I won't be doing any bhangra on her release, which I highly doubt would happen since Americans seem to be hiding her fate at all costs. Nor do I believe in her absolute innocence, however I do think she has been severly mistreated and the whole story the Americans are telling about her is suspicious to say the least and they seem to be covering up their misadventures.
Before answering your questions here is the reason why I think any self-respecting Pakistani should care about the issue at hand. As I said in one of my post:
My concern and support for her has little to do with her gender or religious inclination.
Now answers to your questions:
1. I don't know. My inability to answer this question however in no way implies that she must be a terrorist and all the accusations by the Americans must be true. The thing is your question assumes she is guilty until proven innocent. You chose to believe in the American's lies and now want to backwards rationalize it. You actually are victim blaming then critically looking at the issue.
2. I don't know. Perhaps their marriage didn't work out or perhaps the love wasn't there anymore. This is a speculative question concerning her private life, which can only be answered by more speculations. I don't want to get into any unending loop of speculations upon speculations.
However one thing should be clear, in a modern and progressive society you can't be put on a trial and charged for having criminal thoughts as long as you haven't acted upon them. Her having extremist views are irrelevant as long as there is no concrete evidence of her acting upon them.
3. This is perhaps the only relevant question you listed worth addressing. Here is how I see it as posted earlier:
If you want to go down the route of "she is guilty because al-qaeda is asking for her release" then lets go all the way: When al-qaida uses her case for their propaganda purpose do they portray her as a female "Mujahida" who bravely fought against the "crusaders". Have they publicly owned her as one of their members? Have they in anyway attributed a terror plot which Afia helped plan? Al-qaida has released videos of 9/11 hijackers, their last will and have eulogized it's planners, anything of the like for Afia? Any video, audio or even writing of her condoning Al-qaida's ideology? Or have they, in all their propaganda attempts, always portrayed here as an "innocent and oppressed" Muslim sister betrayed by the shameless Muslim rulers" which they are helping regain her honor and freedom.
Al-Qaeda also uses the situation of Muslims in Palestine, Kashmir and Burma for its propaganda purposes. Does that automatically nullifies the legitimate concerns of those populations and even worse make them Al-Qaeda's allies or sympathizers?
It would only make sense to be suspicious of al-Qaida's support for her if Americans had actually captured 100s of other Muslim women, tortured them and locked them up in their secret prison and despite all that al-Qaida only chose to support Afia's release.
4. I don't know. These question about her private life can only be answered by her. Perhaps she fell in love or perhaps she was desperate as a divored Muslim woman. What we do know is at the time of their marriage 9/11 hadn't happen yet and therefore very likely that she was unaware of her husbands "other" side. After all her husband was able to hide his teror plots from the whole world. In any case being a relative of a terrorist doesn't make you guilty by association. Such kind of conclusions might have been the norm in medieval times but we are past that.
These questions you are asking are actually pretty lame and nothing but an attempt to backwards rationalize the story. If you actually want to convince me of her terrorist past and justify the way Americans dealt with her than you need to answer the following issues:
I could understand your inclination to believe the Americans on this issue IF they had a perfect track record and weren't caught lying multiple times. If they actually know what the heck they are actually doing in this "war on terror" and haven't been caught surrendering to the very terrorist they wanted to erradicat as I have illustrated in this post:
http://www.pakpassion.net/ppforum/s...elated-News-Goes-Here&p=10185201#post10185201
The reality is that the Americans don't have a perfect track record. They have been caught violating the same human rights and personal freedom which they wish to see implemented all around the world. From atrocities in Abu Gharib jail to the countless innocents, who were declared innocent by American lawyers themselves, tortured in Guantanamo. These are no conspiracies but established facts.
It is also a fact that Americans have indeed negotiated with the terrorists and released many declated terrorists from Guantanamo as part of such negotiations, who then upon their release went back to their terrorist activities but the Americans stubbornness to not even hand over Afia to Pakistani authorities is highly suspicious to me.
