Babar had a huge hand in constantly selecting the same crop of players for every series. His insistence on Nawaz being his "matchwinner", Shadab as his Shahid Afridi, Ifti as his master finisher, playing Shaheen in every single match of a series whether he's fit or unfit, same with Rauf and Naseem. It is quite well-known the lack of growth in those years of Babar being captain and the result of it has been so very clear. Just look at WC'23 and how Naseem got injured right beforehand and they had no-one to turn to so they selected Hassan Ali again.

Just once when Pak finally looked to develop some bench strength against that series vs Afg after PSL 2013, Babar returned after and they went back to square one. Babar Rizwan opening combo, and the same group of players. No updates or advancements whatsoever.

He was too static when it came to his formulae. So and so players play and they also cannot play out of position.

I am referring more so from 2022-2023 by the way which were 2 crucial years with multiple tournaments.

By the way I actually like Babar. I give him a lot of leeway for everything. I really want him to do well and think that he has a lot of potential than what he's showing for. But I firmly believe that he caused a lot of damage to Pakistan cricket during his days as captain and only pulled Pakistan back.
