What's new

Do fans miss the Pakistan versus India Test series?

Did i ever said that we will beat xyz and it wont be competitive?

For a team not winning any icc trophies in last 10 years, be it test, odi or t20, its better to humble down.

Last time in 2017 same dumb comments were made giving examples of the group match and what not. Yet what happened in the final was so bad that till this day Indian couldn't take revenge for it.

Like I said, after what happened in Anay dou and 2017 or not having won an ICC trophy in the 10 years, humble down.

You and what bowling attack will be competitive against India in a Test series?

Your spinners cant spin the ball, pacers can't bowl 15 overs a day without getting injured or with much accuracy, those who can are 80 mph trundlers like Mir Hamza etc.

It's an awful attack that has not won a single Test match at home for Pakistan in 3 years.

I don't think it's going to be anywhere close to competitive.

again this is a conversation that can take place with an England/Australian/NZ/SA/Sri Lanka/WI/Ireland/ etc supporter.

A team who has not played us in the last 16 yeas cant go around saying that oh it wont be competitive. Like even before writing such a sentence plz take a look back at Anay dou series and 2017 Champions trophy final.

Same statements were made.

You seem to be hell bent on identifying us as uncompetitive yet seems to have your pants down whenever there is a finale with any team.

Based on the logic you used, it is safe to say that when India reaches the final, the other team should be declared champions because India doesnt win finals as it has not done so in the last 10 years?

The floor is yours.

Go ahead and claim that. I have no issues with that. India haven't won in 10 years. In fact, you have already made that claim multiple times.

But what is more obvious that Pakistan have not won a single Test at home since 2021.

A 5 match Test series between these 2 sides in India will be a straight 5-0 for India.

If it's in Pakistan , it could 2-0 or 3-0 because a couple of pitches are bound to be absolute roads to allow Babar to score a few runs

PAK won't win a single Test against India currently.

India has never won a 5 match test series 5-0. Its better to atleast know about your history before making big claims.

No point arguing with someone who doesnt even know his own history, it was nice schooling you though.

Why stop at 6-0? 7-0 sounds much better. Kehne mein kaya jata hai lol
As non-Indian i feel they have the firepower over Pakistan, it saddens me to say that. Im hopeful the next, next gen will hopefully turn it around 🤞

India beats Pakistan 5-0, India vs Australia is the rivalry that everyone should be looking out for.

No doubt about that, I wholeheartedly agree! It would be nice if both countries work together to improve their relations and don't mix sports with politics.

Won't happen.

Biggest issue with Pakistan has always been that its neighbours have been hostile except for China.

But China has never been a team player.

bhai, first try to defeat us in an odi series. COuldnt even do that and still try to dream big
We trashed you black and blue the last time we played an odi series in pak and we crush you whenever we play you 90℅ of the times.

And what do icc white ball events have to do with a test series lol, matlab kuch toh socha. Pakistan are a horrendous team who can't even win at home and anything less than a whitewash would be a disappointment.

One fluke trophy means nothing, we haven't played a series against zimbabwe in forever and there's little difference between pak and zim today

Yeah, why not?

Pakistan vs India is one of the few rivalries that can never be forgotten. Loved those bilateral series home and away. Peak cricket and was fun to watch.

Of course I miss the test action between the two sides. I only vividly remember the 2007 one, I must have been around 13 at the time. Watching it on my little box of a tv. Seems like a long time ago when I reflect back.

The crowd back then was unbelievable and felt like I was watching a World Cup final between Argentina and Brazil.

I do wonder how we ended up where we are - as years go by you expect things to progress instead things are worse now then they would have been during the prime years of when our fathers and grandparents watched the two sides. Sad.

I had the privilege of watching both the odi series and test matches live in Pakistan, in 2006. It was a magical experience, with Indian fans visiting Pakistan in droves. Gosh, what a match that was with Asif bamboozling the Indian team in Karachi. It would be great if the teams played again, but sadly our team just doesn’t have the panache that those past Pakistan teams had.

Last 12 ODIs,

9-2 to India with 1 No Result .

And that's in a format you were supposedly #1 not too long ago.

In Tests , the gap between IND and PAK is greater than PAK and BD. The ICC rankings is your guide

This thread was about resumption of a test series between India and Pakistan and has devolved into needless banter about head to head records.

I don't witness much of a clamour or call for a test series with Pakistan in India. The Indian cricket calendar is way too full year round against a lot of high quality opposition that fans don't really care - purely in cricketing terms.

If Pakistan were a top dog team in tests/ODIs, maybe there would be a lot of speculation among the fans but that's far from the case.

If there is any intrigue it's mostly about individual players like Babar etc and how they'd fare against India. Since they flop most of the time when they face-off in Asia Cup or WC, even that curiosity is now subsided.

The last series we won.

Fluke. Umm ok, you have been reachig the finals for ten years maybe win atleast one trophy by fluke. Cant even do that

Right there isnt much difference bet pakistan and zimbabwe, yet we won an icc trophy in the last ten years while you won non.

Hum zimbabwe he sahi, atleast we hold a title in icc cricket tournament

No, it'll be a boring one-sided series with a lot of cringe-worthy camaraderie and bhai-bhai'ness! In between all the talk of peace, friendship, common cultures nonsense, cricket will simply be a backdrop, the series will be a white-wash and no one will notice. The status quo works just fine. At least in the rare limited overs games, especially T20s it's a fight.

India won the 1983 WC and the 1985 B&H tournament, while West Indies and Pakistan won no ICC tournament in the 1980's. That's how valuable your argument is.

There's a difference between tests series and white ball tournaments genius

That test was an exception, the 1st 2 tests of that series were boring draws on roads, same goes for 2007 and even in 2004 every match was one sided.

Everyone piled runs on those pitches
Yeah the odi series were great but there were some thrilling test matches as well, maybe I just keep thinking of that Karachi test in 2006.

Its better to understand the context.

Lol going back to the 80s to discuss Indias superiority lolll

As a Kiwi I would love to watch India play Pakistan in Tests, What was the reason you guys stopped playing Tests against each other? Does it have anything to do with the IPL?
I feel sorry for the genuine fans of both sides, not playing Test against your biggest opponent? In NZ this Year when Aussie came for the 2 Test matches (which were sold out) there was great exitement, no one cared about the 3 t20s leading up to the series.

Surely in this day and age can we get past political BS

On a side note, should'nt NZ and Pakistan play 3 Tests a year, every year swaping the hosts every series? We both dont play enough Tests compared to the big 3.

Would help NZ in Asian conditions and help Pakistan on faster bouncier conditions (The 2 Tests vs Aussie in NZ the first pitch was faster and bouncier than any Aussie surface)

Plus as a Williamson fan, its sad he wont be able to challenge any run or 100 records, he is the fastest to 32 Test tons, if he played for Aussie or England how could challenge a lot of records (especially playing on Auzzy wickets)

genius you are the one who is juggling between two formats and losing both arguments
Weren't you the one who made a thread saying that Asia Cups were essentially bilateral series between India and Pakistan?

So last 2 ODI Asia Cups were won by India .

It's another matter that PAK were not good enough to make either final but still.

whatever rocks your boat.
When you get hold of a ICC trophy, than come talk to us. For now keep looking for things to brag about.

Test cricket is boring. If these arch rivals want to play a series then ODIs and T20I format would be a much better option.

Currently where things stand Pakistan have zero chance against India.

This isn't 1992-2011 where India vs Pakistan was about indian batting vs pakistan bowling.

Currently India outclasses Pakistan in every aspect be it bowling, fielding, batting and even captaincy.

2021 and 2022 Indian team was riddled with injuries.

Last time Pakistan beat a full strength Indian team was in 2017, however

2017 Pakistan >>>>>>>>>>>> 2023-2024 Pakistan its not even close.

Meanwhile

2023-2024 India >>>>>>>>>>>> 2017 India.

India evolved forward while Pakistan evolved backwards.

India Pakistan -ODI results since 2013 CT

CT 2013 - India won by 8 wkts
Asia cup 2014 - India lost by just 1 wkt 9 Afridid just about managed to get 2sixes in last over)
2015 WC Adelaide : India won by 76 runs
2017 CT league game : India won by 124 runs
2017 CT final : India lost by 180 runs (An anamoly if you look at results below and above)
2018 Asia cup (Dubai) : India won by 8 wkts (in 40th over)
2018 Asia cup (Dubai) : India won by 9 wkts ( in 40th over)
2019 WC (Manchester) : India won by 89 runs ( game result was obvious by 25th over)
2023 Asia Cup( SL) : Rain ..... no result
2023 Asia Cup( SL) : India won by 228 runs (Pakistan scored 128)
WC 2023 = India won by 7 wkts in 31 overs (Pakistan scored 192)

The only close game has been Asia cup 2014.

They both should start playing Test cricket. If they can play in ICC events why not in a bilateral or a Test series?

whatever rocks your boat.

We have won an ICC trophy and you are on the brink of getting humiliated by BD in a Test match at home

Like I said, India-Pakistan won't even be competitive.

We will win 5-0 and by the fifth Test , your fragile players will all need to be replaced twice over.

That's your level right now unfortunately

We can send out A team for practice in Pakistan and even they would win a test series there right now it seems like.

It is good that Pakistan doesn't play India in test anymore.

Would be like sending a cripple to fight Mike tyson

Not really.
Apart from the 1999 series Indo Pak tests usually involve really terrible flat decks that dont produce stirring cricket.

Throughout the 2000s it was only Sehwag relentless hitting that made those borefests watchable and smattering of pitch defying spells from Gul, Balaji, Asif.

I would any day watch a 3 to 5 match Indo Pak T20I series which would be competitive and fun

If we play tests against Pakistan we'll smash them to pieces. Like England's constant 0-4/0-5 results in Australia.

Every genuine pak fan must demand pcb for a 5 match series against ind in india in all formats to get rid of dead weights asap
