I hate to be THAT guy who complains but this result worries me.

WI have just been blown away on one of the flattest pitches in recent memory with no heart or desire for a fight! If I was a WI fan - I would be furious lol

Do results like these really establish our dominance in this format or simply expose a lot of these individuals on the WI team as money-grabbing mercenaries who do not care one bit for playing for their national team.

I am a bit worried because I do not want teams to accept large sums of money to tour Pakistan in the future yet show no desire or passion for being there and playing for their national team.

Thoughts?

We defeated their very strong XI 3-1 in WI so yes it shows OUR DOMINANCE.

Defeated Eng in Eng
NZ in NZ
Sri Lanka too.
WXI too.
 
This current T20 side is quite balanced and can challenge even the best teams in the world.
 
It shows we have an all round team. But has to be considered in context, this is also a weak WI team. Reminds me of when we beat Sri Lanka 5-0 in ODIS, and then went to New Zealand and got destroyed. However, in the T20 format alone we are fairly good, we also had beaten NZ in their home in this format.
 
We played an ATG T20 side today.... bring WI, Aus, Ind, SA, Eng, NZ they will all suffer the same fate.
 
Well it's easy money for the WICB and the players. So they sent some players even if they do not belong to T20 or this level. Just look at Ramdin for example.

This is why I said I pray that we bat first in every match otherwise the games will be over in 1,5 hours. Pak doing well in T20!
 
In the last 18 T20’s under Sarfraz, we have won 15.

Things are getting brighter every day for our LO’s team.

Dominance ... since Sarfaraz has taken over, we have been clinical in T20s. And as one fellow stated above, this T20 team can possibly win the next T20 WC.

Just need to get the ODI team going in the right direction as well. Hopefully NZ whitewash woke up Arthur & Inzi for good because the top order needs a shake up.
 
Pakistan's real problem is batting esp when they have to chase big totals. This T20 side has good death but real problem will be in the ODIs. Pakistan really has no destructive reliable middle order batsmen like all teams have these days. This selection might work in T20s but not sure in ODIs. We would need lots of specialists.

We had like 3 or 4 different opening partnerships in the 5 NZ ODIs. All thanks to Inzi for selecting Azhar and Imam. If we find a competent bat to partner Fakhar that will solve half our ODI problems. In the series our bowling restricted NZ to subpar scores match after match only for our batting to miss it up.

We just scored 202 and 184 vs NZ previous 2 matches. And now we have added Talat, Asif & Nawaz to the mix. What needs to be done is that Sarfaraz should take a backseat in batting in T20s and basically have Malik at 4 and Asif at 5 followed by Faheem at 6 and drop himself down to 7 or save himself for crisis situation.

Babar needs improvement in hitting ability. But overall we have quite a potent line up 1-11. As long as we score at a consistent RR of 8-9+ we will regularly put up big totals and win 80-90% of matches due to strong bowling attack. For chasing, our batsmen need to raise their game for sure.
 
Result was a combination of us being on our game and this West Indies C side being appalling.

Might as well promote Babar to open with Fakhar, slot in Talat at 3 followed by Haris at 4, Sarfaraz at 5. Problem solved.

If our line up puts up 280+ consistently, we will start winning again.

Solid ODI XI.
 
Probably both. This is turning in to a great T20 side for Pakistan. Not much baggage, new blood in the team, there's flair, energy and good vibes all around the team, which can be seen from the celebrations and just on-field fun. From Babar sledging Rayad from the slips, Hasan and Shadab going toe-to toe :)) and just the gelling of this team is looking good for times ahead.

To add to that, the replacements on the bench are terrific as well, though on the shorter side in the batting department, but packed with good fast bowlers and all rounders.

Let's not forget, the Windies just arrived to Pakistan like yesterday, so there's an element of jet-lag and tiredness which can be seen in their play today. Expecting them to put a good fight in the coming T20s.

A lot of the credit need to go to the PSL for unearthing these youngster.

Yes, much sterner tests wait ahead, but these guys need to be given an extended run no matter the result, as young blood is the way going forward over TTFs like Kami, Ukmal and Shezzy.

I think it’s a mix of both. This probably the most well balanced Pakistan T20 X1 i have ever seen. There is a perfect mix of of proper batsmen, allrounders, fast bowlers and spinners. In fact, rarely have I seen a Pak X1 that bats till number 10.

That being said, an international level team should never be folding for 60 runs on a placid batting track with 65 meter boundaries. That was just pathetic to watch.
 
I am so sad that we don't have a world t20 this year ..if we were to maintain this side and maybe make it even better by 2020 I think we will be one of the favorites ..todays side would have been too good for most sides in world cricket I think we are the best t20 side in the world currently in 2016 we had such a rubbish side in world t20 it's really pleasing to see how much we have improved
 
Our bowling is probably best in the world in T20s. Our batting needs improvement.

It’s a good side but I don’t think it can match the T20 side Australia had in the tri series. Stanlake would run through our order in two overs.

Stanlake got smashed against us in ODIs when we last toured Aus. Nothing special.

But it's true Aussies have the most powerful T20 line up right now though they just lost Warner. However, we have the bowling attack to counter them.

Bhai these Aus, Eng, NZ and Sa sides aren't going to do well against us because of our spinners. The only team that can really challenge this side is India because they will nullify our spinners and their batting depth is enough to counter our bowling.

Yeah that's why I said our bowling attack can counter Aussies. I am not too worried about T20 team. It is the ODI team that is leagues behind these teams despite winning CT that is the big concern.

Despite no Rumman, Junaid Khan and Usman Shinwari we are still bowling opponents out for under 100
Bowling so strong that our weakest link (Fahim Ashraf) happens to be the highest wicket taker in PSL3.

It is a weak West Indies squad, but our bowling would ask questions of most of the top attacks
As for our batting it’s also starting to take shape

Amir and Hasan should be rested. Shaheen is good enough to bowl against this Windies side.
 
What can you expect from a team that has landed a few hours earlier and then told to play an international game without acclimatizing? As Wasim Akram said the windies should have come here at least 2 days before the 1st game.

If there is quality bowling .... you won't see Sarfraz sending himself up the order too often, if at all.

Just a couple of questions. Are Boult and Southee quality bowlers?. Also what number did Sarfaraz bat at against NZ in the recent T20 series?

Hold on bro ... Pak has beaten uninterested WI team who arrived 24 hrs before still in jetlag from long flight, AFG also beaten WI recently in WC Qualifiers twice (ODI format though) !

It's not about one-offs. It's about the ability.

I can probably pick and choose some of even Fawad Alam's innings that may make you feel he's a T20/ODI bat.

But.. Sarfraz/Fawad/Malik don't have that ability in their batting and style of play.

Also, he will come up the order if required, that's not an issue, he just can't do what's required in modern LOI cricket, esp. against pacers. Not talking about trundlers.

It shows both. We are arguably the best t20 side in the world and WI is also a very tired,deflated side.
 
WI since the T20WC 2016 have been a poor side. Holder and Brathwaite wouldn't have made much of a difference. The only player they are missing is Ewin Lewis, besides that you play any XYZ from the Windies in the playing XI and they would duly proceed to get smashed.

It is both... provided with a weak opponent Pakistan has shown their domination in the format by ruthlessly destroying the West Indies team.

If the WI players and board have any shame, let them wither send a full strength team or not send a team at all. Pakistan will not sympathize with a poorly selected rag tag team. Pakistanis play with pride for their country and will demolish all opposition if the opportunity is available

I was not boasting. Just stating the obvious :fz. We all know what happened when two sides met last time in ODI so no point boasting in that format and we don't play tests with each other so can't say India is better in tests. :misbah3

ICC Rankings considers remaining test playing nations, there is no written rule that one should beat Pak team to become No. 1.

We too miss Ind vs Pak test matches, for our badluck those matches will not be happening in foreseeable future. ICC clearly stated in Test Championship each team can play min 6 teams, obviously BCCI will exclude Pak every time in Test bilateral series.

Only possibility of Ind playing Pak is in Test Championship final, for which Pak needs to improve in Test performances. Better luck for tests bro :19:

In all honesty you could have picked a second string XI from Pakistan and they would have put up a better fight and show.

It's all well and good wanting to revive international cricket in Pakistan, but when teams like what we saw yesterday tour, it makes a mockery of cricket.

They turn up a few hours before the first match, squad picked last minute, doesn't look inspiring does it.
 
Pakistan truly look dominant

But also on the flipside it's a joke of a series. Touring team is jetlagged and short of personnel. Its like a group or players being forced to play
 
It will be good confidence for our new players

Too often have the TTFs been given a chance vs minnows

Glad to see that wasn’t the case here

Beyond that we can’t look into it too much

Bro... whatever you say? Most will agree about T20I rankings unpredictability... FYI Ind is ranked 3, not bad!

Even if Ind reaches No. 1 T20I rankings it will not be a big deal if they don't win next WT20 title in my opinion. Same applied to ODI ranking, WC'19 is more important.

For Tests No. 1 ranking does matter until Test Championship becomes norm.

Pak has beaten WI in 7 straight T20 matches now. They beat them home, away and neutral, I think it's safe to assume, with the added victories in NZ, that this is the best T20 going.

I just wish there was a triangular T20 in Eng with India participating so we could whoop their nonsense too.

It’s a bit of both. West Indies generally has issues these days with its players who are more interested in playing lucrative T20 leagues. I’m not sure where some players were in this team. Where was Darren Sammy for example.

That being said I still think even a full strength side would have been beaten by Pakistan but not by such a large margin.

I think now Pakistan are very strong in T20s and with the addition of Talat and Asif Ali I only see us becoming stronger so this result really is no surprise.

I just hope these games will open the gates to teams like England and Australia so we can see proper contests in Pakistan.

In case you forgot we just beat NZ in NZ a feat that no other Asian side has achieved so far. Learn to appreciate others.

This WI team in Pakistan would struggle to beat Ireland, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, Scotland and many other Associate teams.

It may take decades but this is the only reason to play these games. In terms of cricketing quality the games vs Zimbabwe, World XI and now West Indies as well are non-contests. So the only reason to do them is to prove Pakistan is a safe country.

If we can get Srilanka and Bangladesh full strength teams to tour us in the next 2 years it will give some of the boards something to think about. There will be at least competition if them 2 can come out there.

A, B, or C side is no excuse or jet-lag ; am sure Viv Richards would feel the same, West Indies are the reigning World Champions and they should at least show that champions spirit.
 
I personally feel this is the first time in the history of Pakistan that the perfect XI available was selected for a match. That even stands for the time when the two Ws, Inzimam, Saeed Anwar, Yousuf, Akhtar, Younis Khan, Razzaq and Saqlain have played. It may be an extreme exaggeration but I honestly cannot remember the time I have seen a Pakistan team that has been selected on complete merit and the ability to play a particular role.

India crushed Sri lanka home and away and same lankan team whitewashed Pakistan in UAE...yeah..Pakistan is better test side than India

lol talk about changing goalposts, we are talking about t20 format which started just 10 years back, the other formats have had a far longer period, no point bringing that here, discuss it in the appropriate thread and you will get the proper answer

Did you see me claiming that we'll beat wi and nz no matter what? We have a better win/loss record in both overall and head to head stats, so I can claim India is a better t20 side than Pakistan.
 
Not sure what this series accomplishes. Perhaps the only thing this can do, is convince a full WI squad to tour. Even that will not happen for a few years.

So I would say that this might lead to a full squad T20 tour of WI and maybe SL in the next 2-4 years. That then has to be converted to 1-2 ODI series in another 2-3 years from that. So you are looking at a minimum 6-7 years before even a single full squad ODI is played. All this time we are not even talking about Eng, Aus, SA, NZ.

So for the foreseeable future there will be no full fledged tours. The PCB while trying to do what they are currently doing, should simultaneously strike a long term deal with UAE or Bang. on stadium rental, hotels etc. So that they operate more cost efficiently. They have to walk and chew gum at the same time.
