Does the emergence of Shai Hope and Kraigg Brathwaite signal a trend in West Indies cricket?

West Indies in recent times have not been known to produce cricketers who could be bothered to play 5 day cricket but these 2 have set the tone.

Will there rise trigger a renewal in West Indies Test fortunes?

It definitely will. Kids, adults, everyone watching back home will regain interest in Test cricket and I can say this with experience because that's what happened when Pakistan beat England.

Only if the WI could get back Darren Bravo. They could become a seriously good team with just a little bit of match practice. The likes of India and Australia try and try and try and yet cannot win games in England. It's not an easy job, especially against such a good attack.

Only Pakistan, West Indies and Sri Lanka have done well in recent times in England while the supposedly good countries have been pretty mediocre. Interesting.

Hope, Chase, Brathwaite, Holder and Bravo if he returns will form a pretty strong line up while the rest can be filled with ok batsmen (unless there's other unknown good batsmen).

nope. Their emergence means nothing

Why?

Because soon when they become seniors they will get dropped and face problems like the ones before them did.

Remember that guy Bravo who played that hell of an innings? Where is he now?

The team isn't consistent with its selection and that hurts. Pakistan achieved the top no.1 rank in test due to its selection consistency in test.

The only thing and I repeat the only thing that can change Windies cricket fortunes is consistency and backing of players.

Windies should select their best 15 players and stick with them until the next world cup and beyond. Holder should start bowling little and concentrate more on his batting if not push himself up one place in batting. This is the only way he can captain in all matches else the workload will get better of him.

If Windies bring back the mercenaries for the World Cup then I fear it would never improve in long term as players will always be going off to lucrative leagues and leave their country behind.
