Shaheen Shah Afridi, no matter how much you dislike him, has more titles to his name as captain than Babar Azam. Shaheen was removed just after a poor showing in New Zealand. But what about Babar who lost to England and Australia ignominously in a home series. Why not PCB, removed Babar then? Why this discrimination?

If SSA was unfit for captaincy then why not PCB replaced him with the best available option ie Mohammad Rizwan?. No matter how many press releases PCB may issue now the fact is that lala Shahid Afridi and SSA both are utterly unhappy with PCB's recent move. And now we may see three factions in PCT one Babar one, the other LQ players lobby backing SSA and the third one of anti Babar lobby comprising of characters like Amir and Imad whom may not be the regular names in the playing XI owing to Babar's return to captaincy.

So the question is would this era of factionism be worse than Waqar vs Wasim era or the things would settle down soon on their own?? 🤔

At least that team could win a game or 2 even if fixing infighting.. the current team get taken to the cleaners by Afghan Zimb Asif & Ifty are beyond hopeless!

So whoever causes trouble should be shown the door.

The issue is the way PCB keeps a stronghold on their players and why @Asad T made a video on usman Khan staying in Pakistan being a mistake.

Pcb isn't like any other board. Shaheen can't pull a Ben Stokes, retire and come back when it suits him to focus on making money via leagues.

Pcb could cancel his league playing ability if they wish. Leaving the saya group is all he can do as he needs to think about his financial future.

But if this was ECB or any other board, he'd have left for franchise already as money would be the motivator.

Him leaving Saya proves my point( also the whole walk out comment, I think you took that a bit too literally boss lol)

But yh it's PCB, they can't LITERALLY walk out for the sake of their financial future. It's why usman Khan has made a huge mistake trusting this board.
 
No chance. The 90's team didn't have honest people like Rizwan gelling the group together. The pakhtun troopers have backed Babar historically. Rizwan and Iftikhar play a big part in it. Shahid Afridi on the other hand is trying his best to lobby otherwise but he's not in the dressing room. Shaheen is young and wears his emotions on his sleeve but it won't be long before Murshad and Chacha have a sit down with him to end all animosities.

Bro it won't be that easy, especially if Rizwan had replaced him he wouldn't had such hard feelings but now as he is replaced by Babar. A character whose captaincy form also had started to decline so he may wonder what actually was wrong with himself as captain? Just a single bad and that too away series?
 
All these tensions are normal in any team. Focus should be on finding a good middle order hitter and a way to win 2 out of 3 games against Eng, SA and WI in WT20.

Rest all is newspaper fodder.

Yeah. Much ado about nothing . Ashwin made a point recently . Ganguly played under Tendulkar, Tendulkar played under Ganguly , Dravid played under both, the other 2 played under Dravid , they all played under Kumble and then these 4 played under MSD briefly .

Captaincy was never a sore point no matter what other differences they had.

Pakistan needs to move past these power struggles for captaincy.

He's hurt, no doubt but I hope he introspects and comes to the logical conclusion that it's not his time yet. He needs to perform as a bowler and that captaincy is a burden that Pakistan can't afford him to bear at the moment. Nothing wrong with him, just needs to abide his time and perform where it matters.

So how did it happen?
When PSL started, a franchise management started lobbying and meeting PCB Officials.
Mohsin Naqvi had left the decision of captaincy on Selection Committee, they raised the matter of replacing Shaheen or retaining him and a vote happened subsequently.

Babar's name got the most votes in the meetings of committee. This all happened on 27th and 28th March, Naqvi himself met selection committee on 28th and he also met Babar Azam on same day to tell him he will be the captain as suggested by Selection Committee. 1 member leaked the

PCB cares a lot about optics so they delayed the matter for 3 days and planted news of selectors convincing Babar when he had already met Naqvi.

Yousaf, Wahab and Abdul Razzaq, 1 of them was an employee of PZ, second one was ex captain of PZ, acc to sources both Wahab and Yousaf were the main supporters of Babar coming back. Babar didn't win unanimously, some people voted against him but they lost i don't know yet who.

All the info i have tweeted above is verified and credible by trusted sources but from here i am adding my speculations,i don't know who voted for whom, remaining members were Razzaq, Asad, Wahla, Bilal and Cheema. Atleast 2 of them were on right side of history so salute to them

It was pretty easy for Shahid Afridi to influence this committee but he didn't call his colleagues to get a favor. Model Town Mafia has always been strong in Pak Cricket, this was just another win of same lobby kicking out an outsider by joining hands. Well played Babar Saab.

Those guys were intelligent and secure, Our guys are mostly thick and insecure. A combination that doesn't end well as the 90s showed

The Pakistan cricket team is once again caught up in lobbying, grouping, and politics, just like in 2009. The PCB administration deserves the blame for these foolish decisions.
 
Babar can laugh as much as he wants right now for getting away with it at this point in time but Karma is a *****. The political situation in Pakistan is always fickle and things keep changing.

Shaheen and his gang are not going to forget this episode and when they ever come to power again, they will take their revenge as well.

Yeah true. But I think PCB is to blame for not putting an end to it and , in fact, aiding and abetting it somewhat.

The difference is Babar had 4-5 years on the job. If a captain does not deliver in these 4-5 years then a cricket board is justified in asking them to step down.
 
After listening to a sports reporter, i myself have had a chance to cool down and be dispassionate about the situation. The PCB has now made a decision with regards to who the T-20 captain will be and now the players will have no choice but to accept and respect the decision. The reality none of these players i.e. Babar, Rizwan, Shaheen, Shadab are world beaters and they haven't won anything extra ordinary for the country in the last 5 years and the PCB is the one who is to blame for allowing these mediocre cricketers to create camps and to dictate terms, conditions to the board.

Any player who tries to undermine the captain, board or team needs to be booted out from the team with new players bought in. If Babar indulges in the same dosti yaari crap i.e. drops Amir, Imad and unjustly picks Nawaz tuu mera match winner hai then axe him as captain in due course.

Mohsin Naqvi is coming to the PCB with powerful backing and he will not hessitate to clean house if necessary and make long term tough decisions.

Well the best thing about that rivalry was that it bettered them both to refine their skills, if we are able to get any such thing in recent episode that i am all for it.

Hating each other and win is very difficult, you still need a captain that no one hates for that to happen.

If you have a captain who lets say 5-6 key players hate…those key players can purposely underperform to undermine him. It can happen.

Babar’s memorable wins as captain came at the back of Shaheen’s key first over/first spell wickets. Even Rizwan, who might feel aggrieved may no longer have that drive to accumulate 50 runs off 40 balls anymore. Fakhar must also be sick and tired of being Pakistan’s GOAT white ball player of this era, but he is always the one who is being shifted around and the team isn’t being built around him.

Imad and Amir will get on with it, but they are in it for themselves…they won’t go out of their way to put their lives on the line for Babar knowing that he can’t really be trusted.
 
One of Babar's best buddy M. Haris gets dropped from the squad and then unfollows Peshawar Zalmi and at the same time a non performer like Hasan Ali books his berth into the team. Certainly turbulent times ahead of Babar as he now has more enviers than well wishers in the side.
 
In the recent press conference Babar says the reason why Hasan Ali was picked as backup is because he has experience of playing Cricket. Not necessarily of T20 Cricket.

He then says Zaman was not picked because he's a new ball bowler and we already have new ball bowlers.

SSA's disrespect towards team management and reports of lobbying clearing shows that he hasn't forgotten about his abrupt removal from captaincy.

It's proxy warfare between shaheen Shah and Babar through sympathetic journalists and YouTube channels.

The move to give captaincy to SSA and then abruptly snatching it away without giving him a proper run totally destroyed the team chemistry.
 
Babar and Shaheeb both should be dropped. Make Rizwan or Shan Captain until CT.

Babar should never lead Pakistan again. He is a cancerous nevla.

No there was no such thing like that (as people portrayed on social media). There was also something circulating on social media that I put hand on Shaheen's shoulder and he removed it in anger. I actually had put my hand on the exact spot where Shaheen had got hit by a ball from someone before.
There was also something like I got livid with Gillespie. Actually I wasn't angered at him but our ball had went out of the ground when Liton Das hit a six. It was our second new ball and was just eight overs old. But the ball that it got replaced with five minutes later was many overs old like 18-19 overs old. So I was complaining regarding it that officials should have given us a better new ball. So people twisted these plots into suggesting that I offered my resignation before Gillespie and entered into a physical brawl with Shaheen although there wasn't anything like that. So we try our best to keep distance from social media especially during the period when we are playing matches.
 
Insane the fall in last 4 months, anything the Establishment touches it gets worse.
