Do teams with cricketers who have played in IPL have a distinct advantage in the ICC World Cup 2023?

Logically speaking, if you have IPL players in your squad

1. They know the conditions
2. They have probably played alongside some of the opponents

Compare it with a team like Pakistan and you know what I mean.

But will that make a difference?

It does make a difference. But the pitches are flat roads as evidenced so far so it should not make too much of a difference. They may start crumbling and misbehaving as the tournament progresses.

My concern is we will only play at a handful of venues whereas other teams will get a game at most of the stadiums used. If we make the semifinal we might be playing at a ground where we have never played before.

yeah that's true IPL experienced players would get some extra advantage but kind of wickets we have seen in this World Cup so far even an under19 player could potentially score a quick century here.

According to Babar Azam no it's not make any difference .Ravi shastri asked same question during caption meet . .

No, because in the IPL you are facing C, D and Z level bowling attacks where batsman feast off leg side pies. A mixture of international and domestic level bowling units - or simply put - mutton dressed as lamb.

This is precisely why India have not won a World T20 since the inauguration of the IPL.

A recent article in Indian media channel Republic, which while ain't the most intelligent channel, but it claimed that WC venues for Indian team have been done in such a manner that none of the opposition team IPL players have the venue against India as the home ground during IPL. So absolutely there an advantage of familiarity and BCCI also thinks that, that's why this immoral act of venue tampering.

It should also be helpful for a player to play on the ground where he has already played a few matches.

No, if it were Australian pitches then yes.

We saw how badly babar and rizzu couldn't do anything when the t20 tournament was held in Australia. They clearly struggled to adjust to the extra bounce on the pitch to the point that people thought babar and rizzu were put for form, But as soon as they came back into Asian conditions they were fine.

Indian pitches are flat belters with many C/D Level bowlers in IPL. No need for adjusting to such conditions.

One exception is chennai though, unlike other pitches that's a spin pitch and it can be an advantage on those pitches yes.

LOL, Australian pitches are even more belters than Indian pitches. Indian pitches have more variety, as you saw in Chennai. There is none like that either Australia or England..

No lol, I've live in Sydney and have visited the scg plenty of times, Babar and rizzu got exposed in the t20 world cup.

The ball bounces 100 more times and it's far more difficult for batsmen to adjust to that awkward length. It's why saeed Anwar, Babar and rizzu were tailenders on those pitches.

Crowd sizes and the noise is something that could effect player performances also.

The familiarity may help but I don’t think it makes a big difference. I think the comparison would be more apt if we were playing a T20 World Cup in India. I think the style players play in the IPL is just so different than an international ODI.

For example, some of these Afghanistan spinners should be absolutely dominating considering their IPL performance but it’s just not happening.

Becouse there is big difference between TWO and ODI .
It's just not Only Afganistan spinners who performed better in T20 than Odi but same applied for Shadab khan also

Indian pitches are custom made for Indian team, whereas Australians don't do pitch tampering atleast not as minutely as BCCI does where each and every pitch for India match is being created keeping opposition in mind even in ICC tournament. It was pitch made for Indian spinners, i thought previous ODI in Chennai was when WI chased down 290 against India for the loss of 2 wickets. Chennai produces belters when it wants to.

Think for Indian players, playing in front of huge audiences was not a big deal. Pakistanis felt it.
