn't mind if Shadab or Fahim are sent at one down in place of Talat. We really are missing Babar Azam, I wonder why other team's fans can make excuses that their players like Warner, Smith, Monro etc are missing but we can't make excuse that number one ranked T20 batsman is missing from our side.

Hussain talat is just not good enough for any international cricket. If your no 3-4 can bat well it's only then that you can expect a good score. It's they who arrest a batting collapse. I find Asif Ali more talented than any of the youngsters around in Pak cricket. He hits the ball clean and hits it straight. Not many in the team can hit the ball in V section. I'm not convinced that Hussain talat and Mohammed Nawaz deserve to be in team .

Babar is Pakistan's best bat.
I don't think that he is best in the world but he is what pakistan needs.
He is surely amongst top 10 players in t20 but not the best.

It definitely tells me that he is a pivotal player in our team in all formats. He is exactly what you mentioned in the second point that he has the ablility to hold up one end and score at a decent rate. The problem Pakistan doesn't have anyone like that in the T20 team right now even though we have Hussain Talat but he's currently not in form

Two things:

1) Babar is a very good player, but there are around 20-25 better T20 batsman in the world. His number one ranking is as flimsy as Pakistan's number one ranking, and they are of course interlinked. Both got a lot of games against weak opposition with weak bowling attacks, inflating their performances.

2) In spite of his limitations, Babar is the most prolific batsman in the country. Hence, we definitely missed him today, but he would not have changed the outcome. At best, he might have taken the score to 140, ensured a 7 wicket loss which is preferable to a 9 wicket loss.

With or without Babar, we have a very mediocre T20 team and what we saw today was inevitable. However, our fans love to set themselves up for disappointment.

Yes we needed him but we need more power in the batting line up. Hafeez ,Sarfraz , and Malik won't take us anywhere in T20.

Farhan should replace Hafeez in the next game. He may not be the answer but would rather try him than stick with a player who is well past his best.
