Does Imad Wasim deserve to be in the T20I squad?

Imad is a better darter than Nawaz. Nawaz can only spin it in the UAE.

He is not selected due to still recovering from neck injury. Not being dropped.

Nawaz has a higher ceiling as a bowler, don’t think batting is far off either.

I would play to play zafar but I think they want nawaz as he is more of an allrounders

Honestly Imad is an enigma, I don’t really know what he is good at. His t20 record is great so in that sense he deserves his selection.

However in Odis if have Nawaz if it’s a choice between him or Imad

Nawaz is a better bowler, thousand times better fielder and equally good/bad batsman..... therefore Nawaz is an overall better package than Imad.

Nawaz is more skilled with the ball and can provide handy runs down the order ... Imad will be selected in squad but Nawaz should be the first choice for 2nd spinner in ODIs and T20s.

Imads bowling in PP overs are like goldust. T20s is the 9nly format he should play for Pakistan . But Nawaz seems to have gone ahead of him in the pecking order.

Of course that still leaves Malik but he isn't going anywhere with all that paawa.

If you're going to play Imad/Nawaz purely as bowlers, then neither of them merit a place in the lineup. I think someone like Zafar Gohar should get a chance.

Nawaz is million times better than bulky Imad Wasim in terms of batting, bowling and Fielding. He need to be persisted with and Zafar Gowhar as backup bowler instead of Imad.

Honestly, I think Zafar should be picked over either, especially in t20s.

If in t20s you need your number 8 to contribute anything more than a few slogs with the bat, then you have probably already lost the game. Plus people forget that Amir and Hasan arent tailenders, both are capable of ball striking.

In ODIs, I understand why we would want another allrounder at 8, but again I think having Shadab at 7 and then Amir ( who averages close to 20 in odds) and Hasan at 9 and 10 negates the need to have an allrounder at 8.

Plus Zafar is more than decent batsmen. I think his development has been hampered by injury but at under 19 level, he played good innings with the bat under high-pressure situations.



Ultimately I feel we are still short in the spin department.

While Nawaz is a better bowler than Imad, he still isn't what I would call a wicket-taking option. Zafar is, that's the difference.

last 10 t20s he has been averaging 40, economy is still great but I dont see why zafar cant do a similar job with more wickets

I think Imad has been found out, you just play him as a medium pacer. He was very succesful at first but now teams are looking at footage and know how to counter him

Nawaz is only good in subcontinent. He did not turn much in England and NZ. Imad's darts are difficult to get away as compared to Nawaz's. Overall I agree that Gohar or even Kamran Ghulam is a better option.

I think the team has moved forward and Imad isn't on that level currently. With Shadab and Nawaz performing well, where can he fit in? I dont think any of the pace bowlers should be dropped for him and certainly none of the batsmen, so placing him in the squad is difficult enough, let alone the team.

I think, if fit, he deserves to come back to the T20 squad. He has been a good consistent performer since he first came into the T20 team which is substantiated by the fact that he was also rated the no.1 bowler in T20I as recently as December 2017.
