What a ridiculous state of affairs.

A group of workers in India complained that singer Diljit Dosanjh's concert in Houston was being organised by a man of Pakistani origin. They were so stupid they even called for his visa to be cancelled (such a visa would have been issued by America not India).

An absolute hero. What's the highest civilian award you can get in India. Give him that.

Well they gave Vir Chakra to Abhinandan for getting shot down, punched and slapped on the face and then paraded as a mule.

So this guy definitely deserves more than that. True Indian hero.

Haha I won't mock a soldier. But it's hilarious that this guy thinks he is somehow helping India against Pakistan by canceling a concert that was mostly going to be attended by Indians anyway.

Wonder if he was a Hindu he would need to go out of his way to prove his loyalty/love for India...

Time to cancel Jindal steels contacts and supply across India now **%##%.

Glad I didn’t book it, irrespective entertainment politics is common.

Also clearly his some rival complained.

I like Diljit, he seems to be a cool dude.

Wonder why he had to cancel the tour because of the promoter being a Pakistani.

What a muppet.

Shows that the group-culture in India is far stronger than the projectors of “the worlds largest democracy” would have us believe.

Smart guy, saving his chadi and continue source of cheddar.

Imagine, if Arnab had found out that his promoter is Pakistani, he would have been asked to verify his loyalty to "Mother India".

Sikh of India have to be extremely careful in dominate Hindu India.

I don’t know who he is apart from what I read in this article. He apparantly cancelled the concert because of some pakistani involvement.

So if he was cool before this newz, fine, but if you as a pakistani still think he is cool then I don’t find you any cool at all:)

The ‘like’ has become ‘liked’ and the ‘seems’ has become ‘seemed’.

He should not have canceled the tour but it isn’t his fault really... if he had performed, he would’ve been called a traitor.

When patriotism goes mad.

Cancel everything that has even the slightest of link to Pakistan. Well, many Indians have gone mad in the past few years.

I wonder if India will refuse to play Pakistan in world cup, lol

Patriotism seems to be on another level these days.

Lol biggest democracy my foot. Bunch of immature cry babies. Grow up and join the current times

This.

Current dispensation has changed India (for the worst) forever. Sadly, we may never get to see the old India.

Pakistanis are fine with boycotting israel. But if so.eone boycotts pakistanis, all hell breaks loose.

Boycotting someone is a person's, Organizations or nations right.

I am surprised that no one in India criticised Shamia Arzoo for marrying Pakistani cricketer Hassan Ali. Concert is nothing in front of this. :inti

And not boycotting someone is also a person's right. He shouldn't be called a traitor or they shouldn't ban him for using his right. Just like they did to singer Mika for performing in Pakistan. :inti

this cheez, The guy will not go with his own logics to prove that was right.

TBH I think can see why artists in India will avoid things even remotely associated with Pakistan 1) due to back lash from media and 2) it results in good PR.

More aptly, it seems Shreya Ghosal had a concert in the USA only last week, promoted by the same guy (Rehan Saddiqui) and there was no such protests.
If this is indeed confirmed then the question needs to be asked that why are these associations being selective?

Mika Singh was banned because his parent organization has boycotted pakistan. Mika is free to breakaway from bollywood and do his stuff.

Yes. They should question her also.

Either allow all or allow none.

I notice the same hypocrites supporting Mr Singh's position are choosing not to boycott a Pakistani cricket website... :moyo2

If we are not cool with him than how should we expect him to be cool with us? By accepting the notion that the promoter is a Pakistani national when in fact he is a American is going the third world country way. I rather not be barbaric cavemen like these guys, I rather be different.

Lol, when you go to his concerts he will get your money, of course he will then be cool to you. No money= no cool. Nothing more.

But he has now cancelled a concert because of pakistani involvement. How can you just ignore that?

Rehan siddiqui Does a lot of desi concerts in houston and dallas area . He owns a local/desi radio station as well . Seems like some butt hurt indians promoters couldn't accept the fact that a Pakistani guy is running the show in houston .

Are you mixing up boycotting a state v/s individuals?

I would understand if Diljit cancelled a concert if it was taking place in Pakistan for various reasons but this is just ridiculous and petty imo.

To me it sounds more like him canceling this event due to the pressure of his community. He does not wanna look bad in public eye of Indians since that is where he made his fame. If this cancelation was due to a Pakistani promoter than why would he agree to it to begin with? Are you trying to say he agreed to it while not being aware of the Pakistani promoter. So if he went there while not knowing, he would instantly leave if he found out?

If he agreed in the first place, why did he cancel it. What wrong has Pakistani people done in between? And forget pakistani people, what wrong has Pakistani leadership done? Raised their Voice against oppression of a people.

It is in this tough times you get to know the reality of these celebs. if he can’t see what is happening in Kashmir I don’t think he is that cool. He should in fact have held this concert in solidarity of Kashmiris, ok, now that is over the board lol, but you get my point.

I liked Diljit, he's a talented signer and actor. Turns out he's nothing more than a chuaara, unsubscribed

Serves like some Pakistani guy tried to make money from organising an event in the US involving some Indian singer and it backfired. Serves him right if you ask me, hope he realises the reality of today's hostile India.

Guys read this personal story if you have a minute.

I went to a Gurdaas Maan concert (Famous Indian Punjabi singer for those that don’t know) here in the UK (Wembley Arena) about 2 months ago.

Now I would say probably around 80%-90% of the audience were British Indian (mostly Sikhs) but he does have a Pakistani following (older generation) as well and there was a minority of us decided to go (my dad is a big fan).

Anyway it was a fantastic show but during the middle of the show one of his fans in the audience demanded he sing a patriotic Indian song that apparently had anti Pakistan lyrics..
He replied he wouldn’t not just because he had a minority of Pakistani fans in the audience that may find it offensive but that also he wanted to bring Indians and Pakistanis together, especially in a hostile environment right now.

He got a massive cheer from the crowd for saying that but he gave us British Pakistanis such goosebumps because he thought of us even though we were a small minority in the crowd.

The point is this is what an Artist in any country should be doing - bring people together no matter what the differences are. Gurdas Maan what he did was a small gesture but will always live in the memory because he thought of the bigger picture and that takes courage and strength.

Whats democracy got to do here?

A democracy where you are constantly fed hatred and any kind of pro-Pakistani/peace spreading comment gets you under deep trouble is what you call a joke of a democracy. A fascist government behavior goes against the very concept of democracy. You fail to understand the meaning of it and what rights individuals hold. A nation which justifies constant army rule on a region for decades with countless human right violations shouldn't be giving lectures to other about democracy.

Sports and cultural activities should never be mixed with politics and diplomacy IMO, they bring people together. When will Indians get it? Pseudo-patriot channels (who often invite Pak guests to their shows) are poisoning the minds of public with hate and BJP is playing its card just for political mileage. This decision has been forced upon Diljit make no mistake, we all saw what happened to Mika recently. India turning into a fascist state, can't recognize this country each passing day.

A democracy is a place where people vote to get a leadership of their choice. The leadership reflects the peoples mandate and their will.

People of India voted for this leadership in overwhelming numbers and thats that. They voted as per their own choice and that choice didnot include peace with anyone who wishes to harm my country.

The people didnot vote to have separatists and terrorists go free.

A nation that was ruled by army for majority of its existence, denied a man the PM seat because he apparently spoke another language and the committed a genocide in its own territory, a nation that uses F16s Tanks Gunships on its people, a nation thats run a religious principle shouldnot lecture anyone on democracy, minority rights, secularism, human rights and basically anything.

Modi politics main objective was to make India Hindu again, populating Kashmir with Hindus is the main objective and here you are lecturing us about religion?

If you care about democracy then you would be listening to Kashmiris, not locking them up.

lol, this is getting predictably boring, try new tactics.

He's such a class act. Diljit thinks of him as a mentor, he should talk to him

Gurdaas Maan is a legend.
