Does any Asian team deserve to win the T20 World Cup 2026?

T20 World Cup 2026 was deemed to be an all sub-continent side dominated tournament but the reality was diagonally opposite. Instead of bullying other teams, all Asian teams could do was bashing the minnows. But when they got the chance to lock horns with the big teams, they failed miserably and get mauled in their own backyards be it India or Sri Lanka.

Even Pakistan had a miserable tournament and like other two Asian teams they bottled the match from a winning position against England. So bearing in mind the dismal display by Asian sides, does any Asian team deserve to lift the T20 WC trophy this team or a non-Asian side deserve to taste the glory this time.

This has always surprised me. India always play on flat tracks in bilaterals. When it comes to ICC events and especially in Modi Stadium, suddenly pitch gets changed with black soil. Same happened in 2023 WC Finals and same this time. I will not rule out any foul play. Maybe someone is intentionally doing it so that India can lose and the person on whose the stadium is build can be mocked at. Nothing else can explain me black soils.

Black soil pitches get badly affected by dew and becomes very easy to bat under lights

Should not exist in the 1st place
 
Only India, one bad game should not erase their good form overall.

Pakistan and Sri Lanka on the other hand, not a chance.

Indians phir ro rahay hain...that is just after losing one game...black soil, red soil...ween ween..but served green pitch on Pak first game and accused Pak of cry babies 😆

Bro, soil is the same for both teams. Australia and South Africa are both used to bouncy and fast pitches - but they both adapted to the pitch and did better than us. Credit to them. We need to up our game, that’s all.

They are experienced enough unlike India which has a lot of first timers. India can win next time with a bit of experieince

These are all excuses , I don't care on what pitches, condition we plays , if we are best then we need to beat everyone .

We played very poor cricket so far bar Pakistan game.

Sky is behaving like arrogant , Tilak think he can Play however he wants because he has captain backing.

I won't bash Abhishek because he has the licence but he also needs to understand that sometimes condition demand bit of respect instead going from ball one .

We have to adjust according to conditions.

That was not the point I was making though. Ofcourse they played better than us without any doubt.

Question is, why suddenly pitches gets changed only in Modi stadium before big games? I dont see it happening in Eden Gardens, Wankhede or Chinnaswamy. So its all bit suspicious.

Ahmedabad has naturally black soil, not just now but forever has been, and it has behaved this way for a very long time. Our batters have been used to playing on good tracks and have not been able to adapt to slower tracks. Anyway, it’s ICC’s prerogative and responsibility to build tracks - we just need to do better than the opposition.
To be the best, we have performed around the world over a period of time in SENA. We should just do better and not look for excuses or conspiracy theories.

Tbh i don't mind this. Sri Lanka cannot match the buzz and excitement for cricket as Indian grounds provide
 
Totally agree ! If you are to be the best team , the WC champs , tehn you have to win everywhere . Toss, pitch , weather, dew, rain, water , sun, Modi stadium, Dubai stadium, crowds, black red & pink soils, traveling 3 diff cities etc etc all these are excuses. The great Aus ODI teams 2003-09 never complained and they not only won but dominated others everywhere home and abroad across continents. If you are not good enough , you lose and accept it. But no place for excuses at all. Absolutely none , nada, zilch.. Ind team has a chance to show how good they are.. I believe this 26 team is way better than the 24 Ind WC winning team . so yeah will be a massive disappointment if they dont win this WC.

Cost India the 2023 WC, and now game against Saffers... Why don't you lot stick with usual highways. It will definitely result in a lopsided Indian triumph

Again excuses... Aus played better , Ind couldnt handle the pressure and Head played a great knock. Simple as that. Accept and move on. All these theories - soils pitches highways etc etc are pure nonsense.

No, we just need to do better. Regardless, ICC prepares the pitches not BCCI.
In the past as well, I always gave India the credit for outplaying all opposition at home and didn’t sympathize with them when they lost on bouncy pitches of Australia and South Africa or the swinging conditions in England. You have to improve yourself and do better - India started doing better in overseas conditions and SENA in Indian conditions. The point is, wherever you play you need to raise your game and not look for excuses.

And Kohlis innings got elevated because of Bumrahs bowling magic and Pandyas tight bowling. Thats OK.. In 23, Aus just played better and if Head had dropped Rohits catch , who knows.. But again no excuses as I said. Aus were the better team on the day and that's all that matters .

Yes you were lucky that it was Saffers not some tough opposition, otherwise 30 off 30 with wickets in hand is a piece of cake
 
India, probably doesn't as most seem to be out of depth.. Surya, Abhishek, Varun, Pandya, everyone seem to be bringing there C game to world cup.. Mostly peaked way too early..

India lost mostly due to pressure of expectations. Abhishek took attention away from.others. after he got sick he is not the same anymore. India is a beast in ICC tournaments mainly dude to their bowling. I expect more intensity from them.

Whoever handles the pressure they will be better. Sa is looking good.Sa 20 have made them significantly superior. Plus IPL..They are ready this time

agree. SA was always a good team, but now with great t20 domestic tournament and access to IPL makes them really good candidate. If not India, I will be fine with SA, NZ and WI winning. SA especially deserve it more than anyone else
