We have been losing test and ODi matches under Sarafraz,But in UAE against NZ in such embarrassing way is beyond my imagination.I still cant think People still defending this tool as a captain.
HE and Inzi have been backing their buddies in the side with some selection blunders and the result is obvious.
But the mot important thing is that the new chairman PCB is clueless, and their is no media pressure to remove CS and captain and we have to see the same things happening for at least next 12 months.
I see us losing this series as well as white wash i Tests and odi in Sa tour and the story will continue.
Passionate fans like us deserve more happiness rather than this selfishness shown by Mr.Revolutionary and Mr.specialist captain.

And when your captain is averaging 26 with the bat as a captain but still people backing him .....

Next time i am not gonna spare them at least on pp.

The 2 main supporters are in hiding right now. Once we win some games against minnows they will tell us how great a captain he is.

Even our T20 run has nothing to do with his batting or keeping. :))

Yes i hope Sa smash us in t20 as well.

No I don't hope we lose. But Sarfraz has been exposed as a captain and player in tests and ODIs. In T20s we know he's a rubbish player already.
Mamoon was right. He knows how to hide himself from responsbillity.

I know Mamoon i very negative all the times and i have many differences but he is absolutely spot on about things like
Azhar ali,Sarfraz and Inzi .

Two fixes needed in Pakistan cricket:

1. Bringing an end to the seniority culture
2. Changing the timid, soft, small team mentality of this side

Until the heart of all decisions are on the basis of meritocracy which finally exceeds the toxic seniority culture in Pakistan cricket, the turmoil will be a prolonged one.

We have a 45 year old about to be picked up by a PSL franchise. A 38 year old with the worst record of an Asian batsman batting outside Asia opening the batting. A 37-38 year old number 5 batsman in ODIs who can't play pace to save his life. On paper a 31 year old captain who looks and has the physical capability of 41 year old Karachi Street Cricketer.

We should learn from a limited resourced cricket nation like NZ who have made the most of what they have and are undoubtedly make the best use of research and analytics than any other team.

All their selections are on merit and they know how to think from a critical perspective even when things are going well for e.g Axing Ross Taylor as captain because of his quiet demeanour. Now with Pakistan and fans alike this was considered to be unthinkable with Misbah after the embarrassment of drawing a series in Zimbabwe.

The other major aspect along with the seniority culture is changing the culture of Pakistan cricket. For years now I've seen an obedient, yes men type of culture but no one wants to lead by example and lead from the front. Even our best players like Babar, Azhar Ali, Shafiq and etc shy away from responsibility when they need to impose their presence. If we cast our minds back to the 2016 ODI series in England, Athers and Nasser described the ODI side as a "bunch of timid kittens". No opposition from the top 6 sides in the right frame of mind will be in awe or afraid of such a team when it showcases such mental frailties.

The players are mostly bland and boring, just like their cricket they lack that swagger - you may wonder what does this have to do with cricket? Well if you see Pakistan fans around the world they are becoming more interested in football and combat sports because they don't find any inspiration from the likes of Sarfraz, Misbah, Shafiq, Azhar Ali and etc. Even the likes of Ijaz Ahmed (let alone Wasim, Waqar, Shoaib Akhtar and etc) were far more charismatic and exciting to watch. I have Shaheen can reverse this trend but it is one player.

Also in relation to this we see the side time and time again showcase to the world what a small team mentality it has. I've seen some outrageous OTT celebrations of wickets in meaningless T20I bilaterals and in ODIs against such poor opposition even against tail enders. I mean is this the benchmark for satisfaction?

Truth of the matter this all began to become more prominent once Misbah was captain. He deserves full credit for uplifting Pakistan's reputation but by 2013 he was past his sell by date. His influence has turned the players soft, timid and one of a small team mentality. Cutting cake after every ton or 5fer epitomises this really.

NZ beat Pakistan in Sharjah in 2014 under Misbah as well. Pakistan lost to WI in UAE in 2016. Our quality of cricket is seriously poor and the first step towards rescuing this is to get out of UAE.

People go on and on about the steady leadership and calmness, responsibility and controversy free impact Misbah's leadership bought to Pakistan Cricket but we had the worst ODI record under him and we were strictly a UAE based team. Misbah strongly advocated and backed players to death who followed his boring, defensive brand of cricket i.e. Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq at the expense of flamboyant match winning players and we are seeing the consequences today.

Misbah was needed from 2010 to 2013. But once the team failed to win in Zimbabwe alarm bells should have been ringing. You have to remember at that point he was 39, so what was the need to play him on when we had superior bats like Fawad Alam to take his spot and a far better cricketing brain in Younis Khan to lead the side?

Azhar Ali in an interview for this site actually said that Misbah's aim was to reach 260 and leave Ajmal to do his "magic". Eventually he got found out and was horribly exposed during the last WC in Aus and humiliated by the Channel 9 commentary team for such atrocious captaincy during the test series there as well.

The worst thing he did in ODIs was ironically after his ODI career had finished when he was given a responsibility of picking the next captain. Of all the players he could pick, he went for Azhar Ali who couldn't make the team on merit and was just as woeful as him.

Misbah held a ultra defensive mindset as a captain on the field and with the batsmen he would select as you rightly pointed out. I'm not saying Umar Akmal would have had a successful test career but Misbah played a big part in ruining his confidence. The guy played virtually every test outside Asia (with only 1 in UAE) and still managed to average 35-36 at a very good SR (65-66) but decided to drop him in favour of Shafiq who has been a failed investment. This is because he on the other hand averages under 40 even though he has played half of his games on the desert graveyard for bowlers.

So yes we are seeing the consequences. Everyone will wake up to all of this one day, whether it will be 2019 WC, 2020 WT20 or 2023 WC or after the next few test series coming up.

Oh dear! Too much of wrist slitting going on here. Yes they lost the test , but it was by 4 runs. The kiwis were damn lucky. I still think this is a formidable test team especially with Babar starting to find his feet. All Pak needs is a capable spin partner for Yasir and they are back on track. Bilal has been mediocre apart from that fifer against Aussies.

I hope Sarfaraz can get that luck and win test like this but will never happen.

Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq has been the worst investment ever which shows Misbah visionary thinking process
