Donald Trump's team 'discussing plans for Muslim registration system'

Trump has not won the election because of his racist and misogynistic remarks....if that was the criteria, then the amount of votes he got proves Americans are overwhelmingly racist....now if that is also your criteria, people from other parts of the world including the islamic countries where the bias between Muslims and Non-Muslims is way too obvious, people from such countries wouldn't migrate in droves to the united states.

Trump might have winged it and just spoken thrash but his major scoring point was his appeal to the blue collar worker and the frustrated lower-income group and rural areas on a promise of a better life for them.

Even Bernie Sanders has acknowledged that.

It is good to read to go out and get different opinions than get stuck with a closed and biased information

That's not what I said though my Indian friend. I never claimed he won the election due to his racist or misogynist remarks, I said that those remarks were aimed at a particular community, the white disenfranchised voters. I hope you can tell the difference. That means while he was certainly to appeal to the blue collar vote, he could have done that without mentioning race or immigrants but that wouldn't have got him the votes now would it? Or maybe you think when he described Mexicans as rapists, he was hoping to get extra Mexican votes from the working classes?

I see you mentioned what happens in Islamic countries again, not sure why you think Americans should measure themselves by Islamic countries or Hindu countries for that matter. Why would Americans care about Iran's theocracy or India electing a Hindu supremacist govt?

This is exactly why I said you need to read more and not just form opinions on closeted materials available :))

Not saying America should measure themselves against Islamic countries in fact I find irony that they are becoming exactly like them by imposing such divisive/discriminatory rules...That irony as scary as it is is also amusing.

There is nothing called a Hindu country by the way there are only secular countries with Hindu majority-Only 2 from the top of my head....again take my advice and read more stuff than the material available.

By the way for all that misogyny maximum Trump voters were women.

Perhaps some Indian posters would like to explain why a discussion on Trump and his racist policies, especially those that were a cornerstone of his election pledges, means that Indian posters automatically feel the need to compare them with the policies of Muslim countries?

Do these Indian posters not realise that most of the (ethnic) Pakistanis having these discussions on this forum are actually UK, US or Canadian citizens, and thus are far more likely to be affected, directly or indirectly, by Trump's policies as opposed to what is going on in Iran or Malaysia or Saudi Arabia or ....?

Meaning that we have very valid reasons for discussing these issues, especially if it pertains to Trumps stated intentions as regards Muslims in, or visiting, the USA.

What is their excuse?

I have no idea. We are talking about America and the President elect, and his supposed policies with regard to Muslim registration, yet so many Indians keep harping on about Islamic countries like they are all one conglomerate mass rather than individual countries with their own laws and systems. That's why I wondered whether it was perhaps related to their own experience in India where they have voted in (again) a party based on Hindu supremacism and perhaps that is how they think the rest of the world thinks. To be fair, I don't think American Indians would be so myopic, they would probably have a more well rounded view due to having been exposed to various cultures in the west.

Trump has not won the election because of his racist and misogynistic remarks....

Your right. He won inspite of his views which is worse. His views are transparent they are not ambiguous.

if that was the criteria, then the amount of votes he got proves Americans are overwhelmingly racist...

Now you seem to be veering away from the point that I was making which is common amongst indian internet posters. The point and fact is this. And these are undeniable. The majority of people who voted for Trump were white middle class voters of both genders. This in not in dispute. The majority of college educated white men voted for Trump. You cannot use the "disenfranchised" white working class argument here. The majority of people who voted for Trump had an average income of over 65,000 dollars a year. Hardly hand to mouth workers. So why did they vote for Trump? (and another point the majority of americans didnt vote for Trump) they voted for him because of his views. How else do you make a quick judgement about someone? because you agree with what they say. To try and avoid this point is simply laughable.

.now if that is also your criteria, people from other parts of the world including the islamic countries where the bias between Muslims and Non-Muslims is way too obvious, people from such countries wouldn't migrate in droves to the united states.

I dont know why your comparing Muslim country's that have only been around since the mid 20th century with a country that has had a democracy for 200 odd years. Its lazy. So stick to the main topic.

Trump might have winged it and just spoken thrash but his major scoring point was his appeal to the blue collar worker and the frustrated lower-income group and rural areas on a promise of a better life for them.

see my point above. His core vote wasnt the white collar angry white voter. The majority of them voted democrat. His core vote were middle class whites afraid theyre white priveledge was going to be further eroded by hilary and co. If he were winging it, it would be reflected in his appointments but alas he is doing what he says which blows you argument sky high.

Even Bernie Sanders has acknowledged that.

the only closed and bias information is the misinformation you seem to be disseminating. Just look at the facts, they are available in the public domain.

looks like they want to setup registry of muslim immigrants only; but not all extremists are immigrants; there are some who are US born.

It won't happen but it's a disgrace that they're even thinking of something like this.

They probably have already started monitoring Muslims from time, this is just Trump appeasing to voted racist supporters (most of his supporters aren't racist).

My understanding that the NSEER's entry, exit registration system for Muslims was abandoned because it was extremely costly to implement. Where is Trump going to find the money and budgets for this?

The plotters plot and Allah plots and surely Allah is the best of plotters.

There are many prominent Jews and celebrities saying they will self-register as 'Muslim' if this plan is enacted

This will be incredible rebuke to Trump, thousands of non-Muslim Americans pledging to register as such in solidarity
