I just recently listened to a lecture of his and I have been quite taken aback by his amazing knowledge, sensible and practical ideas. He is a eminent scholar and I've been quite impressed by his lecture. It is a bit slow, but if you listen carefully, you'll be astounded by his amazing depth of knowledge.

Anyone else on PP heard of him or his lectures or read any books by him (if there are any)?

If you would like to listen to his lectures you can go to the following site, although the lectures are eclectic from various scholars, so click on the bayans which are joined with his name.

I think he is the best scholar when it comes to politics Sharia and government.
Full of knowledge, definitely a guy who should be involved in the much needed restructuring of Pakistani Political system.

I totally agree with his Shariah House suggestion.

I am a very big fan of Dr. Israr Ahmed. I have heard his Bayan-ul-Quran more than once. Many of his lectures as well. But my listening has been mostly confied to religious stuff. I do not get convienced by his political stuff. Like he suggests that Pakistan will break in a few years, entire map of South East Asia will be reives in a few years, etc.

Most people think he is a politian truned mullah, that is general view. When I speak to any religious person they do not recognize him either. This is because he never received any formal religious education, does not have a sanad or a shajarah.

Still I like him.

I think I've seen him on ARY around Sehri times in Ramadan, but that was a few years ago. Didnt see enough of him but I know my mum rates him

I sort of grew up under his influence. My friend's Dad was his closest colleague and we once went to his house to attend a sermon. He said that Pakistan would break very soon because the reason of existence of Pakistan was Islam and without an Islamic system there could be no Pakistan........... that was 15 years ago! If anything, Pakistan is stronger now than it was at that time. I taught at his Koran College as well but only for a couple of days as after that I could not be bothered to wake up early (I used to read a lot then, sometimes for upto 16 hours a day!)

After that I saw him three months ago as he presided over my cousin's Nikkah in the mosque in Model Town. I have respect for the man and his learning but the Nikkah khutba was, apart from the usual things about married life, focussed on the size of a person's beard. He chastised most of us for having small beards but singled out and praised my mamoo (uncle) for having a proper BIG bushy beard. I personally think that he is losing it now!

My knowledge of Lahore isn't too great, I only really know of Model Town and Mayo Gardens.

On Dr Israr
What did you think of his idea of merging Afghanistan with Pakistan?

have heard him... mixed opinions. he is one of those mullahs who isnt in the favour of pakistan and india separated. though he used to be a political leader and was at some post in past govt in pak(i dunno correctly). but dont get him wrong he is not pro india... he just want that pakistani and indian muslims should try to convert/revert the whole india into a muslim country/region (obviously by correct mean).
I've heard one of his lectures which really shook me. will soon open a thread about it.
His latest program with Dr.Shahid Masood (ARY) is coming now a days... its about how/why/when Allah created Human. its an iteresting discussion.

Sorry I missed that one. I left Pakistan in mid 90s and he must have thought of this 'Grand Union' after that. Ridiculous idea though :)))

Thank God Somalia is not next to Pakistan, we would have been attracted to them as well!!!

He is just another ridiculous mullah.

Status of Non-Muslims in a Muslim State:

Ahmed believes that non-muslims cannot be equal citizens in an Islamic state. They must necessarily choose one of three options: to convert to Islam and live as equals; to submit to second-class status; or to wage war for parity. But Dr.Israr argues that to understand the status of non-mulsims in a muslim state, the religion of Islam has to be understood completely as Islam is a religion of peace and justice.

Punishment for Apostasy
Ahmed believes that any muslim who leaves the faith must be put to death. This is especially applicable to people of the Qadiani persuasion.

I think he was also in Dr.Shahid Masood's documentary, "The End of Time" or something like that.

His YouTube account has been taken down.

He is only saying what is found in Islamic tradition for 1400 years. Nothing incorrect.

The Pakistan Tele*communications Authority (PTA) has called upon YouTube to review its decision to block a TV channel run by the late Dr Israr Ahmed’s foundation over charges of hate speech.

“This unilateral shutdown of Dr Israr Ahmed’s channel, a prominent Muslim scholar, raises questions about the arbitrary limits of online expression,” the PTA said in its appeal to YouTube on Tuesday.

Sources in the PTA said the channel concerned used to broadcast videos of Dr Israr Ahmed that tried to shed light on the socio-economic order envisaged by the Holy Quran.

The PTA pleaded that such videos were only aimed at “educating the viewers”.

YouTube suspended the channel after Jewish groups complained that its programmes carried contents which incited hate against them.

Dr Israr’s channel had almost three million subscribers and his lectures were admired by a large number of people living in the West.

The channel, operated by the son of Dr Israr Ahmed, shows recordings of the late scholar’s old speeches.

These contain his views about the end of the world in the light of Quranic verses and the Jews’ place in history.

A disciple of Dr Israr Ahmed decried the move as a violation of free speech by the West.

Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza said on his own YouTube channel the move betrayed the West’s double standard. “They acted upon complaints just by Jewish groups, without hearing the other side,” he said.

The complaints lodged with YouTube expressed fears that Dr Israr’s “preaching could trigger violence against Jews in the West by Muslims”.

Indian action

The Indian ministry of information and broadcasting barred 22 YouTube channels, including four based in Pakistan, on Tuesday over charges of spreading disinformation that posed a threat to “national security and public order”.

The Indian government had banned 35 YouTube channels and multiple social media accounts in January on charges of spreading “fake news”. A similar action was taken in December when 20 YouTube channels were blocked for airing “anti-India content”.

Meanwhile, the Reuters news agency reported that the blocked YouTube channels had a combined following of 2.6 billion viewers.

According to the agency, New Delhi invoked “emergency powers” under IT laws to block 18 Indian channels.

“Multiple YouTube channels were used to post fake news on various subjects, especially against India’s armed forces,” the information ministry said in a statement.

The Indian government has been using IT rules introduced last year to crack down on social media dissent.

India has sought tough action by tech giants like Google and Facebook to root out “fake news” from their platforms.

In a meeting in February, officials told the firms their inaction had forced the government to order content takedowns, which in turn drew global criticism that authorities were suppressing free expression.

Google said at the meeting that India’s information ministry should avoid making takedown decisions public, but officials dismissed the idea.
