Enough is enough. A cricket crazy country with 250 million people! is being embarrassed non stop. Azam Khan is the symbol of this pathetic team, making ducks for fun and dropping easy catches.

The Pak cricket team has become a bunch of tourists. They are unfit/overweight and lack real quality, except a couple of players. Led by Captain fantastic it seems like a group of friends enjoying a free holiday. They eat the most unhealthy food and are just chilling/socialising with local authorities who invite them. Or you see them shopping around malls.

Its seriously embarrassing to see how they carry themselves. Serious lack of role models in Pakistan have made them paper/fake superstars which they think they really are. I mean what has Babar actually ever won for Pak (major trophy ICC or series vs SENA/India) to act like some super star?

At some point you need to be realistic and start all over again. With this bunch more embarrassments are waiting to happen.

The rebuild is long overdue but where do we start?

Is the cupboard that bare?

I think we should focus on only under genuine 22 year olds and keep cycling through them with long runs until we find more players. This could take 6 years but we will get there.

But are there deeper structural issues? Probably, how do we fix that?

Our openers are slower than tortoises
Babar how ever has made a progress this year

we cant rely on usman and fakhar every single game

Which genius setup a Middle order of, you need proper batsmen at 5 6 and 7 not bits and pieces

Shadab
Azam
Iftikhar

Keep your expectations lower. Pakistan is a mid table team. They're not on the level of England or Australia but they're not on the level of Bangladesh either.

Too many cooks in the kitchen.

You need to implement a structure with qualified personal as well as instilling the right culture & mentality.

Pakistan cricket need to address the mediocrity in the board, team & players. But don't forget, politics & sports don't mix & usually end with heartbreak & tears. Finally, the media has too much sway into the PCB. Keeping it quiet will be extremely difficult.

Pakistan getting exposed against better teams. India, Australia, England, New Zealand and South Africa are all better than us. Windies are dangerous in white ball cricket. We often get badly beaten by them in ICC events. Good that Windies or Afghanistan is not in our group.

Batting is just not up to the mark. 180 plus is the benchmark for most good teams these days.

England are the defending champions and they are surely one of the main contenders again. Their batting was always good. Bowling looks stronger with the return of Archer.

Pakistan is in a relatively easy group in the World Cup. Windies pitches are usu on the slower side favouring spin bowlers but Pakistan is playing most of its games in USA. Nobody knows for sure how pitches will behave there. Ireland would fancy their chances against us (they beat us in the first game in the recent series) esp. if Pak lose badly against India. Forget about finishing in the top 4, We might not even qualify for super8 from our group!! There is a serious chance of that happening

Any country that has Amir, Shadab, & Azam Khan deserve to be humiliated nonstop.

Pakistan as a country, & PCB in particular, is a unserious country, so the cricket planning & strategy culture will reflect this unserious approach.

Pakistan is really in the class of Ireland and Bangladesh. This team is lucky not to be in the same table as Afghanistan, else they would have been decimated again as we saw in the ODI WC in India last year.

No it is not. Our acc emerging cup team smacks this team 5-0 and none of those guys besides saim are even Kakul representatives.

Most of the boys playing president Cup are a million times > Shadab, Chacha, Nawaz and these frauds.

I've given dozens of replacements from the domestic circuit already.

This cupboard bare is either claimed by those who haven't watched domestic or by those trying to protect Bobby and rizzu.

Shadab has like 3 replacements lol, Salman agha, Qasim akram, Mubashir khan. All players with test class experience and proper batters who can bowl spin. They aren't tail enders pretending to be no 5's nor are they throwing dollies

Jee abh samaj ai why I was saying imad's 5 fer against Ireland is goated?

Lmao at those telling me they'll only acknowledge imad when he takes a 5 fer against england. Apni team ka bhoota dekha hai?

Get rid of all the selectors.

Make the coach the chief selector, only if he’s foreign to avoid nepotism.

Take away player power. Our players seem to think they can decide when they want to play, which positions they want to play, when they want to train and how they want to train etc. There should only be one boss, the coach. He decides everything you do and say.

Remove the bits and pieces players, we’ve got quite a few.

It took all of them to come up with this PSL squad. They must have watched some PSL highlights, looked at a few stats and a few parchis, job done. :ROFLMAO:

Surely can’t be taken seriously as an international side again until they replace Azam Khan. He has the look of someone who won a competition to play for Pakistan.

Just listen to what Vaughan said about the team. You cant drop lower then that.
Vaughan's a wet wipe who's always been anti-Pak, couldn't care less what he says. Just a shame the team isn't bothered either to ram the words down his throat. They'll be to busy stuffing their mouths with cake right now.

lol what do they mean “one passion?” There’s minus zero passion in this team and in the PCB 😂

In few years we would be seriously competing with Ireland and Bangladesh in T20s. I don’t see any world class player coming up.

Most that do make it fizzle out after 2 years and either get dropped or becomes a TTF with the right connections that keeps getting selected.

What is the U19 and below scene? Any potential world class player? If there isn't it could take us 10 years before we find anyone.

Ifti is a classic example, not managed to find younger version that can do his role.

We don't even have a young Stokes, fast bowling tall AR after all these years.

Corruption , corruption and corruption , no corruption is bigger than putting a very fat man with zero performance as the first choice WK and the middle order batter of a team from 250 million people. Selecting Chacha and Shadaf after their long h/o failure represent the same corrupt set up. Naqvi himself is appointed by the most corrupt people.

Azhar has played at the oval for 8 years and coached there with the oval invincible - the bowlers were clueless and so was the field placement!

Mohammed yousaf and azhar should never be part of the coaching staff…

That was bloody embarrassing!

Wasim jnr, zaman khan, amaar Jamal, salman Ali agha should be part of the squad they are the future!

You call that a future? They are all club grade.
Well might as well desolve the pcb and cricket because if Azam khan and amir is the future then what’s the point - imad can’t play two games without breaking down and not to forget iftikhar who’s our finisher…..

You have to develop players and if thats what’s available then so be it unless you got players hiding under your bed…

I am saying we go younger. 22 years old max or under and cycle through for long periods until we unearth new talent.

But we have to be picky and cannot deviate.

Fast bowler - height over 5'11, pace over 140k, no dibbly dobbly or skiddy. A traditional fast bowler.

Middle order batter - genuine technique, playing cricket since he was 8, IQ above 110, able to play long innings with a high SR. No hacks or mid 20s construction workers turned pro.

Fast bowling AR - 5'11 and over, strong, 140k+ pace, 30+ batting average with high SR.

We have been too loose with our filter because of desperation probably and it's a complete waste of time because you just end up producing a 28 year old TTF.

We have been advising you for 3 years. This “Babar and friends” show is not the solution.

They keep proving the point, but people do not listen.

There are still people who will defend this nonsense as if their lives depends on this.

We are playing openers in the middle order and middle order as openers. And then you ask “oh why is our middle order so bad”.

You try giving good advice, but some people just do not like good advice.

Players like Shadab Khan, Hasan Ali, Fakhar Zaman, Babar Azam, Imad Wasim were a breath of fresh air during the 2017 CT after enduring the mediocrity of Misbah's reign from 2011 to 2017.

Now today the likes of Shadab, Haris Rauf, Amir, Azam Khan are mediocre. The group of players in the squad are just old and devoid of any fresh energy and hunger to deliver.

Definately need new blood once this T-20 WC is over.

One again I'm suggesting this sqaud to shut people up for claiming we have no one else just to propel Bobby and rizzu propaganda.

Openers

1) Fakhar Zaman
2) Shabzada Farhan
3) Sharjeel Khan
4) Abdullah Shafiq

Middle order

1) Muhammad Haris (WK)
2) Saud Shakeel
3) Tayyab Tahir
4) Salman Ali Agha
5) Imad Wasim

Spinners

1) Zafar Gohar
2) Abrar Ahmed

Pacers

1) Mohammad Ali
2) Shaheen Shah Afridi (Gotta back him)
3) Mir Hamza (Gotta back him to transitory his red ball form to white-ball and t20)
4) Arshad Iqbal (Again Gotta back him)

Reserves

1) Usman Tariq
2) Sarfraz Ahmed as backup keeper.

Kei kei thak gya hoon that azam, Chacha, Shadab are the biggest frauds and the weakest lower order Pakistan has ever had. With naseem being a gone case and rizzu being a fraud opener.

Babar is not a t20 player, Fakhar is not a no 4 and saim is not international material and neither is usman Khan.

This is what happens when you choose a nepotsitic team and a dosti yaari team and have a captain trained by Misbah

Quite possibly one of the worst performances I've seen from our team in a long long while.

Ok - I can totally understand why Rizwan and Babar opened today. More often than not they'll give a solid start (not a quick start...just a solid start). BUT I think given that we were asked to bat first it was a real defensive move and one which exposed our weak middle order. Dont get me wrong...it was really good to see Babar play with a bit more freedom once he got going, however I just think it set the wrong tone overall.

I think Fakhar felt the pressure today... he was very frenetic and it just shows how mis managed he is being.

We should have opened with Fakhar & Babar.. Especially on that ground. That is your attacking experienced start. How are we missing this trick???

Usman was excellent today. What a joy to see someone finally come from the PSL and play well against a good opposition early on in their international career. I wasnt sure about him before but now he's the number 3 we need. Positive, hits a long ball and is good under pressure.

I can understand why Shadab is at 5 when I consider the type of innings he is able to play and has done at times in the past. But its he is really the best we have there? For his part i thought he had a decent game with the ball, probably the best he had bowled in a while at times. But he's not a number 5 bat.

Chacha. Another failure again. Its a strange thing because there's something about him that I enjoy as a cricketer. His bowling is decent and that adds a good dimension to his play. The problem is that he is not good enough. He's fine when things are going well. But they're not. I can't figure out why Babar isn't bowling him? Is Babar's captaincy THAT bad? He should have bowled in tandem with Shadab for an over or 2...that was the ideal time. But why wasn't he? Although he's not brilliant i think he's being too low.

SSA? Number 8? Really?

Naseem looked understandably under cooked and Amir struggled. However Amir makes it into my team more times than not with his experience.

Now... I've purposely kept away from mentioning Azam Khan. On what planet does Gary Kristen agree that this guy belongs in the team confuses me. He can't field. He can't keep. He can't bat. And yet he is forcing us to waste the skills of one of the best T20 keepers in int cricket at the moment. Pak is the only team who can take a keeper of the standard of Rizwan and replace him behind the stumps by someone like Azam Khan.

I think we missed a trick in this game. I would have kept Saim in the side and pushed him down the order. Give him a bit more freedom and see how he went. We invested so much in this lad it made no sense just to jettison him this close to the tournament

Our starting 11 today should have been

Fakhar
Babar
Usman
Rizwan (wk)
Saim
Chacha
Shadab
Naseem
Rauf
SSA
Amir

Now that is not my ideal starting 11....just the 11 I would have liked to have seen today. Obviously Imad walks into the team but was rested with his niggle.

As much as this was a warm up game of sorts it was an international series. We have a tendancy to be England's whipping boys and it was just a shambles. We deserve more.

I think the game was lost at the toss. We can't do anything about the squad that has been selected. It's possibly one of our worst T20 squads ever. However I hope that they do some work with the boys around their mental conditioning which is a important as the physical.

We are so used to hearing about how dangerous Pakistan can be on their day. Mercurial Pakistan. That's what we all grew up hearing right? We don't hear that anymore because we're not.

Sincerely hope we don't get too embarrassed at this tournament and have a big clear out of players after. We desperately need a reset and I hope Kirsten is the person who delivers that.

Dismantle and do what?

Pakistan has zero talent. The least talented cricket nation in the world with zero talent, skill and cricket IQ.

Players, fans, coaches, media etc. none of the stakeholders in Pakistan cricket know anything about cricket. They are all intellectually bankrupt.

As I have been saying for years, Pakistani fans need to lower their expectations and accept their status as a small team.

Not every sporting team is meant to be successful, but they are still loved & supported by their fans. Pakistan haven’t got what it takes and it never will. It wasn’t meant to be a successful cricket nation.

Dismantling this lot will not help because the next lot will be equally poor if not worse and this cycle will continue. The young hopes of today are the tried and tested failures of tomorrow. That is the bitter truth.

When you only have 3-4 quality players in the entire country you should not expect or demand success.

The problem is the Pakistani cricket team is too lovey dovey - did you see Englands ruthless attitude - did you see any of their players show any friendliness towards the opposition or even their own players - ruthless

Our players are a bunch of khusrah with Baber being king khusrah probably why’s he not married and it’s also because we have alot of kpk players in the squad - they also tend to be ghandu’s….
Ha ha ha. Really??

Pakistan should look to maximise what they have.

Not make plans for imaginary, non existent talent.

These are pretty much the best performing batsmen in the PSL also.

The likes of Saud Shakeel will get exposed brutally in the middle order. No point harping about these random names.

There was a case for maybe Aamer Jamal ahead of a pacer but otherwise this is pretty much the best XV possible.

PAK have to pick one of Saim/Azam, so you are probably better off selecting Saim since he's also a gun fielder and can bowl as well. And they need to drop Shadab and play Abrar. Also, only one of Aamir, Naseem and Abbas can play. Naseem has bowled utter crap - so, its just between Aamir and Abbas.

Babar
Rizwan
Usman
Fakhar
Saim
Imad
Iftikhar
Abrar
Shaheen
Rauf
Aamir

The order can be tweaked but this pretty much the best XI you can come up with. Just come up with plans to get the best out of this lineup and pray..

That would be if he had lost series against Ireland. Like Bangladesh did against USA.

No need to exaggerate the team to top or bottom.
We just about to won the series vs Ireland, there were atleast 3-4 dropped catches. Had those not been dropped it would have been 2-1 to Ireland

Drew with newzealand team who had more than half of the players missing.

Yet you think we are a mid table team.

This is the delusion we have, thinking PSL is some top level league

PSL and the players have been exposed

Azam khan the best wicket keeper and a power hitter in PSL can't buy single digit runs at international level

This is the delusion we have, thinking PSL is some top level league

PSL is a D grade tournament. It is now proven that they can't use PSL as a baseline for judging ability.

The selectors are obviously not doing their jobs either, they need to be looking far and wide deeper into the domestic circuit to find fresh talent with a good eye but we all know they are lazy and just watch some PSL highlights and go off that.

Pakistani posters , foreign cricketers etc
have all said that PSL has the highest standard for bowling among leagues.

So it stands to reason that the best PSL batters are the best batters in Pakistan ? :inti

Saim and Azm Khan are league bullies. So far, both of them failed to live up to the expectations people had of them. 21-22 games for saim and still struggling to score some runs?

How many chances were given to top domestic performers like Farhan or Tayyab Tahir who got dropped without playing single games like Tayyab.

Don't even wanna talk about Azam khan, he is just a walking wicket atm, drops catches and has nothing to show as a player.

I think Pakistan fans are over reacting. England are current world champions so please acknowledge the talent they have in their team. Alex Hales, Jason Roy are discarded despite playing well because Jacks, Salt are available. Pace duo of Archer, Wood, spin duo of Rasheed, Moeen, allrounder Sam curran and explosive batting lineup of Butler n co. This team is favorite on paper.

You have seen the standards of bowling with your own eyes in last few months

For a solid batsmen and bowlers the foundation has always been FC, you name any top bowler or batsmen from International cricket and will finds tons of FC experience, players coming out of nowhere playing few fancy shots in psl or taking tail ender wickets amd then being selected for international is just a joke

Once you remove Rizwan as an opener…

90% of your problems will be solved automatically

Most of the new players coming up across the world are limiting how much FC they play.

They are being selected for T20 so T20 must be the basis for why they are in the team.

This is the only format we have a chance in to compete. I think rather than forcing players to play FC we should just let them play as many leagues around the world. Perhaps being exposed to more modern T20 thinking will trickle back into our game.

Leagues like CPL and LPL are not going to do anything then need to play IPL which is not possible.

FC will train them to value their wicket and stick at the crease as well as developing.

Maybe young cricketers don't really desire to play test cricket and International cricket in general. They are more inclined to be T20 mercenary like Pollard, Bravo etc. Travel, play T20 leagues, party and earn good money along the way.

Azam and Saim Ayub clearly seem happy playing t20 leagues. Why force them to play international cricket if they don't have the desire?

Bro its not like FC they will be batting against Glen mcgrath. They will just tuk tuk their way to scores and we will have another generation of Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq type of players.

IPL isn't possible but BBL, English T20, 100, UAEPL are on the cards. These leagues are high octane and have professional strategists and coaches.

We say this every year.

Nothing will happen. Status quo will be preserved to the benefit of all who benefit from this.

Besides Big bash league, no league is top level.

Ipl doesn't build Indian players, the ranji trophy does. IpL is an entertainment league, its mostly used to discover combinations and bring people who were performing in ranji trophy infront of selector spotlight and have them gain experience by interacting with international players.

Agreed.

A batter with a strong List A record season on season and a good technique, someone who can play a long innings with a high SR is more valuable than a one off PSL stand out performer.

A good batter would be able to compress their innings to a T20 format.

It's just lazy selectors. I never expect anything good from our ex cricketers.

You can tell none of these selectors watch the games or understand things like techniques or footwork.

Their random selections from psl scorecards.

To rebuild something we need raw material. I don't see that anywhere in the country or perhaps it is not given the chance. We have had many new faces in the side who when given the chance don't perform. That a completely unfit and overweight player like Azam is now a regular shows the state of Pak Cricket.

What makes BBL a top level league?

It’s a myth, mainly borne out of the desi/pakistani inferiority complex where they are overly impressed with anything that has anything to do with Australian cricket.

How good or bad a T20 league is entirely depends on the quality of overseas players that it can acquire.

Because of this, IPL is far ahead of every league around the world because it is the only league where 99% of the best active players in the world play.

After IPL, all of these leagues are roughly at the same level.

BBL’s fielding is good, but you would expect that from Australian domestic players, but the standard of fielding in BBL is no better than that of the South African T20 league or NZ T20 league, and there is nothing about the pool of players in BBL that makes it a top level T20 league.

Agree with what you're saying but then one must also address the institutions (e.g., junior, club, and domestic cricket set-ups). Otherwise, finding a middle-order batter who's been playing since he was 8 and has proper technique and an IQ or 110 isn't happening in Pakistan, particularly where most of them are raised with tape ball cricket or only T20s.

We always say before every ICC event that PCB will do this, will do that, "AFTER" the event is done but nothing happens. The most they can do is remove the captain and that is it. There is no real change we have seen in this team and no drastic change comes until a guy like Hafeez retires so it becomes mandatory to bring in a new guy Otherwise it is just the same old thing that we have been looking at for 2 decades I guess.

LOL even I did not expect this.
Some one please arrange tickets and bring this bunch of tourists back home!

Cancel the rest of their games and award walkovers to the other teams
It will give them more time to pursue their true passion of touring burger and pizza spots in the US

This all started with wasim khan and imran khan when they destroyed pakistan domestic cricket which has never recovered after the Australian system alongwith sub standard pitches

The fruits are there now

This is not 1 or 2 things. This has been ongoing for a very long time. The system and players have a pathetic mindset.
