guy has impressive performance in asia ,carrying srilankan batting for quite some time scored impressive hundred against pakistan and now against india....though his previous 162 against india was one of the best.
Contiue to score runs consistently though a failure in LOI.
i expect him to score 30 test hundreds.

Don't think he will finish as a test great but he can finish as a Lankan great. He played Ashwin and Jadeja really well. Also did well against Yasir in UAE. I have been really impressed with him in the last few months. Hope he can maintain this consistency.

if he scores 8k runs and 25 to 30 hundreds,,i will take it, though expecting more.

Don’t know why but I hate this guy for some reason

Guy is hardworker...and dedicated,,,u may not like him for his failure in Odi,,always scores heavily under pressure.Remmebr Umar akmal .shafiq and his comparison....lets conclude it now..guy is even ahead of shafiq.

He is Lanka's best. But his 162 is one of the luckiest innings i have ever seen.

Good test player bad limited overs player.. he is already the spine of Sri lankan test batting lineup.. but for gods sake don't get him to limited overs.:salute

Was given not out multiple times by neutral umpires, when he nicked them off the bat pad & also an edge IIRC, probably LBW as well. No DRS for India back then, this innings was relatively chanceless & should be rated higher.

Agreed and think SL selectors are keeping him as tests only as well now because he has been dropped from the ODI squad to play India following this test.

He has shown great improvement in the last 2 years. Has the ability to play big innings. He's better than Mathews at the moment.

Wowsers!

hes an excellent all round player as a keeper batsman, but sri lankan cricket is pbly even more mismanaged than paks. hes at his best when he play aggressive counter attacking knocks, but his s/r is sub 50. there seems to be very little positivity and aggression in sri lankas approach, and thats what made them a competitive team away, and a very strong one at home for a very long time.

on a side note i had a little look at the stats from the tournament, so many batsmen averaging 50+ sith 80+ s/r, makes u question the quality of the cricket, also makes u question why this kid hasnt played for sri lanka, absolutely mental record, 22 year old with 3500 runs at 65.. maybe some srilankan fan can shed light on whats going on

This guy has the ability to be a brilliant player. It's a shame he isn't living up to his ability.

Sri Lanka batter withdraws from Chattogram Test due to emergency

Dinesh Chandimal has withdrawn from the ongoing Chattogram Test against Bangladesh with immediate effect due to a 'family medical emergency’.

The Sri Lanka Cricket board put up a statement on social media about Dinesh Chandimal’s withdrawal before the start of Day 4 of the second Test against Bangladesh.

“Dinesh Chandimal has withdrawn from the team playing the 2nd Test match against Bangladesh with immediate effect due to a 'family medical emergency’.

“Accordingly, the player will return home immediately,” the statement said.

“Sri Lanka Cricket, his teammates, and the coaching staff fully support Dinesh Chandimal at this moment of need and request that the public respect his and his family's privacy.”

Chandimal made 59 in the first innings, contributing to his team’s strong total of 531. He was one of his team’s six batters to have scored a half-century during Sri Lanka's exceptional team total, a rare record.

Despite a mammoth first innings total, none of their batters made a century, making it the highest-ever total in a Test innings without a hundred.

The veteran batter’s absence won’t impact Sri Lanka’s prospects of a favourable result in Chattogram. The visitors on their second outing with the bat, declared on 157/7, thereby setting Bangladesh a challenging target of 511 runs on the fourth morning.

At lunch, Bangladesh were 31 for none with a daunting challenge ahead of them.

Sri Lanka are leading the two-match ICC World Test Championship series 1-0, having sealed a victory by 328 runs in Sylhet. Both teams are tied at No.6 on the current WTC25 standings with 12 points in three games and a points percentage of 33.33.

Century number 16 of his career today against New Zealand and his 6th in Galle.

What a knock this is so far.

Glad to see him back in form! A brilliant knock from Dinesh Chandimal as he walks back to the pavilion after scoring an outstanding 116 in the second Test against New Zealand
