Doctor Who v Star Trek

Was having a discussion with a colleague as to what sci fi programme is better since it's inception. Both have achieved legendary status but I reckon the Doctor just shades it. What do others think?

The Doctor is the best character. Three, Four, Nine and Ten are my favourites. I will be intrigued to see what Jodie does with it.

Overall, what I have seen of ST has been better written than Who. It depends which version you talk about - TOS and TNG I loved. Didn't like DS9, Voyager wasn't great and I have not seen the more recent ones.
