Disappointed with Sarfaraz Ahmed's batting strategy with the tail-enders

no specialist batsman would have taken that single.. such players shouldn't be in the team bcoz they don't believe themselves..

Whatever those tailenders did was a bonus. Match was over when senior 'tallunt' Shoaib Malik, Hafeez and Imam gave their wickets away in soft dismissals.

I really enjoyed when Maxwell ran him out. He fully deserved that humiliation for exposing a number 11 to a full over instead of taking responsibility. He is so pathetic he plays second-fiddle to tail-enders. He has no shame.

It's not faulty strategy, rather limitation. Today Hasan & Wahab connected few, so the game went long and Sarfraz actually did the right thing - hung on to one end as long as the slog was working and made sure that a partnership is built. They actually reduced the asking to a manageable level, but Strac's couple of brutal balls ended the hope. Finch made a blunder of keeping one loose over, most likely to be bowled on 48th over - had Wahab survived till then, PAK had a genuine shot at 308, but he got out on DRS, and Amir didn't allow Sarfraz to shed him.

Don't think it's poor tactics, rather he is just not good enough. His game suits perfectly for No. 4-5, and the few months that his ODI career left, he should bat there, do the same thing. If he tries to blast, it'll backfire almost always.

Exactly, this not cowardice or lack of awareness just that he isn't good enough as a batsman, there was nothing really he could have done after Wahab fell.

Shameless cricketer. He is the reason behind our loss. First he was hiding behind our tailenders and then instead of protecting shaheeen he exposed him.

People blaming Sarfraz dont understand cricket you can criticize his captaincy in the last game but not batting he saved you from humiliation of lost by 120 runs

Hassan and Wahab saved us from that humiliation. He was behind behind them like a coward.

In the last ball of Starc's 9th over, Shaheen Shah Afridi was on strike and he took a single to keep strike for the next over.

I know the match was already lost by that point, but that is just stupid from Sarfaraz. Even gully cricketers would have enough game sense to refuse the single from the non-striker's end and keep strike for the next over if you're the stronger batter.

Some of the decisions he made were just atrocious.
Place asif ali in slips
Chase against Aus with lower middle order made up of tailenders like malik asif and himself
Exposing shaheen at the last

I think sarfaraz batted well with hasan and wahab especially the way wahab batted. The obly talking point that can be discussed is that maybe sarfaraz could have been clever playing agaisnt starc and shield wahab for the remaining overs as wahab is only a tailender and it was too risky to trust him in playing against starc and cummins. Just like they played through cummins, sarfi should have guarded wahab against starc and maybe let him off guard agaisnt thr likes of richardson and coulternile. Dont forget therr was one over from a spinner too. But in general sarfi and wahab rotated the strike well. If anyone is too blame then its the top 6 of which 3 batsmen made starts but couldnt convert while fakhar..asif and malik are hacks and a passenger respextively

I think with shadab not playing he had babar azam fielding at his position

Agreed to a point. But i think i would be more ****** on the fact that he had given up by then. Not necessarily a coward and not the reason for our loss. You want to blame, then blame babar, hafeez and imam for not converting their starts to big scores. Blame asif for dropping dollies. Blame malik for his lacklustee attitude. Just because sarfaraz didnt keep strike with the 11th batsman does not contribute as the sole reason for pak's loss

Did you enjoy when king malik was out for a duck.. did you enjoy when asif dropped dollies..did you enjoy whrn imam went out on **** ball given the fact that imam didnt play a single risky shot before his fifty and threw away his wicket after reaching his personal milestone. Did you enjoy hafeez's half hearted shot on a full toss. The only thing you enjoyed was sarfaraz gettig run out. I understand the flack he has been receiving and yea agreed he could have shielded wahab against the likes of starc but just to assume that sarfaraz has to be pinned for this blame is wrong. Just because he isnt your english speaking cool looking dude doesnt make him responsible for this loss. There were other factors that led to this defeat.

Sarfraz was a coward for giving up. He should have waited for Maxwell over

Match was over when Amir got out but he needs to called out for that single.

Sarfraz dropped Shadab for Shaheen, he kept Asif as a first slip catcher, he put Hafeez on when Maxwell was batting and he dropped Imad for Shoaib Malik.

Sarfraz does deserve a lot of blame

There is a difference between failing to perform and being a coward. I would rather have a player get a golden duck than do what Sarfaraz did yesterday.

He is the only batsman (if we can call him one) and the only captain, who will let his number 11 take a single off the last ball of the over, when the team needs 42 in 30 balls.

He had no confidence in his abilities and he didn’t back himself to score 10-15 runs of the next over and give Pakistan a fighting chance.

This heartless cricketer threw in the towel when Wahab and Amir were dismissed in the same over, and he allowed Shaheen to face a full over instead of taking control of the situation because he had given up.

He knew they had lost the match because he has no ability to produce a couple of big overs on his own, so by letting Shaheen take the strike, his intention was to protect his wicket and remain not out.

That is why I couldn’t have been happier to see him get run out by Maxwell in embarrassing fashion. It was instant karma at its best. His cowardly tactic blew in his face.

He played an absolutely nothing inning yesterday. He played second-fiddle to tail-enders like Wahab and Hasan who happened to have a good day with the bat and collectively added over 70 runs.

Had they been dismissed cheaply, we would have lost the game by over 100 runs because Sarfaraz does not have the ability or the courage to take charge of a situation like that.

He did the same thing against Sri Lanka in the Champions Trophy, where he was melting like candle under pressure and giving catching practice to Perera, while Amir on the other hand was batting with composure and confidence.

Sarfraz is a poor keeper, a mediocre batsman, an ordinary tactician and a weak leader. There is also no way he just turned 32 a couple of weeks ago.

He needs to booted out for multiple reasons, but there is no way back after the cowardice that he showed yesterday.

Finally some sense. This was an utterly coward knock and pathetic knock. He should have taken control of the game when Starc came back for his final burst. Should not have made Wahab face him too much. Also RR was under 8 and with Maxwell one over to go we had a strong chance. Sarfraz is the biggest coward I have seen.

Sarfraz dropped Finch as well. He is not only a coward batsman but a mediocre keeper as well.

Bhai Sarfraz is a selfish cricketer who wanted to go as not out so people who worship him would praise his non existent fighting attitude.

Sarfraz's pathetic inning did not surprise me one bit. He is a very limited batsman with non-existent hitting ability. To finish games, you need to hit boundaries which Sarfraz is not capable of. He knows his limitations which is why he was content with letting Hassan and Wahab do all the heavy lifting. This is quite shameful for a batsman who bats in the top 5 to rely on tailenders for winning the game.

Him getting run-out was poetic justice. It was a win-win situation for him. Had he remained not-out and Pakistan lost, the blame would fall on other batsmen. If he remained not-out and Pakistan won, he would take credit of the hard work done by the tailenders just like he did against Sri Lanka in the Champions Trophy.

More than his batting ability, which is average by the way, his supposed intelligence was exposed. most of his fans say he is a street smart cricketer. he clearly is not. Street smart cricketers instinctively know how to play with tailenders. those who have played any street cricket will know how to manipulate the strike when you have a poor player other end, which happens all the time. Street smart cricketers also know how to control the game when they are in the middle. Best examples are Dhoni, Ranatunga, Steve waugh, etc. those are players who are short on talent but have enough intelligence to know how to make most of a given situation. Sarfaraz looked clueless, lost and completely out of control. The match was there to be won even with poor middle order performance

People shouldn't forget how this legend lost us an ODI against Eng from similar position. 30 from 3 and he didn't even try to hit boundaries. He is either coward or bottler you decide.

Street smart? Lol. He would have been out to Maxwell if kerry didn't miss his stumpings when he tried to be street smart cricketer.

He batted poorly with the tail and to get run out is inexcusable to be honest. At that point, all Pak needed was a run a ball and with the odd boundary, even less.

coward batting in my opinion.

If the tailenders were playing the shots he should have tried to do the same play fire with fire. Either way we gona loose aneway.

MS DHoni would have never taken that single. He would have got the bowlers bh the ears and thrown him into the stand aswell as the corky ball. our captain is a pussycat.

Sarfaraz is incapable of thinking on his feet. A key prerequisite for being a good captain.

Anyone defending Sarfaraz for what he did yesterday is either doing it on purpose or needs a mental exam.

Even the most neutral of neutral people can figure out what he did was absolutely next level shocking. And below what he already done by not appealing for the run out against Curran.

He is a gift to Pakistan that keeps on giving.
