"Don't think Virat Kohli is in the same league as Tendulkar, Dravid and Laxman" : Mohammad Yousuf

Asian fans obsess themselves over league of the players rather than league of the team..

Lol, it's just me messing with the usual arguments of the self proclaimed PP experts who refuse to rate anything pre 90s.

Ahhh ok thought so haha - just wanted to make sure :inzi

MoYo, himself the king of soft runs criticising another fella for scoring soft runs :D

Kohli is already much better than Laxman and Dravid in ODIs, and has the potential to be as good as Tendulkar in ODIs. However all three of them are better than Kohli in Tests. I still don't get Kohli as a Test batsman.

He don't even need to be the best for India to win games and that speaks a lot about this current team talent-wise.
We need his captaincy more than the Kohli-the-best-batsman. So who cares. If I have to say, he's a lot more consistent than Laxman, but don't really think we need him to become next Dravid or Tendulkar.

Present day Indian team is doing better than past teams that contained supposedly bigger league players. Cricket is a team game, not an individual sport like Tennis, so as long as Indian team is doing well, they do not miss any past big league players right now.

True. As of today Kohli hasn't surpassed
Tendulkar or dravid or Laxman. Only as an ODI player he has obviously surpassed Dravid and Laxman but not Sachin.

Er, first of all Tendulkar, Dravid and Laxman themselves are not in the same league.

Here's my ranking of Indian batting greats (from those I have seen in action, so excludes old-timers):

Tier 1 (world-class ATGs): Gavaskar, Tendulkar, Dravid

Tier 2 (Indian greats): Vishy, Laxman, Kohli (has a chance to move up in the category above), Sehwag

Tier 3 (good batsmen): Vengsarkar, Mohinder Amarnath (a shame he couldn't make it to tier 2, but he was quite inconsistent), Ganguly, Azhar, Gambhir, Pujara (will definitely move to tier 2 by the time he's done) + I'm sure I'm missing a few more
